I like user timing. I previously went with no meter in 22 but idk shooting is harder this season. I might have to turn the meter back on.

It feels like there’s a bigger learning curve this year than in years past.

For those of you who use real player %, what factors go into a shot going in or not? I don’t think I’ve ever grasped the concept of real player %. Is it his career % or just some arbitrary number that changes from season to season/ week to week?

Just wondering if I should just keep sticking it out until I get better at user timing or go with real player %.

And just incase it means anything, I am talking offline single player MyNBA Eras mode only.

I use real player % for 2 reasons....1) I don't have time to spend all day learning each players perfect release point. 2) Player FG % is kept track of and worked into the game for a reason. I like my players shots to be based off the odds that player will hit the shot or not, rather than my ability to get a perfect release every shot and have that definitively affect the outcome of the shot.

I ALWAYS use % for FT because that can be automatic with timing.

        My thing is this....

When I use timing. I remove the meter. Can't stand it. Takes away from the experience in my opinion. The game is beautiful. I don't want to watch a bar fill up the entire time.

I also like the camera cuts when you green a shot. It's small. But sometimes it's satisfying in the midst of a big run to get that camera change and nail a huge shot. (Usually gets me out of my seat!)

With real % I am a little confused on how it works. Since timing doesn't matter I can hold shoot as long or little as I want?

I like the idea that ratings matter, but I also don't seem to have games where I can't make anything. Like poor shooting nights don't seem to happen.

(Maybe because I'm the bulls and that MJ guy is pretty good)

I've had close games and blow outs with both. So I'm still up in the air with what I like best. Maybe I lean towards timing.

But I will try some of these options with the sliders. Always open for changes.

IMO real fg with free throws is as close to automatic as you can get. Very rarely do I miss more than 2 a game with over 20
        Attempts.

For the people who use real % and have done that for years have you been tempted to switch now that there are different timing windows (I've found that late or very late is more comfortable for me).. over the years I've flip flopped between real % and timing but made the full switch this year because I wanted a more challenging experience

No. I want the player’s skill to dictate his release. I don’t find enjoyment from trying to time a jump shot. It just stresses me out and makes the game less fun.

I absolutely understand why people enjoy it, and I have used various timing controls in basketball games for decades. If I’m playing MyPlayer, I’d go with timing, as I’m just thinking for one player, not five, plus the coach.

Also, I play all the sports games. I don’t have the time, nor interest, to master timing when I might go a few days while playing Madden, FIFA, and NHL. It’s why I use directional hitting in MLB, don’t use the double click shooting in FIFA, and use aim assist in NHL.

Especially in NHL, I would become better by mastering these better inputs. And I think if you want to play head to head online, you need to. If a guy can increase the shooting % of his team by 5-10%, then you are just giving away points by sticking with real %.

But I only play solo these days.

I switched back to user timing. It feels a lot better I was using Real player % in Rec missing everything and my teammates hated me

I love that they have the option for both (letting us choose is always a good choice) but I am 100% real player for several reasons:

                1. I am oldish (56) and the first half of my life simulating sports meant stats - those old pong controllers didn't have an option for timing. so it is just what I am used to
                2. I have been simulating sports games since I was about 6 and I crave as much realism as possible. every sports game timing joystick tends to follow the same pattern - I suck, this seems about right, I am too good at it now which throws all of the realism out. at least it used to - for the most part I use settings to increase the mental\coaching\gm side of things and reduce the joystick side of things
                3. also age related I do most of my gaming while on the treadmill and that leads to a little less control (although does add a whole new fatigue factor)
                4. again I am so happy they give us the option - I may be old, but I am not a "get off my lawn" guy. Most people who play these games like my kids probably grew up controlling everything and would find not controlling boring - why would I want to ruin their game? lf you want to play that way awesome, great, enjoy it. I will never understand people that can only enjoy things if it is ONLY their way. takes all kinds of kinds

I like the randomness of real FG % and this is first 2K I went to it. I feel release points based solely on timing of your apex releases has nothing to do with the real game of basketball. The knowledge you know of the game and the players you are using really make a difference sticking with the real FG % option imo

For me it’s always been shot timing. But I understand the concept behind Real% shooting and I got no problems with anyone wanting to use that option. The key is OPTIONS. Thankfully 2K has given us that feature.

As stated in a previous post, learning the individual timing and nuances of a certain player’s jumpshot is not easy. For those who buckle down and practice on that as myself, doesn’t matter if it goes in every time or not. That is a result of the practice I put myself through so to go from that level of control to where the computer and situation dictates if the shot goes in or not, well for myself I could not stand that.

Another reason I use real FG.

I can look at late passing options when im going up with shot. I can switch to rebounders. I can focus on running plays looking for options. All this without need to focus on shot release. Plus I love seeing accurate sig shots so I can appreciate them without having to look at a meter or just the hands.

I use the bar with its slider at 0.
I like to feel responsible for the shot, but I also need realism.

One thing that is bothering me though is free throw: both with real player % and user timing (with slider difficulty at 90) I end up with over 90% makes (for me and cpu). Am I the only one with this problem?

I use Real % but am having an issue with not enough swishes which I know has been a problem. How are you guys combatting that? Any specific slider?

I'm a User Timing guy and I'm still struggling to get a realistic number of swishes. I think they overcorrected a bit on the patch after so many swishes at the start of the year. Even 80 to 90 percent of my perfect-release free throws are hitting rim first.

I'm getting a good number of swishes., maybe too much? Not sure what would cause the discrepancy. It shouldn't matter I would think but my shot timing impact slider is at 0. I can't really think of anything else. It shouldn't have any effect on real player %, but I do recall seeing people that use user timing lowering that and seeing more swishes. Maybe there is some code tangling present
