Real % as timing is just ridiculous. Not perfecting a release is automatic miss?! Come on now…where’s the variety factor, suspense of not knowing if it’s make or miss, the crazy shots that go in in real life even w/ late / early release and even being off balance etc?! Played my first full game yesterday, switched to % in the 2nd half and finally got some 3pt shots to fall, including a buzzer beater game winner!! So much more fun and realistic, which is ironic.

I like to feel responsible for the shot, but I also need realism.

One thing that is bothering me though is free throw: both with real player % and user timing (with slider difficulty at 90) I end up with over 90% makes (for me and cpu). Am I the only one with this problem?
No that problem exists for several years now. Free throws are just way, way too easy. i shoot above 80 % even with Ben Simmons from the line, with average to good free throw shooters you will always end up with 90+%.

I have free throw difficulty at 70 and it’s not easy for me at all with user timing. Shooting a very realistic amount now. Free throws finally feel chancy and nerve wracking like they do in real life.

Real FG%, I want it more to be about the players skill than my ability to hit a bar. I will run the plays to try and get the good players open. game just feels more satisfying that way. I made the switch to it many versions ago and havent looked back.

Does user input have any impact when real % is used? Does how open the shot is have any impact?

Real Player is the opposite of User timing. User timing the weight of the timing part determines the shot is going to go away then the ratings is a player. Real player just does the opposite of that. It weighs the player rating over your release time. You can still **** up the release. It just don't count as much.

I've been using Real Player on my switch. The delay is too much. I don't want to re learn things I already learned on the other console

Oh interesting, so release timing can still impact real player percentage?

Is there a slider that can create more hot or cold streaks?

Only downside of real FG is that shooting percentages are mostly in the same ranges.

THIS is the reason that I’ve ultimately just went back and stuck it out with user timing. I just never see any hot/ cold streaks using real %.

I'd love it if they brought back RP for online. But I'd settle for making a few yellow releases. Used to be if you timed it a little late or a little early it may or may not go in. This year it's green or nothing and I don't like that one bit. Not every shot people make in the NBA is a swish. You see some bounces both bad and good. 2k had some of the best rim physics ever the last few years but it's quite frustrating knowing if you didn't green you're broke.

There has to be a medium man. Some people like an over emphasis on timing, I don't. I want to take good looks and go from there.

Pretty embarrassing when you're 0-2 so they just don't pass you the ball and your man is just wreaking havoc on your teammates.

I just can't find enjoyment with this game. Real % shooting just isn't engaging to me... but any timing setting is just too much about getting a perfect release, seemingly regardless of who's shooting. It's miserable

                              Another reason for real fg.

With timing you don’t all that awesome landings and follow throughs in sig jumpers

Re: Shooting: Real Player % vs User timing…which do you use and why?

Doesn't help that every game mode has a different timing. I dominated all day long on 1v1. Got to my Gold ranking thinking that if people saw me on Gold maybe they'd pass me the ball if I'm open more.

Miss your first shot and people think youre trash.

Your defender says all the way off you to the paint so you can't drive anymore.

Who would want to play COD if the ONLY way you kill people is head shots? Would you play a Fantasy RPG that only registers crit damage? What about a fighting game where you only get one move?

I get it. They wanted to make the cheeses have to work harder. The idea is only the best of the best should be able to shoot. The problem with that is the entire NBA is not Steph Curry. He is 1 of 1. There are plenty of poor and middling shooters who are out there to play a role. I'm happy they opened up player creation. You can have dribble, defense, and finishing on one build. In Career it feels amazing being able to play the way I want to play.

I wouldn't be so salty tho if I could be HALFWAY consistent.

I say this all the time. If I'm taking smart shots I should be rewarded. A WIDE OPEN look should be valued not penalized. A player with a 70 rated jumper shouldn't be able to green every shot. I get that. Even a few years ago people with 60 and 50 rated jumpers could green. That's so far to the other end, I get how that's frustrating.

But needing a 99 three to hit 3/5 is not realistic. Because at that point the 99 three guy gets HIS timing down with HOF badges and the rest of us are screwed.

I can't imagine how maddening the H2H players feel right now. Reggie Bullock and Dorian Finney-Smith are capable shooters. But if I picked up a Play Now Online game and tried to shoot with those guys without practicing were going to look like the Lakers have to start the season.

No... A smart shot should always be valued highest. Shot selection and rating should matter more than anything else. How many times have you gotten a Load up animation that threw off your timing? How many times have you been in the middle of a shot animation and because you're online the game skips a frame due to connection lag and you throw an airball?

I get the contest system. I do. I actually really enjoy playing defense this year. If you Step on someone they're going to brick. LOVE THAT.

But I don't wanna play like Tony Allen. That's not my playstyle. I want to be the everything guy. Passing, defense, finishing, and shooting. Not great at anything but competent at everything.

The cheesers are gonna cheese every year. Last year with RP% on in the Park I showed everyone what Park should be played like. I moved the ball, got to my spots, and because I was rewarding my teammates and they could trust me to be knock down we ANNIHILATED most try hard squads. Towards the end of the year when people really started to catch on to RP everyone was using it.

I really enjoyed the competitive play last year. I missed the first few seasons and was able to get to Legend right before the end of the year.

I just wanna make a few white releases Wang. That's all. Just give me SOME love for being wide.
