      Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

Over the last 3 days Ive been finishing off my off season. I kinda monitred every team individually and speculated rating increases and decreases for each player to try and keep things fresh. Prior to the draft i also allocated teams their correct current and future draft picks.

Here are some of the off-season occurences

      DRAFT
      Blake Griffin-WAS
      Harden-SAC
      Thabeet-MIN
Jennings-MIN (dropped to late 1st round)
      Jordan Hill-CHI
      DeRozan-CHA
      Budinger-PHX
      Monroe-NYK
      Summers+Hansbrough-OKC

      FREE AGENTS
      Boozer-DET
Marion(sign and trade from mia for O'Neal)-TOR
      Rasheed-NJN
      Iverson-CHA(re-Uniting Larry Brown)
      Felton-DAL
      Childress-SAS
      Gordon-MEM
      Bass-MEM

      MY TEAM

      Aquisitions:
      Sonny Weems(FA)
      A. Roberson(Declined 750k extension, signed for min in FA)
      Greg Monroe(Draft)
      David Lee(resigned 28mil/3yrs)

      Sign & Trade:
      N.Robinson
      W.Chandler
      '10 second round(bobcats)
      '10 second round(knicks)
      '11 first round(knicks)
      FOR
      J.Dudley
      S.Nash

Phoenix missed the playoffs this season, so I signed that to a long term contract with team option and added wilson chandler who has budinger potential, as well as three top 40 picks for the soon expiring nash who only has one season left on contract. Allows phoenix to build towards the future, makes knicks better right away & can entice FA's in 2010.

      Losses:
      Marbury(expired, signed with celts)
      M.Rose(expired)
      J.James(Boughtout)

      09-10 new york knicks
      Nash/Duhon/Roberson
      Richardson--or--Weems
      Dudley/Gallinari
      Harrington/Thomas/Jeffries
      Lee--or--Monroe

Its hard to managed minutes as technically I have 8 forwards and no true centre, also at times there will be two PG's on the foor at the same time.

I'll be playing one game each week and hopefully make the playoffs where anything can happen. Hopefully I wont become discontented seeing other teams rosters changed dramatically.

      09-10 begins...........now

        What's good OS ?
I just started an OKC Thunder Franchise and within two weeks I'm wondering why Durant's Rating dropped by -1. He ain't injured, his morale is to the roof, he ain't tired and yeah don't know what's going on. Anyone wanna tell me what's up ?
Always when I start a Franchise, my players overall rating drop regardless of all the things I listed and even if they're on a winning team.

Will need to be on my best to beat Dallas.
The Portland Trail Blazers are the 2009 NBA CHAMPIONS!!!!

I swept Dallas in 4 easy victories, which was aided by the fact Howard was injured for over 295 days before the payoffs started.

I took the Lakers in 4 as well. They were closer games, but didn't put up the fight I thought they would.

I got the Hornets in 5. After blowing them in in the opening 2 games, I upped the difficulty and had to go to OT to win game 3, lost in game 4, and won a nailbiter in game 5.

I then proceeded to sweep Boston in the Finals with each win being in single digits.

Martell Webster just was an animal and caught fire from 3 in the playoffs, but it was Greg Oden who won the Finals MVP.
          His stats were:
          19.2 PPG, 7 RPG, 2 APG, 1.2 SPG, 2.7 BPG, and a .777 FG%

The #1 seeds got all they could handle in the opening round. Houston was down 3-1 to the Clippers before finishing them off in 7. The Pistons had the biggest choke job in sports history. Up 3-0 to the Raptors, they proceeded to get swept the rest of the way. Not much better were the 2 seeded Magic losing to the 7 seeded Hawks, who actually went onto the Conference Finals and forcing Boston to 7 games.

Time for the off season, can't wait to see my new additions!

