Whatever roster you're using is locked in the mode, so to speak. Likeness updates will apply, so if 2K updates Giannis' face, it'll update in your MyNBA. Players added by 2K would not be your MyNBA. You would have to add them manually by downloading their player DNA and importing that into MyNBA. That's what I plan on doing once they add Sam Dekker. I tried looking for him in his draft class but he's not there. I like to at least have all the real players on their team but Dekker is not significant enough though for me to hold off on starting my legit MyNBA.

Re: How's your MyNBA Going - 2K22 Edition

So I came to the conclusion I'm the worst GM ever. Need some input here as I clearly don't understand how managing a team, especially surrounding salaries and cap, even remotely works.

Went with the Bulls in MyNBA and traded Derozan and other pieces for Klay Thompson who was on the trading block strangely enough. This was done after starting the season 2-11.

Ended 41-41 and making the playoffs facing the first seed Celtics in the first round. After completely trashing them in game 1, losing game 2 the score was tied in the win or go home game 3 with 26 seconds left. Tatum managed to beat his defender for a layup to put the Celtics up by 2 with 12 seconds to go. Lavine beats his defender goes for the dunk to tie the game but at the last minute the ball gets swatted away for a block...game over Celtics win and my season is over.

I was so shocked I didn't even check who got that gamewinning block. Was intense and insanely fun. Great I was in the offseason and my starting team for that final game was:

      PG - Ball
      SG - Thompson
      SF - Lavine
      PF - Johnson
      C - Vucevic

Lavine was due to hit free agency but I have bird years so nothing can go wrong right?

My starting 5 after offseason is:

      PG - Ball
SG - Randle (rookie picked 2nd)
      SF - Lavine
PF - Some generated rookie 72 overall
      C - Some generated rookie 73 overall

      What went wrong?

Well clearly everything. I traded Thompson for the 2nd pick to the Spurs to clear some cap space. He was due to earn 41 million in the next season. I got the 2nd and White at 18 million cap space. So my thinking is I saved 23 million in cap space correct?

I also traded Vucevic to the Spurs in another trade for some scrub at 4 million cap space to save about 18 million in cap space. Bringing me to a total of 41 million in save cap space. The Bulls were already 31 million in the read so that is 10 million buying power that I saved if I'm not mistaken?

Luxury tax is 51 million positive.

So come free agency I can hardly buy anyone because Lavine's cap hold forces my funds into a dire state. I thought you can use your cap freely without bird years players without any impact on your cap. Then match any offer freely with luxury tax.

Lost almost all my key players and have to restart MyNBA now.

      Lessons learnt:
      - Don't try and build a team through free agency
      - Don't recklessly trade away key players

Some input on how to approach contracts, free agency with key players in your team owning birds years would be greatly appreciated.

Cole Anthony Powers Magic Past Heat

The Magic hit the interstate to pay their in-state rival Miami Heat a visit, and walked out with a victory powered by the efforts of Cole Anthony. Anthony logged in 29 minutes off the bench, and in that time put 36 points on the board, leading the Magic both in minutes and scoring. Anthony's 36 points is the most by any Magic player so far in this early season, and his dominance was highlighted by the fact that it came off of 14-17 shooting. Anthony also scored 6 from the free throw line, and is yet to miss a free throw to this point through 4 games.

Aiding in Orlando's victory was the 3 point shooting, which finally picked up as Orlando shot 33% from behind the arc. Buddy Hield led Orlando's 3 point surge, hitting on 4 of 7. Cole Anthony added 2 of 3, and Terrence Ross and Jalen Suggs also joined the party. If Orlando can maintain a respectable level of efficiency from behind the arc, they should be able to be a competitive team in the Southeastern division. Next up, they will face Lamelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets.

        Rumor Mill
*It's been rumored that Orlando is interested in signing free agent guard Isaiah Thomas to help with their outside shooting. Orlando would need to make some roster moves to clear up some additional cap space if they wanted to make it happen, and it's unclear if the front office is willing to make those moves to bring another addition into an already crowded back-court, particularly someone who is not considered a long term option. We will continue to watch for any developments.

*Mo Bamba seems to be losing playing time to Wendell Carter, Jr. Mo Bamba is still the team's starter, but the team seemed to go away from Bamba in lineups that he would normally be a part of in favor of last season's addition from Chicago. Bamba has been seen as a long term piece by this new front office, but his salary cap jumps to $22 million next season. A change in minutes could be seen as an indication that the Magic aren't seeing Bamba as a long term option, and may opt to invest in Carter instead.
        Current Franchise: NBA2K22 | Orlando Magic (1-2)
        Last Game: W @ NY 93-66
        C. Anthony: 16 pts.
        M. Fultz: 15pts., 4 ast. pts.
        J. Suggs: 14 pts.
        R.J. Hampton: 14 pts.
        M. Bamba: 13 pts., 14 reb.

Played probably 15 full 48min games and not one in-game injury.

Yes and yes. In about a dozen or so MyNBA games I have seen Fox and Embiid go down with injuries in game. I forgot about progressive fatigue but I randomly played a game between the Wizards and Pacers. A few minutes into the 1st I went to sub in Kuzma and noticed that Beal and Bryant were both in the low 80s fatigue wise. All of the Wizard starters were between low 90s and 80s. I don't know if it was the fatigue or me but Beal was terrible shooting the ball the whole game. I sat Beal most of the 4th and let KCP and Kuzma bring it home. I was kind of fun managing the bench and pulling out a road win like that.

