Pretty much. My biggest pet peeve regarding the game. Maybe I should start practicing shooting 3's with my C.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

Okay, so for the past two-three weeks, I’ve been going out to the Rec by myself with my Rebounding Wing. He was a 93 overall, and I had neglected to finish him since he was my least liked player (until I got the correct number of shooting badges), so I don’t really care how his overall fluctuates. He’s now a 98 overall off 90% of my games coming in the Rec. So running by myself with nothing but randoms for many hours at a time, here’s the verdict I’ve come to so far:

You MFs exaggerate the hell out of ‘omg so many squads in Rec!!!’

Yes, you run into the occasional REAL squads in there, but it is NOT at the frequency that some of you cry about. Hell, more than half of the ‘squads’ I’ve come across are friends or makeshift ‘squads’ of people who just met each other in Rec and decided to keep their winning streak going, or friended each other a short time ago and linked up.

During this time, I’ve still been winning much more often than not. Yeah I’ll catch the inevitable bad streak of **** randoms back-to-back-to-back, but I tend to just wave those off and move along. Sometimes I’ll run into some crap randoms, but we still win because the other team is somehow even worse. In those cases, I take my win and back right the hell out. And then here and there, the randoms are so bad that I’ll just cut my losses and leave. (Shot selection in the first minute usually tells you what type of game it’s going to be). And then sometimes you actually run into a really good group of randoms who know what they’re doing, and you can sometimes even beat a majority of the squads that you run into if everyone jumps on the mic and communicates. Those are the most fun games.

What’s beating you most of the times isn’t ‘squads’, it’s your own teammates. Sometimes it can be corrected by jumping on the mic and jarring their attention. Something simple like “Yo, what’s going on? Are we trying to win, or are we out here bulls***ting?” Sometimes it works, and sometimes it’s irredeemable. Thems the breaks.

But yeah, y’all are straight up exaggerating about the Rec being loaded with death squads.

This game is also free this month on PSN and most of the "comp" players are onto something else by now.

Personally, I just said squads need their own matchmaking. I can tell if it's a squad just by the team makeup (normally it's 1 PF, 1 SF, 2/3 SGs, or 1 PG). Everytime I see that team makeup, I keep thinking it's an easy win, and then they starting bombing 3's, playing zone, and throwing constant alley-oops.

Randoms will be randoms. I stick mostly with my C, because that's where I can make the biggest impact no matter how bad my squad is.

Randoms < mix of squad and randoms < squad < organized pro-am team.

To each group, playing a group a step up will often feel like an utter mismatch. A squad of 4 +1 random will typically get hosed by a full squad or an organized pro-am team (happened to us twice last night). As randoms playing a full squad, it will feel like you are high schoolers playing the 96 Bulls.

I'm not sure why is this so difficult to understand. Sometimes, you'll get lucky and have one hell of a teammate, and beat a squad of whatever. However, you're more than likely to lose than win most times than not if you're running with a squad full of randoms. I won a game this weekend where we was done by 16 points and came to win, because they squad though they had the game in the bag and started goofy. My team finally "clicked" and ended up winning by 8 points.

It’s not about being ‘difficult to understand.’

Listen, I‘be been doing this 2k thing since the very first one. And I’ve been playing with randoms since 2k11. Every single year, after a certain amount of time, I’m usually out ‘in the wild’ running with randoms by myself because others have moved on to other games. Trust me when I tell you that it isn’t the ‘squads’ and ‘pro-am teams’ that’s beating you 80% of the time. You need to look no further than yourself and/or your own teammates.

At the end of the day, it’s basically replicating the ‘Recreational Center’ vibe. Sometimes it’s a bunch of people out there who don’t know each other trying to play as teams, sometimes you’ll have that going against some friends who showed up together to play a few games. Who gives a flying ****, seriously. What are you gonna do, tell that group of friends who popped up ‘Oh y’all aren’t allowed to play with us because y’all know each other’? Come on.

Not a jab at you per say, but just saying.

Let people play where they want to play. So what, because y’all are complaining about squads at The Rec, are y’all gonna have that same energy for 3-man squads at the Park, and say ‘Squads shouldn’t be allowed in Park, they should be forced to play nothing but 3-man Pro-Am’? That sounds a bit ridiculous, don’t you think?

EDIT: Hell if you feel that badly about it, why don’t you just link up with me, Loso, Rockie, or anyone else on here and go play some Rec games?

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

The rec is supposed to random and I like that, but let me explain what's awful:

                        - Guys running Bucks 5 out plays & peek-a-booing / rim running is awful.
                        - Being able to intercept passes by cheating passing lanes that are wider than 20 feet is awful.

                        - Not being able to finish a simple standing layup with a post god because of the Intimidator badge is awful.

You have guys literally making a living off this game, winning PNO & MyTeam tournaments for hundreds of thousands of dollars playing like idiots because the horrendous game mechanics allow for it. That's what's awful.

What sounds ridiculous is you suggesting that matchmaking for park and JRC are the same.

If i could actually see another squad waiting and i could then back out then it would solve alot for me in jrc.

Its boring playing solo against a squad

Your experience isn't typical. Depends on what time of day you play too. If you play after 5 PM, way more squads.

At the end of the day, tryhard 'petrified of real comp' squads shouldn't be playing vs noob random solos. Which has happened way to often all throughout 2K20. Idk why anyone would be against fair matchmaking. You can't trust the 2K community to play fair, they're gonna bum hunt, so 2K needs to fix it.

If i could actually see another squad waiting and i could then back out then it would solve alot for me in jrc.

Its boring playing solo against a squad

You’re arguing semantics, homie. 3-man and 5-man squads playing and beating up on randoms has been around since 2k14. And them doing it as part of a Rec/Walk-On/JRC system has been a part of the game since 2k15.

Where was all this complaining about squads during 15/16/17/18/19? Or is this something that’s new to 2k20? Because I haven’t heard a single complaint about it around here until this year.
