Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
The shot contests of the cpu need to be tweaked. The instantaneous contests when the defender is running the opposite direction or is six feet away need to go. Main issue I am seeing right now. This and the lack of speed difference between the players.Psn: Alabamarob

One thing I did notice the CPU plays peaks boo with you
Sometimes you well create some space and the defender will go the opposite direction but magically shot contest in your face with super fast reaction timeComment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Defense is definitely improved, but I feel like in order to make things more responsive the players feel very twitchy and spazzed out at times. I absolutely LOVED how weighted and grounded new-gen 2K21 felt. Yes, it felt sluggish at times...but the feel of every step, re-direction and acceleration being accounted for was wonderful. 2k22 almost feels like the worst of Madden at times...where defenders and ball handlers move in a very floaty, weightless manner.
Anyway...that's my biggest gripe so far. Really enjoying the game overall and this year feels like a step in the right direction.Comment

Yeah, i understand that, but i was comparing with 2K20, the colors were so much better there.
Anyway, i see a lot of people complaining about the colors, especially the floors, maybe they will do something about that...Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
A small thing that I did right away that instantly helped me a lot was to change the color of the shot meter to one that allows me to register the meter movement much sooner.
The default may be the best for some people but for others like me changing it will help a lot.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Agreed. I love the defense but it’s a bit too OP in some instances. Particularly closing out and staying in front of far superior athletes.
There’s no way a prime Lebron should be Locked down on the perimeter by a Brook Lopez, Marc Gasol, etc.
Other than that, game plays fantastic on both ends. Tune down the OP AI defense in some situations and it’s damn near perfect

The right stick user defense is phenomenal though. I have blocked passes, jumpers, and done a ton of stuff with the right stick contest this year that I have never done consistently in other iterations.
I also like the ball physics on deflections and tips.Psn: Alabamarob

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
I'll echo the other impressions by saying that I love the defensive improvements this year. I've only played for a few minutes, so I don't have any in-depth impressions yet. However, from the little I've seen, I can tell that this will be a year where I have to return to the lab to unlearn all the bad habits I picked up from 2K21 after being able to get to the basket at will with any point guard against any defense. I'll have to actually learn how to execute an NBA offense against an NBA defense, a prospect that I find satisfying and worthy of the year-long investment I'm hoping this game will be.
Playing against the Philadelphia 76ers, for example, is tough! I've literally only made 2 baskets after about 20 minutes of gameplay, using different teams against them and playing on Superstar/Hall of Fame with the strength slider at 0. I always turn the strength slider at 0 each year to make for more organic player collisions, but 2K21's bad defensive AI last year made this less enjoyable because it made getting to the basket that much easier.
And thanks to 2K for including the option to turn off all graphical overlays in 2K21 and 2K22 next gen. I'm probably one of the few players out plays all my games without a HUD, when possible, and 2K has included the options to make that possible here: no shot meters, no player indicators, no passing icons, no graphics on screen other than the scoreboard. I find playing games this way more immersive, and in 2K next-gen, it allows me to mimic the look of a real basketball game as much as possible.According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread
Defense has totally been ramped up and I'm glad. I will say though, it may be a little too sticky. Here is a picture of a game I'm currently spectating. It's CPU vs. CPU Raptors vs. Jazz. It's on 12 min. quarters and Pro with no slider adjustments.
Somebody may look at the shooting %'s and think that the CPU is just throwing up bricks like last year even when wide open. The answer to that would be NO lol...because there have been no open shots...zero! Every shot has been contested...nobody beating anybody off the dribble for the exception of a couple of plays...even when switched off on a big. I've also seen that old "the defense catches up in transition on what should be an easy layup or dunk."
Here is the thing...I don't want them to nerf this at all. I would rather defense be too OP and try to work to take it a little rather than what we had last year. I'm thinking it may be the Speed with/without the ball that may need adjusting...at least during CPU v. CPU games??Attached Files"Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

I'll probably play with the meter 2 weeks before I shut it off, but as of now I definitely had to change the color.
I'm firmly against the blind "Don't change anything" logic because I think that can quell nuanced feedback, but I will say that we should at least take in a week of the game before calling on mechanic changes....this is day 1 in our hands.
As far as shot contests, Czar mentioned something about a new sloder they developed for the CPU's reaction time in this video-
Maybe this can be tweaked without neutering the CPU