That's a mistake btw, his contact doesn't jump to 22 million irl, 2K should fix it.

His QO is around 10 million. Just delete the last year of his contract (the 22 million year) since it's supposed to end this year anyway

                  NYJaguar's Pacers

21-22 / Start of the season update

I decided on managing the Pacers, one of the oldest NBA franchises without a championship. They are a middle of the pack team, with bad injury luck on the last season. Their potential is not clear, but they are still far from being contenders. Without any exciting prospect as a franchise cornerstone, the challenge is there.

I want to get a sense of the team before doing any trades. Since Warren and Levert were injured, this was the rotation for opening week.

                  PG: Brogdon, McConell
                  SG: Lamb, Duarte
                  SF: Holiday, Craig, Brisett
                  PF: Sabonis, Jackson
                  C: Turner, Bitadze

For the first four games (Hornets, Wizards, Heat, Bucks), we struggled with shooting. Lamb was injured more of last season and Duarte still acclimating to the league. We lost those games, some against teams that are direct rivals for the playoffs race. I decided to give Craig the starting SF role over Holiday.

Levert returned for our fifth games, Raptors in Canada, and we found our form with Sabonis on fire.

Since we are carrying 14 players, I'll be looking to add some depth, maybe at the Center position. Lamb and Warren are candidates to be traded during the season since they are on expiring contracts.

I'll be advancing slow to see if there are any additional roster changes in the league in real life. There are a lot of rumors about Simmons to the Pacers, but I don't want him here. Let see how that plays in real life. I played the whole first game (9 minutes), and the locked player for Brodgon, Lamb, Holiday, and Sabonis. I'll keep locking player until I have done so with all the roster.

Re: How's your MyNBA Going - 2K22 Edition

So my first season with the Knicks is in the books. Or at least the regular season is.
In the end the Knicks repeated their feature of last year and finished in the 4/5 matchup in the Playoffs. The problem is: This time it's the 5th seed. And the opponent are the, now healthy, Brooklyn Nets.

The season really finished as crazy as it went all along.

                    The East

                    1. Sixers 69-13
                    2. Bucks 53-29
                    3. Celtics 53-29
                    4. Nets 52-30
                    5. Knicks 47-35
                    6. Hawks 47-35
                    7. Bulls 45-37
                    8. Heat 42-40
                    9. Raptors 40-42
                    10. Hornets 35-47

The Sixers played a nearly perfect season without big injury problems and finished as a strong 1st seed. But everything else was tight to the last game of the season.
And the weirdest possible thing happened in the Play-In Tournament: The 10th seed Hornets gone through it to face the Sixers in the first round.

With my Knicks the arrival of Collin Sexton messed up the role of Kemba Walker a lot, whos scoring really dropped after the trade. But Sexton continued to be great and finished the season with a scoring average of 25.

The Nets are of course a bad matchup, as they are for every team in the league. They struggled with health issues all year, but starting the playoff run completely healthy.

                    The West

                    1. Warriors 53-29
                    2. Pelicans 50-32
                    3. Jazz 50-32
                    4. Clippers 50-32
                    5. Blazers 48-34
                    6. Suns 47-35
                    7. Nuggets 46-36
                    8. Mavs 44-38
                    9. Lakers 44-38
                    10. Grizzlies 37-45

This was even crazier: No team got any seperation all year. The Warriors managed to stay in 1st most of the year behind a MVP year from Steph Curry leading the league in scoring. Bad news: Klay, who just got back from his injury will miss at least the 1st round of the playoffs again, making the 1st round matchup even tougher. Funny enough they are not facing the Lakers, who lost the final play-in game against the Nuggets. So again no championship for Lebron, who's time is really running out here.
The other spot went to the mavs, who will face the Pelicans.

My bet for the NBA Finals are the Warriors and the Nets, assuming Klay is coming back for the later rounds again. But maybe the Sixers are finishing the season as strong as they started it, it will be interesting.

This has happened to me before. But it was in previous versions of the game. I feel like when I add too many creative teams or change cities, the game gets too heavy and crashes.

Fox was out about 2 weeks with a shoulder injury. I cant remember how long Embiid was out because his injury happened in the 4th and it was TBD. I just looked and Embiid is back now so it couldn't have been more than a week.

Are you guys seeing in game injuries? Or should I turn that slider up?

And related: If I turn the injuries slider up, does that mean other teams will have more injuries in their simmed games, or does that slider just apply to in game injuries that happen while we’re playing? ‘Cause the latter could create a mess.

In regards to the in-game injuries. I've seen Vucevic go down in-game. Was out about 2 weeks.

So after just butchering my Bulls team I restarted MyNBA with the Bulls again.

I resisted trading DeRozan and glad I did. I tried getting rid of some of the fringe players that won't get much gametime and the Lakers offered me Anthony for two of them. I then picked up Cousins as a Free agent and are just dominating the league now.

Now I have a great starting 5 and depth. The pick and roll game between Ball, Caruso, Cousins, Anthony and Vucevic is just plain filthy.

                                Starting 5 is:
                                PG - Ball
                                SG - Lavine
                                SF - Derozan
                                PF - Anthony
                                C - Vucevic

White is my 6th man and Cousins gets a fair share of minutes alongside Williams.

We are blowing out teams left right and center and currently have the 2nd best record in the East behind the Nets.
