Gameplay wise, I have had trouble consistently scoring so far, I find this game a lot more challenging than the past few years. Any tips?
Get your sliders right. I had to boost my shooting sliders and nerf CPU shooting sliders to make the game manageable. Then as you get the hang of it, raise theirs and lowers yours bit by bit until you get to your ideal slider levels.

Run auto plays and use those. Makes a difference. Run picks when useful, etc.

      2056 Blazers/Knicks : The postseason part1

The years of disappointment continue for the Blazers as they fall in round1 to a sneaky good GSW after a hard fought 7 game series. Promising 2nd year player Bobby Stephens is tested for the first time in the playoffs, and while he did well for much of the series, he basically shoots the Blazers out of game 7, going 10-38 from the field, and gets his ankles broken giving up a huge stepback 3 late in the 4th quarter.

Unfortunately he fell victim to a tendency that has ruined many guys with superstar OVR but no playoff success: a love of midrange pullups. Going hard at the rim and getting into a layup animation is superior 95% of the time, but Stephens doesn't have the aggression to do so and settles for contested midrange pullups, which is tied for the worst shot in 2k21 (the others are postup fades or hooks).

I have seen other guys who looked bad early grow into a more efficient game as they matured (best example was RJ Barret, who I too quickly traded off the Knicks for being an inefficient chucker, only to later sign to the Blazers as a key 2nd banana to Lillard in 3 championships). So I'm hoping Stephens gets either the attributes to make attacking the rim more likely, or the attributes/badges to have these midrangers go in more then 20% of the time.

        2021 - Midseason update

Sitting at 23-18, we are currently 6 on the Eastern conference standings. Right around where we expected to be. After a slow started, the team started to gel together. I was ready to trade Lamb away for future assets, but Caris Levert got injured and he'll probably miss the rest of the season. Lamb got more confident and better, but I'm currently starting Duarte as my SG. I want to develop him, and he also gives me more confident defensively. Lamb is doing well with the second unit. Rookie Isaiah Jackson will also be missing a couple of months.

I'm unsure of how to improve the team (for this season or the future). I don't want to disrupt what we have going and blow the team away. I don't want to spend picks to get better. We'll see where do we stand at the deadline.

        League Overview
Bucks, Celtics and 76ers are leading the east. Atlanta is currently out of the play-in.
In the West, Lakers, Mavericks and Clippers are top of the table. Warriors and Nuggets still out of the play-in, but fighting their way back. Spurs are surprisingly last in the standings.

Ben Simmons finally got traded to Sacramento for Hield and Beagley III. Sacramento is doing everything possible to get their first taste of playoffs in a while.

Man I play on Superstar and if it’s a bad team it’s a guaranteed 30 point win and if it’s a good team I either blow them out or get blown out. No close games idk what to do. I don’t find HOF fun idk maybe gotta look into sliders

God imagine if after all this, that's what Morey gets for Simmons.

I don't know how to deal with decent but not great teams either. If I don't have a bankable superstar or multiple allstars I just blow it all up and start tanking.

            2056 Blazers/Knicks: Playoffs part 2, the Knicks

After NYKs best player Ervin Price went down for the season in the opener, I would not have pegged them to go farther than the Blazers in the postseason, and in fact they nearly missed the playoffs altogether. However guys just stepped up and filled Price's shoes.

The biggest improvement was in 4th year player Alton Franklin, who made The Leap. He'd always had good instincts, attacking the rim hard and firing 3s at the slightest bit of daylight, but in prior years his tendencies were writing checks his attributes couldn't cash. This year it all came together and he was good for 25/7 on solid efficiency during the playoff run.

The biggest credit goes to Dillon Wall, a 30 year old SG who had been content to be a 2nd or 3rd option avg 16 ppg his whole career, blossoming into a go-to scorer on killer effiency, posting lines like 37 points on 18-25 shooting. He claimed finals FMVP with 33 PPG shooting 52% from the field and from 3, leading NYK to a 4-1 victory against a gritty Grizzlies team.

After the celebrations the offseason holds a lot of uncertainty. Wall and Franklin's contracts are expiring and due to get a lot more expensive, as are the contracts of several other solid rotation players. Difficult decisions will have to be made on who to keep and who to let go.

Was this an AI trade or did you do it manually? I feel like the trade logic has quietly gotten a lot better this year.. I remember in 2k20 coming up with this trade myself because 2k suggested trades were so awful. Now I've noticed both on the forum and playing myself lots of reported AI trades that actually make a bit of sense.

For example I'm playing as the Wizards (manually traded Beal for Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle package) and I was just offered by the Pistons Kelly Olynyk & Saben Lee for Thomas Bryant and Isaiah Todd.. Makes perfect sense for both teams, Pistons get a stab at a young offensive big man (who's about to hit RFA) to pair with Stewart and the Wiz get Olynyk who's more versatile, and we're already sorted at C with Gafford & Harrell. Nice to see some improvement in this aspect of the game.

I did it myself. I also have noted good AI trades (I still have the veto option). Something that I would like to see is more draft picks as part of packages, both in the trade finder and in AI generated trades.

