Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
Personally prefer the true to life look when it comes to floors, I don’t think it should look like players are playing on porcelain….It’s definitely a cool graphical display but if we’re talking replicating what we see on TV or real life that’s my personal POV on it.

Forgetting that a lot of things (cameras, lenses, TV quality, etc.) affect how the eye perceives color (or shade/hue).

I'm not judging until I see this in 4k 120 on my PC.Youtube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Y...YHoeFjXQJ2Ps4g

Some people are never happy either way, 24th. Back then people were complaining that it was 'too reflective,' 2K goes too far the other way making it look 'too dull,' and now they've hit a happy medium but some are still complaining.

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
You're right, and even after taking that screenshot, I simply looked to my left and right in my living room and took note of the fact that the coloring I see with my own eyes doesn't look like 2K16, but on a gut level to me that 2K16 palette just looks better and (confusingly) more realistic.
Maybe it's that the overall graphics need to be better for the new-gen lighting to feel 'real' instead of just 'dull' / 'washed out'. Maybe for 2K35 when the game is visually indistinguishable from real life, the 2K16 lighting will feel goofily vibrant, but for where the game is right now, the newer lightings (even from what I've seen of 2K23) just feel off instead of realistic.
I think the vastly more pressing issue isn’t the color or even the reflections, it’s how CRISP those courts look on older 2Ks (and even the new ones, but only on PC). For whatever reason, the courts on console look like one large, low-detail texture instead of a series of high resolution boards coming together to form a court.
With the console courts, it looks like they cheaply slapped a yellowish-beige rectangle down, then a separate layer for each of the logos and brands. It doesn’t look like a basketball court.Comment

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
do devs from 2k still post here?
why are the crowds dark?!?
Last one I have is 2k22 and the visuals on there look better than most of the screens and vids I've seen of 2k25"This game, and series, has nothing but contempt for you (now)"Comment

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
Are any of you planning on getting the game on the 4th? If so, I would appreciate if some of you could post your impressions reflecting the literal title of this thread.
I'd rather read it here because 1) sometimes the Impressions thread gets so many questions on release day that some questions can get lost and never answered, and 2) since this thread has already been established, I think everyone here knows what we're talking about.
I appreciate the work done on mods (props to vetmin) and the suggestions given here, but I'm not going to purchase a PC for the game.
Thanks everyone.Comment

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
1) You can’t really judge the graphics based on screen grabs from videos because you don’t know how the video was uploaded onto YouTube.
2) As someone showed before, in real life the court doesn’t have all of those crazy reflections. That’s just done in gaming to show off some of the lighting capabilities. In real life is a lot more dull than that.
3) 2k24 was definitely a downgrade from 2k23, but on a nice 4K TV it still looked pretty solid. I’d expect 2k25 to look much improved just based on the shadows in the screenshots posted. But again, will need to get my hands on it before I can definitively say that.Comment

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
I'll be impartial, BUT I'm getting the game on PC so I'm not sure how applicable my opinion will be to the console crowd. Even old gen PC 2K24 with 0 mods looked noticeably better than new gen on console.Comment

These new gen consoles honestly have been the most underwhelming of any console jump that I can remember. Not seeing the revolutionary graphics I thought I would.Comment

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25
This comparison is idiotic. 2k16 pic you posted is ultra sharp, the 2k23 ones are a bit blurry and the 2k25 ones are ultra blurry, removing all the details.
So of course if you compare sharp pics of the past with ultra blurry pics of today, you'll prefer the sharp pics...
When you play it, the graphics are actually ultra sharp (like the 2k16 one but nothing like the others). Use good quality images in every comparison and you'll see how superior the 2k25 pic is, especially compared to 2k16.
If you mean video game graphics haven't been progressing significantly for a few years though, it's true, I agree with that. It's caused by diminishing returns.Last edited by krakdol; 08-29-2024, 05:17 AM.Comment
