NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
I don’t know how I feel about the dribbling. It’s nice, but lacks the freedom and control of last year.
Does anyone else hate the adaptive triggers on PS5 for this game?

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Silky smooth, amazing movement and great animations, but I just dunno.
They give some new stuff, yet take away tons in return. 2K20 had tons more options for pull up jumpers, spin shots, step backs/hop J's - they've literally been neutered for the sake of a few high profile sig ones from top players. Hardly many to choose from in comparison which hurts making the players stand out from one another.
Again, the dribble system is back to what it was like previously, with the shot stick returning to its roots of being able to hold any direction for a jumper, but again, there seems to be more emphasis on high profile sig dribbles and we've lost the plethora of standard and pro ones from previous iterations.
I'm really trying to love this game, but I tire of the one step forward, ten steps back every year.
I have to be honest, I'm gonna give it until the end of the weekend to keep playing, but I see myself taking it back to the store and sticking with 2K16 & 20.
Too many things I've fallen in love with in previous games to keep losing them for the sake of a couple of new bits here and there.
Here's hoping the weekend play might change my mind.-----------------------------------------

I don't understand removing animations. Maybe there are under the hood reasons for it that are far beyond my knowledge but I feel like animations should only be added, not removed, except for certain situations (bad looking animations, "broken" animations such as OP animations, and I can't really think of any other reasons besides those 2).
IMO the more animations the better. You can never have too much variety, especially in a game where millions of people are trying to create their own unique player.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Left stick dribbling very effective in this game as well as easing off turbo. You can get around defenders with a few dribble moves, quick burst of turbo and then just normal left stick.
Can see people who just spam turbo really struggling to get by defenders.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
This is on PS5. Looks like those are well known bugs at this point. Hope the send down a hotfix fast.
I'll just keep learning the new feel of the game on exhibition until then.
I also want to say that I'm really happy with shot aiming being gone. I like this new meter, and I hope aiming NEVER comes back.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Should not be able to go under the pnr and still contest a three pointer at the same time.
Either you have to go under or over. But you can't go under vs a lethal shooter and still be fast enough to contest consistently.
The speed and change of direction of the cou defenders is to high. Guys are able to sprint one way and then contest in the opposite direction all in one motion. That needs a tweek.Psn: Alabamarob

Have you experimented with the right stick in combination with the left stick in the post? There is some nice stuff in there.

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Something dismal like that, yeah.
And literally like one perhaps two 'Normal' sig size ups for players who don't dribble with much 'sauce', the rest are all reserved for top tier ball handlers.
For context, 2k16 had over 100 signature sizeup animations.........
Anyhow, I'm trying to push forward with it best I can. I desperately want to like this game because it plays so well. We'll see......-----------------------------------------

The fact that I can’t just spam turbo pass a defender every game says it enough how I’m going to love killing cheesers
