    Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

Well I just got DEMOLISHED by the Bobcats, that's right, the Bobcats. I just realised they picked up Nash out of free agency, so their lineup is as follows.

    PG: Nash/Augustin
    SG: Raja Bell
    SF: Morrison/Diaw
    PF: Okafor
    C : Mohammed

Heck of a lineup for them I thought. Offensive powerhouse, then again, my defense is terrible.

    Update:
Well finally a signature win, beating San Antonio 100-95, putting me at 4-4, after simming a couple games, 5-5. Can't really get a streak going. Also, my chemistry is down to 1%. *Sigh*

      Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

After a heartbreaking one point less to the T-Wolves, in which I had a twenty point lead, I decided to sim the rest of the season, inculding the playoffs. The Jazz would finish the season at 54-28, first in the west, but lose to the Spurs in the first round of the playoffs, 4-3. The Hawks would win the NBA Championship, beating the Lakers in seven games. Kosta Koufos made the second team All-Rookie team. Pretty cool.

Now, the fun stuff. The off season. Since I had signed Jerry Sloan to a contract extension earlier in the year, he didn't retire. Good stuff. Gotta get him a ring. Or a COY. Hopefully both. As expected, Carlos Boozer declined his option. I picked up the options on Ronnie Brewer, Morris Almond, Dee Brown, and Kyrylo Fesneko. And declined the options on Adam Morrison and Acie Law.

Boozer and Paul Millsap decided to test free agency. I released Acie Law, Adam Morrison, Ronnie Price, and Mickael Gelabale.

Thanks to an early season trade with the Grizzlies, I have their first round pick in the draft. Had the best shot at getting the first pick in the draft, but ended up with the fourth. Just my luck. I had edited a few of the prospects so had a few real players in the draft. Hasheem Tabeet went to the Thunder with the first pick, Demar Derozan to the Knicks with the second, and Blake Griffin to the Bulls with the third pick. I had a tough choice next, since I had wanted Blake Griffin. My choices were Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Ricky Rubio, or Stephen Curry. No need to pick Lawson or Rubio since I already have D-Will. Curry would get lost behind Brewer and Almond. I wasn't going to blow the fouth pick on Hansbrough, so I drafted a fake guy, Harold Jamison. 6'10" 270 lbs PF out of George Washington. Rubio went to the Wizards, Curry to the 76ers, Hansbrough to the Bucks, and Lawson went somewhere.

I signed Jamsion to the rookie contract, released my second round pick, and headed into free agency. Boozer was the best player there but I had no interest in him. He went to the T-Wolves. Dumb move on their part. I resigned Paul Millsap to a three year deal worth $18.87 million with a player option for a fourth year. Then I used my MLE to sign Kareen Rush to a two year deal worth $4.60 million. The only big moves during the off-season was Steve Nash to the Heat and Jason Kidd going back to the Nets.

Training camp next, I sent Ronnie Brewer to perimeter shooting camp in hopes that he'll start to hit a three, something I really needed last year. Kosta Koufos got sent to big man defense camp, trying to make him into a shot blocker.

I simmed the preseason and went 5-3.

The depth chart at start of year:
PG: Deron Williams (99) Dee Brown (73)
SG: Ronnie Brewer (85) Morris Almond (79) Kareen Rush (73)
SF: Andrei Kirilenko (85) CJ Miles (77)
PF: Paul Millsap (81) Harold Jamison (82)
C: Kosta Koufos (83) Darko Milicic (76) Kyrylo Fesenko (65)

Team overall is 95, Def is 97, off is 70

Played most of the first game of the year, against Denver, and was getting beat most of the game before I stopped playing it and simmed it. Lost by 3, 96-93. This team is really missing the inside scoring presence that Boozer had last year. I'm gonna try and find a trade for a PF that can score. I'm thinking maybe Brewer/Millsap for Amare? Thoughts, anybody?

        Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

I am playing with my Hawks using real life rosters, no trades made for the first season, with computer trades turned off too for the first season. If any trade is made in real life then I force it through by doing a 3 team trade and using 2nd rd picks to be involved.

I am at the same point as the Hawks are in real life (not be choice, just been busy). I am currently 21-9 which is one game better than thier record. I just got drilled by Indiana by 20+ in a game that I was never in, even had my wife making fun of me bc of getting beat so bad. Horford had a huge game 23 pts 19 rebs but for nothing.

