The court colors and jersey colors are still too dry/faded. No new signature shots and the leaners and fadeaways that were on last gen still aren’t back. The game as a whole looks and plays virtually identical to 2k21. This isn’t even 2k21.5, it’s just 2k21 with a roster update. For a guy who only plays offline, and doesn’t care for my player anyway, I don’t see any reason to get the game (and I’d been looking for one).
This is not 21 with roster update or 21.5. D is ramped way up. You can’t just drive to the hole at will like you could on 21.

Yeah, that’s just not true at all lol.

            Re: NBA 2K22 Impressions Thread

I was aiming to play non stop until Sunday, but..... I'm done.

Actually quite sad, as the gameplay is really, really good, but after playing 2K20 earlier this evening for reference - there's simply far too many customization options that have vanished for 2k22. (I know...'here he goes again') There's simply not enough variety of animations to equip an entire league with to differentiate players and their sig styles. (Cast your mind back to the PS3 - 2K16 had over 100 plus signature dribble animations, now, on PS5, we're lucky if we have 25)

Absolutely giddy at the mechanics this year, loved the control scheme and was a pleasure to use. Loved having the freedom of full right stick usage for shots again.

In terms of visuals, as the legends aren't as polished as the current day players, so things look pretty much similar to previous games - nothing to shout about there, either.

Couldn't really care about the PA announcers, would've rather them focus on putting accurate arena sounds/music in the game, instead.

Overall, it's upsetting, but I'm not really that surprised. It's a bust for me.

2k11 & 2k16 are still the best I've played, with 2k20 following closely.

Back to the store we go tomorrow to trade 2k22 in.

You can't base it simply off videos. I haven't played the game either but having read pretty much every page of this thread to determine if the game is worth buying now, the changes and differences from 2k21 go beyond visuals and animations. I don't think I've seen one impression indicating the game is basically the same. Everyone that has played the game has said the defense is different, tougher, and for the most part better. Most have indicated dribbling and shooting feels different and the consensus seems to be that both feel quicker and more responsive.

Watching videos for games simply isn't the same as playing them. You can't get a sense of how a game feels and controls from watching videos.

Last year i would get 20+ free throws a game almost always but the cpu rarely got over 10-15. I would say an average of 8-10 with maxed foul sliders and roster edits. 12 minute quarters. It was a common talked about thing so if you managed to get that consistently I would have loved to know how 10 months ago lol.

This year has been the exact same thing for me.

I agree, you can’t. I’ve been basing it off of videos AND the impressions here in this thread. I’ve seen a handful of impressions here and otherwise from people disappointed with the game for some of the reasons I’ve mentioned.

From what I’ve seen/heard it appears to be more or less the same game as last year with minimal changes/improvements and with that being the case, for the first time ever, I likely won’t be getting the game. I think it’s obviously a huge reason why 2k hardly put any info/videos out for 2k22 before it dropped — because it looks virtually identical and from watching the gameplay videos you can’t tel the difference between 2k21/2k22.

Not saying it doesn’t feel different at all, but I haven’t seen nor heard enough to justify paying 70$ for this one.

Wow I’m truly impressed with the gameplay this year, I honestly think this might be the best nba 2k I’ve ever played.

I'm new here on OS. Hello to all. I will keep this short and simple. Yesterday, I purchased the current gen game for Xbox One S (I don't have a next-gen system) and I can honestly say I really like the game so far. I will post more impressions as I go along.

The defense improvement alone makes it vastly different from 2k21. If you are saying you won't touch any NBA 2k game this year then I can agree with you, but if you are just gonna go back to playing 2k21 then you are torturing yourself. That game is atrocious.

Not sure who you've been watching/listening to but 2K22 is so vastly different from 2K21 gameplay-wise that comparing the two is honestly laughable. 2K22, purely from an offline gameplay focus, is by far and away the greatest year-over-year improvement the 2K series has ever seen.

Take it from a guy who has been less-than-polite about the game for the past 3+ years.
