A park player wouldn’t notice improvement on the offensive and defensive a.I even if the changes made were massive. However, that would be a generational leap for to us. So I’m keeping my eyes open for this feature. Could be fantastic.

I also wonder what modes they're playing. If they aren't using real NBA teams and players then ProPlay might not stand out as much.

Tangential to this thread, but isn't ProPlay just a video-based animation-capturing system? I wouldn't really expect that to impact the feel of the game's mechanics.

My opinion would be that it depends on how well the animations are blended together and if they increase or decrease response time.

I'm interested in learning how ProPlay fits with their existing animation system. Is it completely replacing it? Is it essentially adding more animations into the data base? Are they blending to two together so that certain animations are handled by ProPlay and other animations use the current system?

Either way I wouldn't be surprised if ProPlay could make the game feel faster or slower OR more or less responsive, depending on how it works. And at the very least it should make the game look different in motion even if it still feels like 2K. If it's something that's subtle and barely noticeable then that will be a let down.

From the way it was worded, ProPlay sounds A LOT like Hypermotion V for EA FC 24. Basically using real world footage to add a higher number of animations at an increased frequency. So it's still the same game, but now maybe you can get signature running styles and/or unique jumpshots/moves that are hard to mimic with mocap.

If that is the case, and granted this is a lot of assuming, I can see how the content creators would say it's pretty much the same. They're not looking for the same detailed things we are since most of their time is spent in The City making builds to break the game.

Bruh let me tell you how I've been combing through those Chinese mod sites looking at how insane some of them are are. Like you said some get it right and some don't, but I'm really ready to jump back into PC gaming just for the various game mods.

Yes. Everything is modded in that pic including a really nice reshade.

2k needs to reach out to the modders. Random modders shouldn't be able to make a better looking game in their free time than the actually developers of the game.

It's all about allocating resources to developing the game. I think the in-house artists 2K have can do the same, but are they allowed to do that work full force or are they told to move on to others things? Companies can only allocate limited time to certain things, you can't have an artist spending hours on a single face especially if most of the consumers aren't even going to notice the difference. Modders can do what they do because there are no restrictions.

I know that is the answer people won't want to hear.

                    Both things can be true.

                    - Modders always have the advantage, purely because 2K's finished version that appears in the game is the starting canvas for a modder. Modders have the advantage of getting to start wherever 2K left off.

                    - 2K's default models are still worse than they should be. Of course 2K allocates resources in the way that they feel is most profitable, so this state of affairs just reaffirms that they see their core product as the MyPlayer-related modes. It seems that the art team is allotted just enough time to get new players (or necessary players, like for Jordan Challenge / Mamba Moments) into the game and to make updates to cover athletes, then it's on to design work for Park swag and hoverboards and jet-packs and stuff.

Just take the modders work and put it in the game. It has to be on a 2k server somewhere. Its 2K's game and IP, I would imagine they can use whatever content they want once you agree to those terms when you launch the game.
