Its one of the Park Events that only comes up at certain times. It works way better than the other ones because it's matchmaking only. Kinda like the Rush events. Point being tho, a single game in matchmaking could streamline the entire park process. People couldnt jump off spots before the game starts and all that. If they quit because they dont like their teammates then they have to take an L.

I wouldn't mind a lobby like this with random matchmaking though. Maybe next gen.

was thinking 3v3 rec walk on today. It's funny the PC community is so small it's like L*ve where you know all the people, but that's cool I guess. I wonder if they added 3 on 3 rec if people would still wanna be in the park.

Like I said tho CAPTAINS. We need captains in a random mode.

Matter of fact I had a similar convo yesterday after what should have been an easy win.

Ya I like the sentiment, but if someone is going 2-14 I ain't tellin him to keep shooting lol. I'll give randoms some gameplay tips, sometimes they listen most times they don't. But it's this type of problem with randoms. If you're going 2-14, odds are you're a ballhog, yet they'll keep shooting and never take it upon themselves to change it up or try anything new like uh passing.

"If people call you trash, ignore them" --- Or you could figure out why they're calling you trash to begin with..

In the comments he said he was open and had the ratings to hit it.

It's the same thing I tell a shooter IRL if he's capable. Keep shooting. Don't hesitate.

Yeah, I would have to agree. I think the context of the game is probably important for this conversation. I had a game last week where my teammate shot like 3 of 11, but I kept feeding him from the post. Dude was getting open, but he couldn't buy a shot to save his life. I didn't want to freeze him out, because he was the only one on the team who knew who to lose his defender. Everyone was just jacking ill-advised shots or playing hero ball.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

I'm not a shooting player. But after years of hearing about my spacing i made it a point of emphasis in 19 and 20. I love the feeling of crashing the lane and demolishing their big men and guards that get switched on me.

I became known for the guy who got more "oh nooos..." Than "OH MY GOD YOU KILLED HIM". lol

Half of it is shooting when you're open, thats true. But a smart player knows that if his shot isn't there on the outside, start getting to the basket to get hot and then start pulling your open looks again.

The issue is you have to be hot for them to truly GUARD you on the outside to open up your inside game.

It's a delicate balance, but id rather force it inside than jerk forcing it outside.

Midrange, floaters, and euros are also great to get your player going. If you're seeing heavy defense on anything, you always have to change it up to get back what you want.

I wish this was more true across the board in every game mode.

People expect of they make a shooter, they should be able to shoot all the time. If i make a slasher, i should be able to dunk on everyone.

That's why having versatile characters, good in everything, not great in anything have been my strong suit.

If i can make a character that can do everything decently, I'm always a fit on any team.

                    I made a 6'10 2-way Point Forward in 2k19.
I had a 6'9 SF slashing shot creator.

In 2k20 my favorite character was my 2 way playmaker again, he was just 6'7 instead.

The more i can impact the game, the better.

I had to get better at spacing myself. This was actually a time where I had to stop thinking video game and think basketball to maximize my impact. My goal was to grab every board possible, but like you said, crashing at the right time to finish or find the angle for a board is a good feeling.

While I'm ok with doing dirty work I'm glad 2K has opened up the midrange/ finishing tools. My glass cleaner is an all game force now. I'm not sure if it's been in the game and I didn't know about it, but I love the standing push shots you can pull off right at the rim as a big man. That's my baby, lol

We had a guy pulling up all game as I was trying to defend a rolling 98 paint beast...it was a pain in the ***, but it was..... basketball. I'll take that over defending screen & green all game.

that play/shot is really a pick up and play build lol and the reason for all these terrible guards.

they lowered the floor for skill when it comes to that build and i dunno what they did with shooting but they can shoot from 30 feet off the dribble with consistency. Only pure sharps were able to do that at launch.

That’s what a lot of bigs don’t get about rebounding. It’s often easier to snag offensive boards when you’re not already hovering around the hoop. So if you’re setting screens and roaming, you can run in as the ball is in the air and avoid boxouts or get better momentum for good jumps. Lots of the time I slide inside and boxout the guy who was standing there the whole time. I’m averaging 16.5 boards in Rec and that’s with my numbers being deflated by quitters.

I feel like the screen up top with the big rolling down the middle is just a variation of screen & green. Most teams use it if the Center is hedging effectively enough to contest the shot to force the Center to back up. Still feels cheap to me!

It’s honestly so obviously overpowered that you can’t even blame people for picking it. More than half the guards I see on it don’t even care about dribbling or playmaking. They just use it as a quasi-Sharpshooter because it barely shoots worse but has a bunch of other advantages and badges.

                                "Rec with Randoms Challenge"

I dare anyone to play 4-5 games straight with randoms in Rec without yelling once at the tv lmao

The search is over everyone -- we've found the dumbest people on earth fr. Every time I play Rec I lose more and more faith in humanity. Like it goes beyond the videogame, I'm just wondering how do these same people tie their shoes. It's press X to shoot press A to pass. Basic stuff that seems like rocket science to your average Rec player. I honestly don't know how it's this hard to figure out a simple basketball videogame.

                                2K Matchmaking is a disaster.
