At 00:17 as you can see the defender reacted to pump fake and he is beat. I should have a clear lay-up / dunk path to the rim, that's why i'm attempting it at 00:19 but the defender miraculously recovers and alters the shot. This is not just one example, happens all the time on drives, defender - even very slow ones recover after getting beat by pump fake or etc and alters and blocks the shot.
And this is where opinions vary. I think the contest was fine, and the defender went up with his left hand. I feel like that was something that I did in real life. If I'm beaten where the offensive player got away from me, but I can still make a decent defensive effort then I would try to alter the shot with my left hand too. Hell, I might tried to get greedy and see if I can pin it to the backboard. It's not like the offensive player left the defender completely flat-footed where he turns around and goes "Damn...he's gone.".

      This game is sooo hard

Not a complaint, I need to get good but man this is frustrating getting blown out by the AI on all-star. I'm going back to pro to practice some more.

Oh I am thankful. You gotta earn buckets this year.

One minor gripe though - calling plays is a HASSLE. I always just opt for the top one on a page because I can't get to the d-pad to scroll down.

My only complaints so far are the menus. In the CPU/User Slider menu you still can't switch between User or CPU without being forced back to the top of the menu, instead of the cursor staying on the slider you are already on. Before the past couple years, you could switch back and forth between CPU and User sliders without the game moving you off the slider you're currently editing, and that should definitely make a return.

Also, the OTF menu has a noticeable delay. If I want to call a quick isolation play, I have to wait a full second or so after the menu comes up before it will register my input selecting that play. This is on next-gen, so there certainly should not be ANY delay with something so minor.

Honestly from reading thread and forum this games seems like a buggy mess that plays a decent game on the court. As a franchise player, I may pass for the first time since like 2K10.

Now see this is where I blame 2k....a mass majority including myself is/was screaming defense is too hard(my career mode),but you got Czar giving out tips on how to adjust....I follow Czar so I've seen the video and tweet...While none of these kids with the same issues follow him or probably know who he is(So they are begging for a patch via Twitter)....2k should have a section via in-game or on the 2k youtube page where its Czar breaking down how to play the game and how to adjust this year so there wont be any "patch" ....theres alot of resentment to the new playstyle cause folks are being left out with no guidance to the NEW way you have to approach 2k22...

2k Give Czar his own tutorial session in game to explain the mechanics of 2k next time!!!!The community needs to be familiar with him outside of OS

Defense is obviously more difficult to score on but I really haven't had this impossible task of scoring. I'm on HOF.

I've had to run more plays then I've ever had to. To free up players. You really just have to think on offense this year.

Last year you didn't have to think much. You spammed turbo or ran PNR and it was easy buckets. I wonder if it's just taking people a while to adjust because it was so easy last year.

They definitely change it up. Sometimes they'll hedge and double, sometimes they'll switch, sometimes the hedge defender will just bail on the ballhandler and go back to the screener as he rolls to the rim (typically only if there is additional help coming from elsewhere OR if the on-ball defender went under/fought through the screen quickly), and sometimes the hedge will drop down to give up the midrange shot but protect the rim from the drive or rolling man.

This is on Superstar and HOF difficulty, mind you, so lower difficulties may not be as prone to different defensive strategies.

Good stuff. Have mainly been playing in practice mode to get a handle on the controls. Good to know they mix it up

Drop down to rookie. I was getting curb stomped on allstar. Pro was whipping me up too, just not as bad. But there would be these runs where the CPU makes 4 or 5 threes in a row and just separate from me. Rookie is perfect for me right now. The best thing about it is that the CPU offense is still varied and unique. Each team still plays the same it just the game feels more fair.
