So it is an overheating issue and it is a problem of Microsoft? Is it a problem of 2k22? Both? To me it only happens online, in Series X and playing 2k21 or 2k22 next gen...
    Ignorance is Bliss...

That's the weird thing... It only happens online to me too. Why does it run fine offline and overheat online?

I really hope they find a solution soon.

I tried resetting the console, reinstalling the game, I deactivated 4k, HDR and it happens anyways.

My son plays on a series S with no issues at all.

I encourage all of you with the same issue to open a ticket with 2k support so they are aware that this is happening to a lot of people https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Indirectly, I think it's going to be a future Microsoft problem. In my mind, Madden, F1, and NBA 2K are possibly exposing a performance issue that's causing the XBSX to overheat quickly and then turn off. Microsoft should be working with those companies behind the scenes to find out the problem, so they possible change the architect and/or components if need to be.

I'm no computer nerd, but isn't overheating basically the CPU/GPU working too hard?

Well add me to the list. Has happened twice now. System was hot as hell when I touched it. If it happens again I’m gonna shelve this game until a fix is found.

I haven't had any issues since I disabled Dolby Vision. I'm thinking about leaving the insider Program and just waiting until Dolby Vision is made available for everybody. I don't want my console to get messed up due to bugs and glitches.

So all those having the crashes are using dolby vision yes? Is that what we are saying? OK I've only played about 30 mins of nba so far but I have not had my system shut down on any game so far, even flight simulator. We thinking this is an overheating issue then?

Sounds like it and I am on ps5 my self never cared for xbox but I had a lot and I mean a lot of issues with my launch ps5 freezing, shut its self off, kicking me back to the main menu when I first got the console and after about 3 weeks I was able to exchange it for a new one and sense than have had just about no problems. So its clear my first ps5 was a lemon. For people with xbox and this game hopefully the issue can get fixed.

Here's my personal ranking of how likely certain modes have been to shutdown my Xbox:

                    1) My Team Limited (I tried 4 games and none of them even made it to halftime before shutting down for me or my opponent; only 1 game even made it past the tipoff screen)
                    2) Rec Center (I've only finished 1 game in 6 or 7 attempts)
                    3) Chris Brickley workout (I've only finished 1 game in 4 or 5 attempts)

The Neighborhood seems pretty safe now (I haven't shutdown in there since Friday).

Park and 3v3 Pro Am also haven't shutdown for me since Friday.

2KU and all MyTeam offline modes (Triple Threat, Challenges, Domination) have never caused any issues for my system.

I tried putting my Xbox on power saver mode, turning off the motion blur setting inside 2K's menus, and zooming my 2K camera in all the way so the game wouldn't have to render so many background objects, but none of those changes have helped my situation.

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)

Add me to the list. I have a Series X Console, I have owned this thing about a month and bought it brand new from Microsoft directly.

NBA 2k22 is the only disc game I have owned or played on my system. My TV is not Dolby Vision capable so I do not have that turned on. Building my character was fine, testing my character was fine, doing the G-League games worked fine.

The minute I try to do anything in the neighborhood (Play a Rec Game, Complete Chris Brickley's Shooting Training, or even do the NBA Draft Combine) my system completely shuts down. There are no errors, nothing. It completely turns off and I cannot turn it back on with the controller. The controller light just blinks, I have to manually turn the system on by pressing the button on the system.

I turn the game back on, try again, rinse and repeat.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I have done a complete console factory reset (however I kept my apps and games). My game still makes the system turn off.

I cannot build up my character for the draft, I cannot play any of the online modes. This is crazy and an awful experience for a new first time Xbox Owner. I have owned every previous NBA 2k game on PlayStation.

What do we do? Microsoft doesn't seem to have a support ticket system or anything. I have to chat with a virtual agent or get on the phone. How is the best way to get this fixed? They have NBA 2k22 listed as a game having problems on Xbox Technical Support Website, but it only mentions the game crashing you to the dashboard, not the problem of shutting the system down. This is so frustrating.

Any specific fan model that you'd recommend?

I don't mind throwing $30 or so at trying solving this problem myself before 2K/Microsoft does.

After the patch, mine is not turning off game any more.

pls don't be such a console fanboy and stop spreading misinformations. ps4 and ps5 never turns off consoles especially for nba 2k21 or 22.

Let me rephrase my statement, since you clearly misunderstood my comment. So there were NEVER any cross-platform games where PS owners had problems and XB didn't?
