I played Live '19 for the most part last year.

You can level up to 99 in about 3-4 weeks.

Randoms are going to random regardless.

I dont think it's exclusive to 2K....or video games for that matter. I literally just got back from the gym where someone on my team shot a pull up 3 on game point...on a 3-1 fastbreak.

Difference is he didn't get picked back up [emoji38]

Think it's hilarious this was the most popular thread for all of 2k20 and no changes were made to match making. It's obvious the Devs no longer post here.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

Had a rough night in Rec last night. Ran solo with randoms for 5 games and ended up against squads in all 5. 2 of the teams ran 5 out on offense with 4 guards, 2 play making shots and 2 perimeter lockdowns. Zone on defense. Both teams had point guards that rarely ever missed with even a sliver of space and the other 3 guards were basically automatic on catch and shoot if you tried to help or rotate. It was flat out not fun at all.

The other teams were slightly less sweaty at least but still coordinated enough that I lost all 5 games. For a guy who was able to maintain a 70% win percentage in Rec running solo in previous years, it is frustrating how Rec has really deviated from being a pick up game to a place for squads to stomp randoms.

So, we're forced to solo queue for Rec, and play the lottery wheel of "how terrible will my temmates be this round"?

As a general rule, if I am in the Rec lobby and I see a teammate with a pink afro, or the jersey number 69, I will immediately dashboard as I know they will be pure cancer.

Likewise, if I queue as my PG and see another PG get put on my team, I will dashboard as well as I don't trust 90% of the PGs in this game to pass the ball AT ALL.

I make it a rule as PG to make sure all other 4 players get a touch immediately each time down the court at the start of every game, and then if one of them is an obvious idiot who runs into 3 people and shoots a contested shot, they will most often quit the game like 2 minutes later anyway.

Combine this with the dribble spammers, deadbeats who yell on the mic (if I ever hear a person talk on their mic and NOT swear like a psycho weirdo straight away, I'll have to record it in the history books), and getting matched with tryhard squads, it's about an 80% chance of any single Rec game being bad

Squads of more than 2 or 3 people shouldn't even be able to queue in Rec, that's what Pro Am is for...

Usually if you're a good big and milling around, people will add you. It's sad tho you get on the team with two dribble God friends, clean up their mess for 3 4 gms then they ditch you. Its like man I shot like two times and got you so many second chances feed me smore wins.

And I always start out on the mic like yo before I commence ta swearing. I'm usually just asking people what they're doing or telling them to play their role. You got a shooter get out of the paint in 3s. It inspires profanity.

If "comp" strategy doesn't change on next gen then i will never buy another 2k.

Actually glad I'm sitting out 2k21 Current Gen. Seems like its just the same old same old.

I agree that the matchmaking is still awful, but the devs do post here as Gameplay Director, Mike Wang, has been posting in another thread in the last 2 days.

Yea I mean it is. But ya gotta be a pioneer if you wanna change the meta. You have to prove there is a huge hole. I just wanna compete. I want the people who played vs me and with me to remember. I'm gonna prol make a post scoring center on next gen and get bodies vs all the little ones.

Before last night, I had rarely seen any teams running zone and hadn’t run in to too many squads. I’m up to a 94 rating so I wonder if that somehow changed my matchups.

One positive is passing lane steals are a bit toned down so zone isn’t as killer as it was last year. Even my group of randoms was able to score with moderate success. The bigger problem is how difficult it is to get stops when a team runs 5 out with a skilled PG up top. Until they tone down the effectiveness of off dribble 3s, that strategy is going to continue to dominate.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

5 out is a viable strategy that tons of teams employ in the NBA. The difference is NBA teams have off shooting nights. Or specific players do. Sure, you can play great defense and make someone have a rough time... But if they make one they're instantly hot. Volume Shooter, Green Machine, these badges need to go away.

If someone shoots 0-10 in the first half, they should be blistering cold. It should take 3-4 easy baskets to shake it off. They should have to work to get their game back on track.

But as long as shooters can shoot 80 percent wide open, it's never going to be like real ball.

We've been asking for this for years now, but there absolutely needs to be a solo matchmaking portal for park and rec that stays in the game all year long. I would love to see a solo queue with leaderboards and rank based matchmaking that pairs you with and pits you against people who have similar ranks.

Park has had some special limited time events like that in the past (top dog) and it was one of my favorite modes that's ever been in the game. You could play match after match on an even competitive playing field in an instanced connection with no other active users roaming around in the background stressing out the connection and no possibility of people breaking up the steady flow of games by stepping on/off the got next spots.

It's just shameful how 2K has made zero effort this entire console generation to improve the online experience for solo MyPlayer users considering that is probably how the majority of their customers are playing the game.

Happy with the change that was made to standing dunks/finishes.

Big was looking damn silly under the rim sometimes.

Are you finding it to be more consistent with the stick since the patch? I switched to the button when I figured out that the stick was nerfing my dunking. I’d like to switch back but I’m uncertain if they only fixed the standing dunks or if that included off ball cuts. I was almost never dunking if someone passed me the ball as I cut to the hoop, especially on dump offs near the basket, until I switched to the button.

It's gotten way better with the stick, I'm comfortable using it in PNO, but the button is just more reliable when it comes to Park/Pro Am standing dunks.