My goals are to win the championship, have 2 all stars- Joe and either Smith or Horford, and have Horford lead the league in rebounds, currently 4th.

I cant do crap with Bibby, He might go 5 games without hitting a jumper then get hot and drop 20 the next time

          Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

Just had one of my craziest / most fun games of 2k9 in my Cavs association. I was playing the Celtics and Lebron dropped 42 in regulation before fouling out with 2 minutes left. I was down 3 with 5 seconds to go and hit Boobie Gibson (5-12 3-pointers, 21 pts) coming off a screen for the game-tying three! We go into Overtime and go back and forth and with 2 seconds left the cavs are down 2. They inbound it to Boobie once again he fades up at the top of the key to tie it yet again. Boobie started out the 2nd OT by hitting two 3's but the Celtics, led by Paul Pierce's 40 pts 8 assists 7 rebounds, beat me 146-137.

So far I'm 6-3....here are some stats

          Player....ppg / rpg/ apg

          Mo Williams 17.2 / 4.2 / 5.9
          Vince Carter 22.4 / 3.9 / 3.6
          Lebron James 32.0 / 7.1 / 6.8
          Ben Wallace 2.5 / 8.8 / 2.4
          Z Ilgauskas 12.6 / 12.8 / 2.0

          Bench

          Sasha Pavlovic 10.5 / 3.8 / 0.5
          Boobie Gibson 7.8 / 1.3 / 1.8
          Delonte West 5.6 ppg
          Varajeo 3.7 ppg
          Hickson 3.4 ppg

            Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

            So I'm currently 8-4

            Rockets Lost 121-97
            Lebron 45 pts 5 rebounds
            T-Mac 31 pts 4 boards 7 assists

            Lakers Won 105-92
            Lebron 32 pts 11 rebounds 4 assists
            Kobe 28 pts 5 assists 4 rebounds

            Jazz Won 106-83
            Vince Carter 37 pts
Mo Williams 23 points 10 assists

So I finally soundly defeated a solid team from the beginning of the game to the end and I played great defense throughout which has been lacking in my losses. Delonte West has been playing absolutely terrible for me and is beginning to complain about his playing time, as I've been giving Sasha more time because he has been scoring. So I was thinking of pulling off this deal....

Cavs Get : SG Eric Gordon (78)
            C Brian Skinner (71)

Clippers Get : SG Delonte West (79)

The Clippers are still left with 2 centers in Chris Caman and DeAndre Jordan...

            What do you guys think?

11-11 and number 8 seed right now with the Grizzlies I have kept my roster almost the same I only traded Hakim Warrick for Jason Maxiell and that will likely be my only trade even though I have unhappy players. I have over enough to offer a good free agent a max contract so hopefully I can get a good sf or pf since I lost my 1st rd pick in the Maxiell trade.

                        Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

So I'm currently 12-7 at the All Star Break with my Cavs in my 29? game season. We're sitting at the 2nd spot in the East 3 games behind Orlando We started off mediocre then got very hot and lost the final 3 games before the break to the T'Wolves, Nuggets, and the Bobcats . Here's a breakdown of my players so far...

Mo Williams - Averaging about 14 ppg 5 assists...He started off the season cold as ice and I couldn't make a shot to save my life but he has come on strong in the last handful of games and is playing like the Mo Williams I expected.
Vince Carter - 24 ppg, Vince Carter has been phenomenal for me this year. He has 3 30 point games and had 43 one game. He will have his occasional ice-cold shooting night, but I can live with it.
                        Lebron - 28 ppg 7 assists 7 rebound....He's a freak, 'nuff said.
Ben Wallace - Has been dominant on D but I hate his lack of offense
Ilgauskas - 14ppg....Has been lighting it up lately and has been a force down low all year
Boobie Gibson - 9 ppg...Strokes it from long range for me...good for at least 2 3's a game
Eric Gordon - 10 ppg...This kid is gonna be a monster, he can drive and finish around the rim like a madman.
J.J. Hickson - Grabs some boards but has been disappointing
Varajeo - Grabs a good amount of boards and can score unlike Hickson

                        Bout to play the Sixers...

Posted this in the 'Official' Trade Thread, but it just got glazed over....

                          Decided to post here.

I've wrapped up my 1st reg. season in my Suns Association, and am the 5th seed in the playoffs playing Portland in the opening round.

