They could use the ranks.
Could use team grade.
W/l.
Quit ration.
Avg stats.
Combine requirements as a start.
Could use a combination.
And so on.
If by rank, you mean Rep, that only goes by whoever has played the most. If Rep can only go up, and can never be decreased due to bad play, then it can’t be used. If you mean something else when you say rank, please explain.
Win/Loss can be tricky in 2k. Remember when people were whining that they were being judged based on their W/L record? That's why they removed being able to view it in the locker room. Depending on the severity of the W/L ratio, I can sort of see it. However, you could find some good players who had subpar records, mainly because they play by themselves more often than not. So would it be fair for skill-based matchmaking to view them as a bad player because of their record? Or you could have someone who is complete compost, but who just so happens to play with 4 really good players who can cover up for his less than stellar play. Wouldn't be fair for 2k's skill-based system to rank him much higher than the guy who can ball out, but the record doesn't show it.
Teammate Grade is a joke. Until it is reworked from the ground up, it can’t be used. It punishes you for playing correct help defense, for crying out loud. You ever wonder why you can never incur ‘Leave Assignment’ in Rec/Pro-Am? The system was so freakin’ broken because it couldn’t recognize what players were doing, that the penalty was completely removed from multiplayer, yet you can still get it in MyCareer.
Quit ratio? That could factor in. However, again, it doesn’t work correctly. If you aren’t aware, there is supposed to be a penalty when you quit out of games. Yet that penalty can be bypassed by either testing your connection, or joining a friend’s session. Can’t be used in its current state.
Avg stats? That’s probably the only thing that can work for the time being. Everything else is ****ed up. Even combining them could still result in some very skewed results with the way 2k basketball is played. Why do you think I said skill-based matchmaking wouldn’t work right now? It wasn't a knock against you, I'm going by the systems in place, and their track record.
