It’s be cool if next year they incorporated the Olympics and FIBA, Olympic qualifiers, all that stuff into franchise and myplayer. I doubt they could ever get the rights but it would be cool to get Euroleague in there too somehow. I know that’s extremely unlikely, but getting the Olympics in there would be pretty cool.

Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
Wow, great call on Spriggs and Kupchak. I think I wrote those two off as generics but there does seem to be a resemblance to Spriggs and Kupchak, right on down to Kupchak's knee brace.Well, I guess I throw my hat in with the rest of the old who came out of woodwork because of this announcement.
I'm back.
I was late to the party, but went through the thread and ya'll already covered a lot of what I would say but I do a couple observations to add.
When it comes to the rosters, as many have said, there will undoubtably be gaps the the community has to fill. However, I remain hopeful we have some pleasant surprises in store.
Some things I have yet to see mentioned that I picked up on after doing a close examination of all the video and photo evidence I could find.
1) In the NBA 2k23: MyNBA trailer on Youtube @ 1:44 where Ice Man is shooting the jumper. On the far right you can see the end of the Lakers bench. This being from the 83-84 season I believe from left right that is Larry Spriggs #35 and Mitch Kupchak #25. If correct seems like some teams may have fairly deep benches as those two rank 11th and 12th out of 13 when comes to games played that season.
2). Same video @ 3:34 when Scottie and MJ are celebrating winning vs the Lakers. Two players jumped out to me as "Who is that?" #44 and #6. I was able to read the back of the #6 Jersey and its says Royal. This leads me to believe that it is Donald Royal who has been in the game before so no shock he exist, but if this is supposed to be the 91 finals, Royal played in Europe that season. This leads me to believe that he since was in the league in 89-90(T'Wolves) he would be on the FA list of NBA players. If clip of the celebration is from a sim that was run while testing like was mentioned in the article from Forbes(I think) they Chicago could have signed him during sim. Only explanation I could come with for him being there. I think if he is a FA that again speaks to a level of detail. As for who #44 is, I have no idea.
3) In the MyTeam video @ 1:15 you can see Butch Carter #12 of the Pacers behind Bird. I am unsure if he has been in any version of 2k before.
Needless to say I'm hyped.
I'm going to remain guarded as to the makeup of all rosters, but that's a promising sign.Comment

Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
The lack of any serious footage is definitely one of the reasons I’m not pre-ordering and it’s baffling to me. Why are they not showing us anything, besides a few screens and the occasional trailer. Not even a hype trailer for this crazy mode, but a random dude talking about what’s already written in the blog…there’s definitely a reason and 2k marketing has always been quite bad, but this year must be the worst. No demo, no interviews, no interaction.
Usually I’d lean toward agreeing with you, but this has been 2K’s marketing M.O. for the last 3-4 years. They are radio silent until a month before release, then put out one “deep dive” blog per week, then the week of release they show gameplay.Comment

Man it does suck that we wont have many questions answered until next week until after the game goes gold. I just remember the community events and other things we found out a while back...but we we will see..only 12 dayts left!Comment

Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
If your theory is right on Donald Royal, then #44 could be Adrian Caldwell who had been with Houston the previous season and went to Europe in 91-92. If they went deep enough to add era specific free agent pools, then that is very exciting. We could potentially get recently retired players sitting in free agency.Well, I guess I throw my hat in with the rest of the old who came out of woodwork because of this announcement.

I honestly thought the historic teams in 2k had pretty deep rosters. Most of them went like 10 deep.Comment

Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
After watching the Jordan Challenge trailer few times and seeing the 1996 NBA Finals on Bulls floor, I think the biggest omission of the details in history is that there’s no shortened 3pt line during those years (‘94-‘97). It would have been a nice addition. I always thought it should have been there in old MJ Challenge on 2K11. Oh well.Comment

Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
After I made that post I went on basketball-reference and checked all the players that wore #44 that season. Caldwell was one of my top suspects, but I hope that it was Harvey Grant and in that particular 'What If' universe the brothers won 1(or possibly 3) titles together. If your theory is right on Donald Royal, then #44 could be Adrian Caldwell who had been with Houston the previous season and went to Europe in 91-92. Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
I realized something as well... I HOPE the next team is on here is the Atlanta Hawks as they had their MUCH ANTICPATED throwback change in 1992-93 season... also hoping that in 1994-95 season, they are adding the alternates...

I wonder do we have to train the rookies or they will come to form on its own?
Same with the rosters of each eraComment

Re: Rewrite NBA History in NBA 2K23 with All-New MyNBA Eras
My personal philosophy, for the sake of my own sanity, is that if it's an obscure or super minor detail then I'm planning on it not being included.
My guess is they hit everything they mentioned in the blog, which is a metric ton of details (100 new courts, new jerseys, at least some new players, new rules, new filters, new commentary, new ads) and all those tiny in-between details (like the NBA at 50) generally won't make the cut.
That being said, if they stick to fleshing this mode out year after year, man, imagine the potential for growth with this thing. There's so many of those cool details they could add in subsequent years.
- Era specific looks for certain players who went through transformations (skinny Shaq turning into huge Shaq, normal Rodman turning into Spurs/Bulls Rodman, guys like Pippen transitioning beyond the flat tops).
- The NBA at 50 decals (in fact, decals as a whole, like the giant center court championship trophies in 2005 or the NBA Playoffs decals form years past)
- Adjusted 3-point line in the mid-90's
Lot of possibilities there.Comment