My TOP priority on my off-season checklist is adding a 3pt shooting 3 er another perimeter shooter for Amare to kick out to when the double comes; because it comes often.

Matt Barnes has played nicely but leaves something to be desired from the perimeter, and will need to be resigned if I plan on keeping him. Grant Hill probably won't be re-signed so that will leave me w/ Barnes (if I sign him) and Alando Tucker.

I'm looking to draft a 3, but he will need time to develop.

Signing a 3pt shooting 3 under the MLE would be another option. I've thought about maybe bringing in Quentin Richardson under the MLE if he is available.

A trade idea I've been exploring is trading for Mike Dunleavy...Ever since using him in the 3pt shooting contest and flat-out dominating w/ him I've been flirting w/ the idea of acquiring him because his jumper is so sliky smooth for me to execute.

Pieces I'd be willing to trade to Indy:
                          Jared Dudley
                          Alando Tucker
                          Goran Dragic
Matt Barnes (If I re-sign him)
Maybe my 1st rd Draft Pick
                          Maybe Leandro Barbosa

Trading Barbosa would leave me w/ a void at backup PG, but since Dunleavy is about an 80 overall I'd probably have to include Barbosa in any deal for him.

                          So maybe I could do:

Dunleavy and Jarrett Jack or Travis Diener

                          for

                          Barbosa, Dudley, and Alando Tucker

I think that Indy traded Jamaal Tinsley but if they didn't maybe I'd look at acquiring Dunleavy and Tinsley for Barbosa and grouping of other players from the list above.

                          .................................................. .....................................

To update you all on my playoffs matchup w/ Portland I lost gm 1 and 2 in Portland.

                          GM 1 L 109-118
                          GM 2 L 95-102

Grant Hill has been out since the last week of the season, and my bench production is suffering because of it.

Louis Amundson plays solid D, but when Amare is out I've got no post option. Barbosa and Barnes are too streaky, and Eddie Jones hasn't been playing all that well filling in for Hill off the bench.

The only solid performances I've gotten have been from J-Rich who has 33 and 28 in the two games played so far.

GM 3 is of course at home, and my goal is to run the table at home and take one on the road in Portland.

Wish me luck...This Portland team is hard. Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake are killing me from outside.

My association with the Cavaliers, currently at the All Star Break. Lebron led the league in ASG votes, and Big Z is the starting center as well. So two of our beloved Wine & Gold starters are teaming up to take over the All Star Game.

Lebron is currently averaging 38.8 ppg, 9.4 rpg, and 9.1 apg, along with 2.3 spg and 1.3 bpg.

Record is 30-11 I believe, with my last loss coming to the Suns.

Mo Williams was playing excellent for me until he went down with a hamstring injury. He's out for another 1-2 weeks. I lost 2 of 3 due to losing Mo, so he's an integral part of the team.

                                Thanks.

This Portland team is tough. I've played them 3 times and have yet to beat them.

The only time I played them in the reg. season I lost 124-122, and only cut it close at the end w/ 4 straight 3's by J-Rich; which I've been unable to duplicate in ANY game since.

My two losses in playoffs, 118-109 & 102-95, were games I was very much in and even leading by a small margin after the half and/or 3rd qtr. The 4th QTR has been a headache for me, and has been where I lost the game.

Amare has disappeared in the 4th qtr in both playoff matchups. In gm 1 and 2 Barbosa out played Nash, but I just couldn't see sitting out Nash in favor of Barbosa running the point...I think I might have to change that up because Steve Blake has given me problems when Nash has been guarding him.

I don't want to trade Barbosa, although he is streaky, he usually comes up big for me in desperate moments. I can't go through another season w/ a platoon of Barnes and Hill at SF though, and if I want to bring in a 'stud' SF then I'll probably have to include Barbosa in any deal of that nature.

Hill, who has been good for me, will most likely be gone. I'd like to keep Barnes as my 7th man in the 9-man rotation I want to use next season.

I've been developing Dragic's mid & 3pt'er, but when I've used him I haven't had much success I'd rather move him, Dudley, Tucker, and my #1 pick for a SF perimeter scorer.

I'm thinking Mike Dunleavy or Mike Miller...any ideas?

The idea for me is to build around J-Rich and Amare. I can't see trading eithier.
