Re: NBA 2k22 reviews on Metacritic score

OpenCritic has it a 70 with 9 critic reviews so far. Game should be lower than that if we are to be honest. Bugs/glitches that haven’t been fixed in years. MyNBA/MyLeague having the same issues year after year (one of them being generated draft classes having issues that make the mode unplayable). It just seems that a lot of people give NBA 2K a pass, while Madden gets s*** on constantly. NBA 2K been on a downward spiral for a while. Just glad to see reviews reflecting that finally.

The my nba fans(old heads like me) are the reason 2k has grown so big but since the microtransactions has come around 2k had moved on from us and now they only cater to the paid crowd.

5 days is fine. Hell even a week or two is passable.

But “takes weeks and no eta in sight” implies it can take a long time and many of us invest tons of time into building rosters which is now a gamble as we don’t know if it’ll all be for waste (if MyNBA isn’t playable for us for a long time if at all).

So I have two options: Go back to 2K21 with its horrendous washed out colors and bad defense (which I’ve kind of corrected by mastering sliders), or play 2K22 on the crappy “workaround” fake broadcast cam which is barely better than “Rail.” Or just stop playing my favorite hobby and pastime currently.

I too have a demanding job. I don’t even want crazy features. My happy place is simply playing MyNBA on broadcast cam with MJ. That’s all I need. I like good defense and accurate red colors. I don’t think it’s too much to ask. Yet somehow, between the last two 2K “next gen” games, I literally can’t get that. I can’t get one game to meet those extremely simple requirements in their last two releases. It’s simply unacceptable.

This is my first ever early 2K purchase. It’s been lovely lmao. I’ve never been a “2K sucks” person and always thought they were overreacting. But I now understand the visceral massive negativity the company generates from its users.

To me, it’s clear they don’t have priority on this fix and they’re tempering expectations with the responses they have given.

They finally release a good sim game and we can’t play it on the most basic/sim modes. It’s kinda hilarious actually.

We never left just kept our mouth closed hoping things get fix but now it's time to speak why 2k not being transparent about franchise mode few years in hiding
Then next year they will add onto it but ignore the bugs 2k original customers been screaming about
It's like letting your friend drive your new car and he tells you something is wrong with it and you only response was getting new speakers for it instead of taking it to the shop😒

Re: NBA 2k22 reviews on Metacritic score

When it comes to review scores, IMO it really depends if we're talking current gen or next gen. While I'll readily admit that next gen looks fun and interesting, when I played 22 at a friends house on current gen(PS4) I was not impressed at all. Still all of the same issues as 21 (incompetent team mates that cannot execute on either side of the ball and fail to box out, cpu opponents making too many shots over defenders, etc.) and from what I saw "the neighborhood" (aka The GOAT Boat) is just bad. To me it felt like they took 21, played around with the sliders a little bit, and released it as a new game.

For my personal needs, this game didn't come close.

2k11, 16 & 20 are all superior products in my eyes.

I'd give 2k22 a 70 at best, too. It's full of bugs and has downgraded in terms in player sig customization.

Hell, we're running PS5's now and they STILL can't give the option to rotate a player in the jumper selection screen?

                    Pffft.

Re: NBA 2k22 reviews on Metacritic score

Another factor we should think about:

NBA 2K is an annual game. Telling you to have all the patience to wait for them to fix the game in the coming months is basically THROWING MONEY AWAY!

If the game is released with problems and takes 2 months to fix this, the game life now is 10 months.

So, ok, bugs happen, but there are bugs that are unacceptable and fixes need to be FAST!

Can someone name me a game that had a recent "perfect" launch? I'm to the point that the people who can't handle dealing with the glitches/bugs on Day 1 launches should really reevaluate when they should buy games.

The game shipped with some crazy bugs. They are fortunate the people who couldn't play MC didn't catch on publicly. There are still major MyNBA bugs amongst others.

That said, the fact that many sides of the community, (and 2K has many) have said their having fun again speaks more than any score. I'm in that boat. The game could have a metacritic score of -7 for all I care.

NBA 2k is a free to play MTX/Pay to play game they charges $70-$100 for.
2k lied about all the new PA announcers.
They removed all camera views from MyNBA.
They have not fixed any bug from MyNBA in years.
They add nothing to MyNBA in dev cycles.
                            Draft classes are broken.
You can't even play a multi season franchise because it has never worked.

Besides adding the "season pass" type updates to online modes and a roster update, and a game play patch 2k adds nothing of value and release the same game for a new $70-$100 price.

I am sorry franchise is the heart and soul of any sports game. EA/2k try to pretend that this is not the main mode but it is. You can't have MTX/Gambling/Cash scams in franchise so they lie say nobody plays it. When the truth is they can't scam you with franchise.

Since franchise sucks the players base for these modes become small. What your attract are idiots and gambling addicts which generates more money from dumber people.

And with all this said, you still pre order it and play on day one. Just like you will next year.

It's important to say that he has every right to do this ok?

See, buying a game on DAY ONE and the game is destroyed for bugs IS NOT a user's/buyer's fault, it's the developer's fault.

This needs to be made very clear.

In that case, I even agree with you!

The gameplay is great and yes it is very cool to play. And I also think that sites scores are no reason for you not play any game.

But, in other point of view, USER ratings are important for the developer to understand that something has gone wrong. It´s 2K22 case!

2K22 is a great game, but it was BROKEN, on release, because of many bugs.
