    Re: NBA 2K21 - Next-Gen Impressions

Not impressed with the help defense button. I was under the impression that it would have one of your cpu defenders stay around the paint to prevent the drive. However, the help defender comes over to basically double. If they can either patch that or change that for next year it would help greatly. As is it set up now, I find it of very little use?

Anyone have success with the help defense button?

So I cranked up help defense and defensive awareness and was still able to spam lobs with Bam. On the pick, both defenders stick with the ball handler. It is too easy to score, even on HoF. Broken.

Can you import your own music on ps5? Sucks the full ps4 generation removed that great feature for many games

Da Czar did mention a good defensive patch coming out soon after release. He was playing and talking about it on a stream. Not sure if it fixes this issue tho but maybe?

Anyone else having frame-rate issue? Went to my buddy house to play it on ps5. Game looks amazing, the foot-planting is noticeable immediate, dribble smoothness and cleaned up.. Defiantly a different feeling game from current gen, but the frame-rate issue are noticeable with drops and shutters randomly.

Why do you guys keep constantly repeating "wasnt built from the ground up" Seems we have already established it wasn't. Us with the game also established its a totally different game from current gen.

Look all you guys who keep trashing it without even playing it just know it makes current gen look like bird poo. EVERYTHING is better. Not saying everything is great but everything is better. Is it hurtful it wasn't built from the ground up? I just don't understand. Guys who haven't played the game are the ones complaining lol. Not saying everyone who has it loves it but it seems the majority do.

To the haters, doubters. people wondering if they should get it because of the haters. Best 2k ever. Definitely not the same as current gen lol. It seems people keep trying to convince everyone its the same to make themselves feel better for not having it. Not everyone of course.

Through out this whole thread people have been stating its a different game. To the person I quoted presentation is not the same and when they mentioned built from the ground up they meant gameplay

Playing mostly PNO...if you don't nitpick this game to death, you all don't realize how REALLY good this game feels when playing H2H. Shooting is not OP...AI is GOOD on transition defense. Generally, fastbreaks are guaranteed 2 or 3 points. The AI does a really good in making the "correct" decisions to stop the fastbreaks. I really don't have any complaints. Lob passes seem to be the only thing that could fall into the OP category.

Going to add onto my list.

                      Good Comments:

                      6. Cant believe I forgot this in my first post but the loading times....... couldnt contain my boners from them. My wife got annoyed with me because I kept telling her to watch how fast it loaded. After the 5th time I was just trolling her but still.... amazing that I can click a button and blink and im there.

                      7. The locker room before a rec lobby is such a beautiful addition. Might seem irrelevant to some of you but I can't tell you the amount of times We only had 4 and we'd sit around for someone to respond to our posts. It's so much easier just going around the locker room and looking for a player/position we need and just messaging them.

                      Bad comments:

                      7. For the 4th game in a row (counting 2k21 old and next gen) when showing the 5 players on the screen during "intros" all the stats are 0. For both teams. Then when they show your indiviual matchup.. ZEROS.

                      8. In the rec lobby waiting to play everyone's teammate grades are "F".

                      9. When your REC game is loading into the court, both teams "team rating" is wrong.

                      10. Jumpshot creator is broken. When you put it to the fastest speed it will never save. Always reverts to the 1/2 or 3/4 setting. Sometimes I have noticed that my 3/4 custom jumpshot speed randomly changes to 1/2.

                      11. The "missions" from NPCs in the city are a cool touch. But the prizes are not rewarding... at all..... Why am I going to spend time doing a "mission" to win a damn Pirate hat?????

                      The good comments.

                      1. Game looks amazing as expected. The lighting, especially on the courts, is unbelievable.

                      2. Player movement for the most part is greatly improved.

                      3. The new player builder is perfect.

                      4. THEY FINALLY MADE REC/PROAM COURTS TRUE TO SIZE BASED OFF OF THE PLAYER MODELS!! I have been screaming for this for like 7 years it seems. The court has always been way too small for 5v5. Forces you to play 5 out or else its just a jumbled mess. This is one of the things I was most pleased with.

                      5. The city is incredible and a great addition.

                      The bad comments

                      1. Built from the ground up? Absolutely not. I have no idea why they said this. It's not even remotely close to being built from the ground up. In fact its 10000% not built from the ground up lol. It's the current gen base massively improved. While that doesn't make me unhappy it does make me annoyed that they repeatedly said "built from the ground up" when it CLEARLY wasn't/isn't.

                      2. I said above that player movement for the most part was greatly improved. Well there still are times when your player is forced to face forward instead of people able to choose where/who you can focus on. I've hated this (as most people have) in the past 5+ years of 2k.

                      3. As always the VC you earn in games is ridiculous when you compare it to the cost of some of the things you can buy. The ratio between the two is so absurd to the point I think that they are just trolling by doing it.

                      4. I never have lagged in any 2k when playing online but I have experienced major clunkiness and stiff feel to my players movement. Nothing changed here in that aspect. Have some super smooth games and then some running in mud games still.

                      5. Rookieville idea is cool BUT forcing you to play with randoms is a massive headache. 80% of the 2K community has no idea how to play basketball. So that leads to terrible defense, terrible shot selection, no vision, no iq in almost every game I play with randoms. If they wanted to go the random route I think the mode would have been better if they made it optional so if you played it you would get 2x rep/vc until PRO1 or you could just skip it and bypass the opportunity for 2x rep/vc

                      6. Soundtrack is awful.

Thank god the cpu doesn’t just run down the shot clock just to force their way to the basket they actually run an offense now.

This game is incredible. This is the first time in years I haven't had to spend my time out of the box slider tweaking to make a playable game for me. I haven't touched a thing.

What I find funny is that history tells us that when sports games are truly rebuilt from the ground up it's typically 1 step forward 2 steps back because it is a completely new foundation. This happens almost every time a sports game is rebuilt or switches to a new game play engine. The game might be better in some areas but worse in others and there are usually bugs and glitches due to the game being on a new engine.

So all these people complaining about how the game isn't actually built from the ground would probably be even more upset if it truly was rebuilt but fell short compared to current gen in certain areas.

The xbox and the ps5 shooting is different. That trigger control on the ps5 is a beast. It makes doing everything in traffic harder. As it should. You can turn it off though if you start missing to many shots.
