I’ve done exactly that! I got it playing perfectly for myself right now. Almost accidentally downloaded the latest update and I was wait nope… cancel lol.

I’d turn auto updates off and stick with it if my son didn’t also play my career and my team. I only play myGm or Eras or whatever you want to call it.

I just wish that the changes weren’t so extreme. I’ll give it a try over lunch break and see how it feels. Crossing my fingers guys can make some contested shots again while also missing sone open shots.

How do you adjust the contest to make it less effective? Lower or raise? Would that help shooters that aren’t as good make less wide open threes?

I've never hit one contested shot on default hof past maybe 17 ft. Never even got an and 1 shooting 3s but the cpu has. Still on season 2 btw. Will never update it until the game is back in an equal or better state. Never understood why they update the game to play worse. Wish some devs would stop by every now and then like they did at launch to chime in

Yeah this is the way to go, except you lose out on all the players/coaches/updates 2K made since launch. I posted about this in another thread but these “Season” updates suck balls. I wish everything was made available from the get go so I can use stated method above.

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better

So only a 1 game sample but it was better. But the team I played was better as well. Not as good as before the patch but better. Since it's 1 game though I don't want to get my hopes up too high.

Played Atlanta as Sixers. It was a tight game I won 116-115. Young was 13-32 and maybe 6-15 from three which is way better than it has been. Plus it didn't feel like guards shooting most of the shots. I was able to get the hole really easy at the end of the game with Harden but Young was tired and I had rested Harden a little but midway through the 4th. Might have to let CPU auto-sub just so I can't take advantage of them playing the other team the whole 4th.

I was also able to hit a more mid-range when open and hit a couple contested shots, at least they looked contested which is what matters to me. Also still missed some wide open but not many. Using Schnaidt's sliders. Hawks shot 34% from three which I am happy with if it continues and there are some guys where they get hotter. I shot 49% which is too high but with one game sample I'll take it. Also I was mostly wide wide open when I hit them.

Also seems like Free Throws are still screwed up. I took 30 Free Throws and was 28-30. CPU took 10 and was 3-10. Young was 0-2, Johnson was 0-4, Hunter 1-2 and someone else 2-2. If you leave the percentages up there are a bunch of free throws that are 0%. Something is going on with free throws. I am going to lower Shot timing impact for CPU to 0 and see if it does anything.

I'll try later tonight and see how it goes with a different game. Like to see it a few games in a row.

I use schnaidts sliders and have shot timing to 0 for both. The cpu is still very hit and miss with free throws and often will miss badly short, even with great shooters.

That’s too bad. This is a bug with it then because your right, even guys in the 90s miss tons of free throws and yes lots of bad misses. Something obviously got bugged in the patch before this one.

Played three more games. I had much better team in all 3. Got destroyed by the Wizards as Minnesota. This is in current era my league. Twolves way better. Played as Nets vs Magic for a half and was down 12 in Brooklyn. Played as Celtics vs Hornets who are terrible in Boston. Lost by 3 as Marcus Smart left his man wide open in the corner for the game winner. It’s just flipped totally back the other way. I just don’t get it.

This game seems like it changed and I’ve had mine offline so not to get updates. 83 Lakers and cruising most of season. Near the end of season now and the Sonics beat me by 30 scoring 144 points and shooting 62%. Two games in a row now CPU handled me.

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better

Yeah I'm currently playing the Kings and they are currently shooting 63% from the field halfway through the third quarter, mostly from jump shots. The previous game the Jazz beat me while shooting 35% for the game, as they just spammed offensive rebounds.

You can see why people have so many issues developing a slider set. Since that big update before Christmas it's just become the most bi-polar game ever.

Also feels like we're back to 2k22 defense where the CPU can warp through screens, close out everything and can stick to your hip on drives like velcro.

For me with the latest patch it’s definitely not as hard as it was before the previous patch that messed everything up, but it seems to be in a good place and much better than after that previous patch when cpu sucked. I had to bring some cpu sliders down since they were so boosted from when they were playing crappy. Now it SEEMS to be almost just right for me. I’m still tweaking sliders a little bit each game as sometimes all of a sudden me or the cpu can’t miss or make anything. I just don’t want them to mess with it anymore. The slider tweaking is exhausting. Leave it where it is.

I’m struggling with sliders now as I really don’t believe they work the way they should. What I do is take HOF, increase CPU scoring efficiency significantly and increase its Offensive Awareness to 100 and Consistency to 80. Two weeks ago having CPU shooting all at 70 provided me with a decent challenge, now I can bump it up to 75 and still win very easily.

However, when I revert back to standard HOF with no adjustments, it seems they have started playing far better basketball than they did before out of the box.

It is only CPU offense that I am struggling with. Defense is fine, I am finding it hard enough to score without getting ridiculous.

I had it at a sweet spot but did some adjusting to shot timing impact. What I’ve found is cpu shoots MUCH better when their timing impact slider is at 0. I raised timing impact to 10 for both sides (was at zero before) because after the patch too many shots were going in for me. But what I realized after putting it even at 10 is the way I missed shots became more dynamic. I noticed shots clanking off the rim in animations I didn’t get when timing impact was at 0. I also saw LeBron shoot an airball lol. Never saw an airball with 0 timing impact. So I now have it at 10 for both sides. Shooting seems just right for me, a slider adjustment here or there if necessary. But cpu started bricking a lot even with it at just 10. So I rose their shooting sliders to 60-64 (HoF base) to try and find their sweet spot. The standard HoF 56 seemed too low, they kept missing. I rose it to 64 and it seemed fine but then one game they got too good lol. So now it’s at 60-61. Seems pretty decent. If it proves to be O/P I’ll lower it back to 56.

Tired of the slider stuff. I just wanna find the right formula and play.

To note I have all cpu defense sliders at 98.

Thanks. I have tried that and it’s still mixed for me, I am having periods of the game where CPU just cannot score. I think I am going to just go back to HOF out of the box and stop messing with sliders, I will pick an average team like Thunder or Kings and have a go a MyNBA. If I end up winning all games by 20 then be it but spending hours upon hours adjusting sliders seems like such a waste of time and ultimately I’d be trying to make the game as hard as possible without any feeling of achievement when I win (as I will perceive it just as me not adjusting sliders to a sufficient level to pose a challenge). If I play HOF I basically play the highest possible difficulty the creators of the game have included.

I seem to sometimes have a challenge at HOF too, just lost to Pacers with Thunder after abysmal first half. I am blowing out Kings in my second game though.

Played a couple games last night. Shooting was terrible, especially from 3. Free throws magically seemed better though.

I’ve just decided to play All-Star straight up. Playing 29 game season, 8 minute quarters. I’m done messing with sliders. In an update if the shooting goes back the other way then it goes back.

At least both teams shooting sucks
