    Oof.

This runs terribly on the ROG Ally. Which is pretty weird considering there is a Steam Deck option in settings and really the Ally is just a significantly more powerful system than the Steam Deck.

Lowest settings and 720p and it stutters everywhere in game.

Did they remove the shot feedback setting? I want to turn off the meter but can't seem to find shot feedback anymore

Yea this dribble system is pretty damn smooth. I'm just starting to learn and the possibilities are nasty lol

Ignore the graphical quality. Saved the recording with the NVIDIA overlay, edited with Clipchamp, and idk which is to blame but it makes the game look like crap.

Soundtrack as also exceptionally good this year imo. Been a long while since I enjoyed a 2K soundtrack

It's good, once you increase the team's "Help Defense" coaching slider. It seems like 75+ is where you'll want to set it, otherwise the help defense is lazy.

Not seeing much of a "help the helper" rotation/scramble system though. In most situations so far, the help comes from the corner defender, then the defender at the elbow slides down to cover between the corner and elbow. He does a good job of contesting both shooters, but there isn't a third defender involved to, in this example, cover the elbow shooter after the defender slides down toward the corner. He seems to be on his own.

Default sliders otherwise, and only a few quarters of gameplay (I've been playing a full 12 minute quarter, then switching teams to try out someone else while I learn the dribbling). The on-ball defense plays well but can get shook by the new dribbles. Help defense is well timed and puts up a good contest. Movement on both sides of the ball is nearly perfect if you raise Game Speed a little.

Overall early impression: Extremely satisfied. The AI is actually fun to play against, and very punishing on the fast break.

OK, you convinced me to get it early. Day off work and it drops at 1pm in the UK in 4 and half hours on xbox. Can't wait!

Wow very positive review. Just some questions. Are you seeing hedging in the pnr from the cpu? What about double teams are they more effective and/or logical than last year? Also not sure if you’d know but are there any additional player tendencies? I’m hoping there’s a new one for the go to shots!

                      Defensive switch is effective too?
In real NBA matches there are a lot of these set in P&R situation

Plenty of hedging, more-so when the hedge defender is an athletic wing instead of a slow big-man (they tend to drop). Haven't seen any double teams yet, but I'm basically just spamming Iso and PnR to test out the dribbling, and I'm not playing out full games. Haven't had any of my players get a hot hand yet that required a double team, nor have I attacked mismatches in the post to see how the AI handles that.

Similar to my answer above, I haven't played well enough or long enough in-game to get a hot hand to facilitate constant switches or doubles, so I haven't seen either yet. The AI is also pretty good at fighting through screens (or I'm just **** with the new dribbling and can't effectively speed boost into the screen to force a switch or hard hedge). When the AI runs the PnR, you can manually force a switch and your AI teammate recognizes almost immediately and switches to cover the screen player instead of ignoring him and triggering a double team, which is nice.

Is there still that awkward dribble animation when you try and push for a fast break?

The one where you push the ball out in front and put your head down, but the game basically rubber-bands you in place so you don't actually get any burst of speed? No, I haven't had that trigger once yet. Even tried double tapping R2, tapping R2, double tap and hold R2, nothing I've tried triggers it. If it is in the game, I'm not sure what the input is for it anymore.

I’m more meaning the one where it slows down your player as if they’re stuck in mud. The player is usually slightly hunched over.

Man, I could not be more impressed with the CPU tendencies, nor the look and feel of the game. This is a generational improvement in gameplay. No sliding on defense, contextual animations are everywhere so that everything you do with a defender nearby looks and feels like the game actually took that other player into account. Just insane improvement from 2K24.

Nope, I haven't had any kind of artificial slow-downs like that. Neither has the CPU. Easily the best fast break from the CPU I've ever seen in a 2K game, and once you get a feel for the dribble mechanics then your own fast break will be equally as fluid and dangerous.
