Literally had that experience last night in REC. We were losing by 20 points in the 3rd quarter, and two of my teammates quit. The remaining two decided to start jacking up half-court shots. I was so livid, because I was still trying to win the game with or without them. I wanted to get on the mic so bad and scream "Have some d*mn dignity in losing or quit!!!!".

Re: D'Aaron Fox - 2k is a trash game thats why wont stream it
That's more or less where I am at too.I used to get really aggravated with almost all online games but after a certain point, I realized that most of them take the same approach to gameplay, and that approach is not the right one for me.I think people sometimes get into a cycle of doing something even if they hate it, just because they get used to it or don't know what else to do.
I think you're very right about online gamers...the most frustrating aspect of online gaming for me is often just having to play with people with no competitive desire that just want to goof around, refuse to listen, and continually spout unfunny jokes, then act like there's something wrong with the players who are actually trying to play well and win.
There's only so long I can listen to what usually sounds like kids or college students endlessly trash talking and acting like they are the God's gift to gaming, tying to act hard, etc. That's not even counting the number of times I have heard slurs or other very offensive remarks of a personal nature...
Your first paragraph about "online experts" is also spot on IMO. If you look at posts in forums for pretty much any online game, quite often these "experts" almost all play the same tune...."My favorite "things" are unfairly underpowered and should be a centerpiece, they should be able to dominate everything else and nothing should be able to counter them. Anything that can counter my favorite "things" though......that's unfair and OP and needs to be nerfed immediately."
I think this kinda comes down to:
Has the sim community created a strong community?
Obviously it’s outnumbered by casual gamers. Individuals contribute but there are very few group efforts to grow the community. I completely agree that there’s an “expert” mentality and a lot of people stuck in their ways. How can we promote an alternative, communal system while avoiding pitfalls of groupthink, etc.?
At the end of the day, sim heads can create their own 2K world and we have tools to do it. We need ideas/frameworks and people ready to actively participate. For example, could we come to an agreement on OS for replicating a sim experience that is accessible to newcomers (i.e. a wiki)?Comment

I agree and relate to most of this.

Now, can the game be made in a more realistic fashion that sim players will enjoy? Yes,pretty much. The community is there and does do some amazing things, but it is, comparative to the 2K community at large, small and tight knit.
IMO at this point the biggest thing is, as you said, being accessible.Figuring out which rosters and slider sets are right for you is daunting at first and without a good tutorial, trying to build your own custom roster or custom sliders is a recipe for hours of frustration.Something like a wiki that explains the process, with an organized list of links to tutorial videos and to the mods, would probably be a good start.Comment

Re: D'Aaron Fox - 2k is a trash game thats why wont stream it
Fair enough...but arguably the best player in the world enjoys the game...and has said on numerous occasions he uses it as a reference for real life scenarios. What does that say?
Again, Fox's comments stem from an argument with other NBA players, like All Star Donovan Mitchell, who enjoy it. Not to mention the 30 player tourney going on.
I think at the end of the day, it's a basketball video game. As we can see, even people at the highest level are going to have different opinions on how well it replicates things. The opinions above dont make it perfect, Fox's dont make it trash.
We just gotta stop latching on to this stuff to validate our issues. (Not you, but the spirit of the thread)
I fogot that I did see him mention the outlet passing and it is one of the more frustrating parts of the game.
He also said that playing online is complete trash, which is pretty true.
He's not the first player to say something bad though. I've seen JR. Smith and KD have some issues in the past.

I asked him on Twitter to direct any input he has to Beluba.

Re: D'Aaron Fox - 2k is a trash game thats why wont stream it
Most people take pvp as offline, as it should cater to their personal preference rather then that of the entire community.
They think that was goes for them goed for everybody else.
Again you are wrong though.
They can certainly tinker with a lot of things which is when they release updates and/or patches.
Its just so happens that they rather do stuff based on data rather then just people’s emotions.
Everthing gets registerd on their servers and if interceptor for instance really was broken then the data would have shown it and it would have been fixed by now.
Pretty much how they adressed fancy footwork and difficult shots.
Or that silly behind the back dribble move that everyone had.
Or jumpshot animations.

They obviously aren't looking at the data if the gameplay Direction himself is constantly putting out polls asking about key elements.

I don't really think LeBron plays as much. Fox is avid gamer from what I've seen, so I'd take his opinion over most.

He beat a guy who talked trash on Twitter by 30 points. That doesn't seem like a newbie to me. I could've swore I read somewhere that he games quite a bit. I've also seen him in video game related adds. Screenshot_20200403-183037_Google.jpeg

He's saying that the players can't change how the online portion plays. We all know the devs can make the changes. If the player doesn't like how PNO, MyTeam, Park or Rec plays there's no option to tweak or play in a certain lobby.
They obviously aren't looking at the data if the gameplay Direction himself is constantly putting out polls asking about key elements.

What game offers users the ability to adjust the global public portion of their game?
Polls are to ask the public opinion.
There is a reason to ask for that.
What do you think those reasons are based on ?

Anyone watching the tournament? I missed the first match, but I'm watching DJ and KD matchup. Yeah they aren't making the game look very good lol. They've both made a few decent plays, but both look like they typical online players spamming certain moves like hop steps.
Just heard KD say how bad Transition defense is.

Re: D'Aaron Fox - 2k is a trash game thats why wont stream it
Cant speak for any others but I hated 2k20 when it first dropped. Played 2k19 more.. but after the last few updates and I began to fall in love with the game. I'm on pc, so that's a plus anyways due to modding community. But when I got a good roster (desttest) and sliders, this game has been my go to. Dethroneing 2k11 as my favorite all time 2k game. Its that good when you get the right roster edits and sliders. Loving 2k20..Comment