                  Post-trade deadline Update

We are currently fourth with a 38-28 record. We are comfortable and looking forward to finishing in a strong position (even if we would probably meet the Sixers or the Nets in the first round). Before the trade deadline, we sent Justin Holiday and a second to the Pelicans for Garret Temple and a future Bucks first. We had a backlog at the Shooting Forward position, with plenty of shooting guards also available. Temple is a good veteran that wouldn't be playing too many minutes. We also shipped Kelan Martin to the Spurs for basically a late second.

Sabonis was selected for the All-Star game. Chris Duarte participated in the Rising star games. Levert returned from injury, but we lost Brogdon for around 4 weeks (up to the end of the regular season). A devastating back injury would sit Isaiah Jackson for the rest of the season, leaving us pretty thin at the frontcourt. I ended up signing Jeff Green, recently bought out by the Pistons (traded midseason). Green is a veteran that should be helpful in the playoffs.

                  League overview
Celtics, Bucks, and Bulls are sitting ahead of us. Sixers and Nets, still recovering from the early season drama, are fifth and sixth. Hawks, Raptors, Wizards, and Heat are in the Play-In position. Knicks and Cavaliers are just a few games behind.

In the West, Clippers, Pelicans, Jazz and Lakers look comfortable. Kings, Mavericks, and Grizzling fighting to avoid the Play-In. Timberwolves, Suns, Trail Blazers, and Warriors are still hopeful. The big surprise is that the Nuggets and the Spurs are really bad, both at the bottom of the conference.

I was playing this game. I don't know what people are talking about 2k21. 2k21 was the worst MyNBA of all time. 2k22 is a thousand times better. They made a lot of small fixes and changes that make the mode GOAT like.

The gameplay is not that good, especially the user defense, but that generally always changes with patches.

                      Blazers/Knicks 2059

We left things off with the Knicks winning the 2057 Finals and the Blazers bounced in the first round 3-4 to GSW, with budding star Bobby Stephens shooting 10-38 in game 7 and me expressing concern with his love for terrible pullup jumpers.

Then the 2058 playoffs started with a gut punch, with promising rookie PG Kaya Mansiz injured for the playoffs in game2. He'd had a great game 1 and was a perfect fit as an unselfish pass-first PG, I actually turned the game off after this happened feeling quite frustrated.

However Stephens rose to the occasion and made a leap to true stardom, carrying the Blazers to the finals and a dominating win over the returning Knicks. I'd kept that 2057 championship Knicks team together as well as possible, paying the key players. And they did make it back to the finals, only struggling in a 4-3 win over 2056 champs the Celtics. Maybe it was just a bad series, and two of the Blazers key stars (Barea and Reed) were 33 and 34 years old and declining. Could they beat the Blazers next time around?

Well, I ran it back again in 2058-59 and the answer is no, they can't beat the Blazers. Another finals berth, another series where they stood little chance. Between Franklin, Price and Wall the Knicks have 3 guys who can drop 40 points on any given night...but it's always just one guy doing well. They don't play as a team, they don't seem to make each other better. Maybe it's because there's no clear hierarchy, no certain alpha-dog.

Meanwhile as some of the Blazers stars decline (slower than expected), Bobby Stephens keeps ascending. Not only has he become more aggressive and effective at attacking the rim, the midrange falls a lot more consistently and it's nearly impossible to totally stop him. As I watch him finish off the Knicks right now he's on pace to average 45 ppg in the finals.*

This leaves the Knicks in a conundrum. You're good enough to make the finals consistently. If you get anyone other than the Blazers, you will probably win the finals. But the Blazers have swept you two years running, and while they have age issues, Stephens is 22, and your key guys are 28-30. Are the Blazers gonna trend down before you do? Do you dare make big changes and risk getting worse?

*EDIT: Stephens turned on the jets in the 2nd half and ended with 63 points in game 4, the greatest playoff scoring performance I've witnessed since Damian Lillard dropped 66 points in the 2024 finals. NOT looking good for the Knicks :o

Can you talk about some of these changes? I'm still debating whether or not to pick it up and MyNBA is the main mode I play. It seems like the biggest changes were to staff. Have you noticed any difference in the actual play/immersion other than it just adding another thing to do?

I'm mostly interested in if the domestic/international scout makes any difference, or if the extra coaches (bigman, shooting, etc) do. Do you direct them in any way, or is it just that you hire them and that's it?

You just hire them and afaik that's it. I think the more scouts you have the more players you can scout. As far as I can tell the coaching staff doesn't seem to alter anything but maybe I just haven't noticed it.

With so many new roles I wish they'd add a more advanced filter so I can sort by > head coaches or >shot doctors etc instead of just sorting by attributes like say Bball IQ

Does anyone know of some good "money plays"/set plays for pick and pop situations? I traded for Vucevic in MyNBA but all the plays I've spent time mastering are for corner 3s, post scoring or pick and rolls.

Looking for something that will help me create some space, preferably around the high post/elbow so I can utilize Vucevics' shooting and post scoring from there. Even something that gives him a decent look from deep would be better than nothing.
