Re: How do you beat zone in Rec in this game?
Rec is extremely toxic. I started playing 2k20 a few days ago, upgraded my player, and played some rec with friends. It’s all 5 out, 2-3 zone, cherry-picking, constant alley oop dunks, way too many steals, and people shooting green releases from 45 feet. It’s not realistic at all

there you find all the elite 1’s-3’s who exploit matchmaking to run up the score against people like you who are new.
out there running 2-3 vs newbies, spamming steals and lobs for rep. its sad really and people wonder why they cant find a match in team pro am..pro am teams are hunting for easy matchups.Comment

Re: How do you beat zone in Rec in this game?
After playing so many more games, I have to be honest. The BEST method to beating the zone is knowing how to freaking pass the ball! Playing as the center, it blows my mind often the backcourt will EASILY get 6+ turnovers PER player. People need to learn how to use icon passing and/or how to be patient against the zone. I can live with someone getting 1-3 turnovers, because sometimes you underestimate the pass, but I still think it's asinine when the entire backcourt gets 3 turnovers each. Some people need Basketball 101 in passing the ball.
As for the bigs...STOP throwing the pass as soon as you get a rebound! You're wasting a possession when you throw a pass and it goes out of bounds. How hard is it to wait 1-2 seconds to see how your teammates are streaking to the other side THEN throw the pass?
If people were just more careful with the ball, that's like 80% of the battle.Comment

Playing as center, you see everything the PG does wrong. Try putting in a lot of time at every position, and you'll understand just how damn hard PG is against a good zone, especially in rec, when you might have multiple teammates who cant shoot and make it easy for the opposing big to sit in the paint the entire possession. If the guards know what they will doing, they'll make sure to not give shooters any space while also playing passing lanes. It's a running joke with my friends that everyone is an expert on playing PG when you aren't the PG.Comment

Re: How do you beat zone in Rec in this game?
Please read my words correctly. I didn't say that 99% of your opponents suck. I said that 99% of your opponents don't have a clue about basketball. You can be good at this game without knowing a single thing about basketball tactics.
I am on PC and I usually don't even play any MyPlayer related modes, so no thanks.Comment

Yes, because I play 2k since the first 2k on PC (2k9), basketball games in general since NBA live 2004 and basketball in the real world actively in a club including coaching since 2003. I know a little bit about this sports and these games.Comment

I agree, if you are the PG against a good squad ( playing zone and 5-out with atleast 4 locks on the team), and if you dont have consistent shooters on your team, you will get fried by their zone lol.
1 thing you definitely need against the zone is 2 shooters capable of shooting from the hash, since that is literally the only place on the court you can actually stretch against a zone. Corner threes are near impossible unless its off a bailout pass from the elbow.
The whole deal with zone this year is the crazy amount of steals the defense can get which would never happen irl. There is no way to totally collapse a zone cause defenders can fly from the paint to the 3pt line to intercept a pass and with hof intimidators around, you will miss open layups lol.
Best way i see to beat the zone is to have a playshot or a pure play pg who can pullup from the three and the middie, with 2 shooters stretching at the hash and another shooter(could be a slasher who can shoot) sit the corner and look for backdoors.
At one point they have to defend the hash if you have consistent shooters which will give you little more room to work with in the middle

Re: How do you beat zone in Rec in this game?
You can beat the zone with real world bball iq tactics. Don't blame the tactics blame the lack of bball iq in the community. Problem is 90% of the 2K community - including pro am - doesn't have the real chemistry needed for all 5 to move as a cohesive unit. So they set up cones while the PG / C dance for 20 seconds of the shot clock. To beat the zone takes a lot of creativity and great timing, things most teams don't have time for. You may be able to find 1 or 2 players with great chemistry, but I haven't seen many where all 5 have elite level bball iq (not just 2k iq) and great chemistry.Comment

Re: How do you beat zone in Rec in this game?
Play now i basicially try to get my best player matched up against their worst.
With denver i try to get jokic on the PG and post his *** up for easy fades.
REC i camp at the free throw line and can shoot easy jumpshots or pass it to a cutter if the C decides to guard me.
I try to attack the paint for easy fouls and try to foul them out.
Its hilarious when it works.
Change shot lay ups are pretty much a guaranteed miss but also pretty much a guaranteed foul if they try to go for a block all the time lmao
