Yep, since Friday the AI can't shoot. Almost all their attempts are missing strong off the rim. I can still hear the echoes of the rim clangs

So they made cpu too good then made them too bad, all during the latest patch.

Why change it at all? And why overcorrect if they think they buffed it too much? It was PERFECT the way it was before the patch.

It’s still good but clearly they screwed with how potent our sliders are so we need to adjust to get it back to as good as it was.

This is why I sually wait to buy until all patches are out. Because they usually mess with sliders we have put in. But the ability to play with 80s and 90s teams when I first started watching I had to.

I suspect the second change was not intentional.

I had my shooting & CPU shooting honed in nicely before the updates. (I use meter-less, timed shooting.) After the update it was a frustrating struggle to hit 40% FG. Took me the last 3 days to get it where I wanted (between 43 - 48 shooting %) ... and that required lowering my 'shot coverage impact' from 50 down to 40 ...
And now I am experiencing what others are experiencing: CPU can't shoot, and I'm blowing them out by 30 every game. What are we doing here, 2k?[emoji1745]

🤦🏾*♂️ CPU offense is no longer dangerous. Pick and roll is stale and wide open shots are consistently bricked. Before this weekend drop coverage would get punished by pull-ups and floaters, now they dribble right into the defense or force a pass to the roll man every time.

Just adding onto the pile here. The '87 Pacers are currently shooting 10-of-33 at half and that's only because they lucked into two random & open 3-pointers in the last minute or two. They were 8-of-31 prior (25.8 percent) and I'm currently up 55-28. I've led by as many as 31.

The bummer is that I like my rate of offensive success. It could probably be a little tougher but I want my team to be pushing into the 100's in the 1980's. It's just, pre-patch, the CPU seemed to be pushing the hundreds, too. Now they'll be lucky to hit 50.

The extra bit of frustration is that it seems the patch took away one of my favorite ways to succeed offensively, which was turning a corner through contact. Now I lose any hip-rides to the defender, even if they're behind me to start. Moreover, standard moves out of the triple-threat are back to feeling super weak again (jab-and-drives, rock-and-go's, anything that doesn't involve the dribble stick). Yet at the same time, it feels easier to exploit the game for offensive game elsewhere.

Edit: Ended up winning 106-63, with Indiana shooting 26-of-71.

Yea that’s the frustrating part. User Offense/shooting is pretty good, it’s just the CPU can’t shoot.

Yeah this is why I always say once I have a 2K and put endless time in rosters and tweaking it, I’m gonna keep it and not buy the next 2K’s. It’s too stressful dealing with all their changes or potential new bugs and re-tweaking not to mention all the time in correcting/creating rosters. My favorite 2K time is when they stop patching it.

I was gonna do that with 2K22 but they got me with the Jordan upgrades and eras this time.

Yep, now I'm probably done with 2k23. Sure maybe its dramatic and a overreaction but last time I tried to play and the AI shot 25% it killed all enjoyment I got from playing the game.

Why spend all your time trying to turn something into an enjoyable experience when there are plenty of games in my steam backlog that can do that out of the box?

Its not that I'm going to stop playing as a form of protest or anything. I just know whats going to happen. I won't play it for a few days, few days turns into a week, a week turns into a month, etc

If they release a hotfix in the next few days maybe that won't happen. But I'm not going to spend time developing a sliderset a second time.

I’m still loving the game and to me the issue is manageable but my real annoyance is getting a game right then going back to the drawing board. This game was designed for me with the content but I really hope 2K24 doesn’t have something that draws me in and I can just keep 2K23 and play it once I get it right again. I just want the game to be frozen so we know what we’ve got.

Ok so I moved sliders for cpu shooting up very slightly and they seem to be really good again. Seems to be close to pre patch to me. With their shooting sliders where it used to be pre patch they’re a bit hit or miss so a shooting nerf must have still maintained happening, but it seems whenever I mess with sliders it seems to “reset” the cpu memory so they either start to cook or fumble immediately.

Outside of this current situation, I never liked that they changed the CPU to shot timing from RP%

CPU naturally needs a bit more “umph” that it gives them…

I turn cpu shot timing to 0 and have their close/mid/3 shooting sliders at 54/55 (depending on if home or away) (inside and layup I keep at 50 for both sides) and defensive jump shot strength sliders at 10 and they’re shooting fairly decently. It’s a decent balance where they can get super cold or super hot. But I am starting to see those classic 2K “Kyrie goes 3/22 from 3” issues. Problem is that even in games like that it’ll be a tight game which makes me less inclined to boost cpu shooting sliders because I like to max cpu defense sliders so scoring for me isn’t that easy as well.

Before the hot fix cpu seemed more aware to not shoot 22 threes as kyrie if he’s only making 3 and I felt stars would dominate more. It’s like they lost that awareness. But also when stars did dominate I was also able to be competitive.

I think the thing in play now is that they made defense better. Which is a good thing. But it’s making us all shoot worse. So it’s a give and take. Now I worry that they’re nerf defense and make us all scramble to sliders again.

I have it at a decent place now I think. It’s feeling closer to how it felt pre patch. If they hot fix the cpu offense to play just a bit smarter it’ll be just right.