            Coaches Retiring
            Mike Dunleavy
            Jerry Sloan
            George Karl
            Rick Adelman

            Player/Team Options
Aldridge, Roy, Rodriguez, and Oden were all accepted
            Antoine Walker was decline

            Some notable players
            Kobe Bryant accepted his option
            Phoenix declined Nash's option
            Boozer opted out
            Boston accepted Rondo's option
            Hedo accepted his player option
Not shocking, Memphis picked up Gay's option
Okur picked up is own option
            Toronto declined Bargani's option
Charlotte parted ways with Adam Morrison by declining his option

            Free Agency

            Re-Sign Current Players
Ike Diagu and Raef LaFrentz won't re-sign with the Blazers
I am letting Damon Stoudamire and Antoine Walker go
I passed on Webster because he wanted 7.25 mill a season.
I could still pick him up later on, but I wanted to see how the other free agents turned out and the draft as well.

Notable Players Not Re-Signing With Their Teams
            Devin Harris
            Carlos Boozer
            Shawn Marion
            Steve Nash

Before the Draft Lottery I made a deal.
I sent Sergio Rodriguez, Portland's 09 1st (29), OKC 2nd (31) to Philly for their first round pick, which has a very small shot at winning the lottery (.8%). Philly only had 1 pg on their roster and I wanted to move up in the draft.

I didn't win the lotto and stayed in the 11th slot.
OKC lost out big time and dropped the 3rd, NY stayed at 2, and Memphis jumped to #1.

After workouts, I dubbed Thabeet as my target. The mocks have him going 7 to the Wolves and I am at 11 so I made a trade with them.
            I gave up #11 and my 2010 1st for #7 and their 2010 2nd.

                      Yep, he is correct.
Web was signed to an extension after 2k was released and for some reason Harris is listed as only having 1 yr left on his deal, so he was free game.
I did sign and trade Boozer for Caron.

                        Thanks!
I simmed the preseason and only lost twice. Travis seems to flourish as a power forward. I really hope I can keep Thabeet happy for 1-2 years as he was drafted as a future investment behind Oden, but Joel is currently the primary backup for Greg.

It was a heated battle trying to get Boozer. I wasn't sure he would choose PDX but got lucky.
I also made sure to change Twan's primary position to SF so he and Boozer would both start.

                          Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

I have been very indecisive over my offseason moves to say the least!
I played the opener at LA and it didn't go well. I had no go to 3 pt shooter and couldn't get it going with Rudy from deep to replace Martell. I decided I needed to get Webster back, because his release is so fluid and easy to master.

I ended up dealing Jarrett Jack and 2 2nds to Milwaukee (who signed Webster) for Martell.
Not only do the Bucks get a mentor for Ricky Rubio, but they shed 2 years off of Martell's salary and since I had cap room I took on the extra 2+ million of salary as well.

I then re-thought the acquisition of Caron Butler. Although I really wanted him, there just weren't enough basketballs or enough time in the game to go around. I have to feed Bayless, Roy, Aldridge, and Oden and those are just the starters. Plus, Washington probably will not give up on him just yet, they still have hopes for the big 3 returning.

So I re-did the trade and made it a 3 way (because I sent Songalia to Memphis).
So now I have Boozer who I signed, which was a mistake ( I was trying to make a splash via free agency then trade them for a stud, but I don't need a stud I need role players).
Now I am stuck with Boozer and find that Miami has cap space to take him on. I really needed a vet backup PG and saw Nash had signed with Detroit (WTF?) with Stuckey and Patrick Mills already there and they re-signed AI.

I had to force this trade but it went like this

                          Portland In-Nash Out-Boozer
                          Detroit In-Haslem,1st,Damien James(R from Texas)
                          Miami In-Boozer Out-James,1st,Haslem

yes, I know Detroit gets robbed, but in real life Nash would not go to a log jam situation and if I could go back in time I would have just signed Nash instead of Boozer, but oh well. At least I found a realistic home for Boozer. Also of Note, I saved Detroit from a horrid contract they gave Nash 2 years plus a player option at nearly 13 mill/yr..YIKES

I came back the next night to beat the Rockets and I really love the team right now. I also won 4 straight simmed.
My only concern is keeping Nash happy, which right now is not going well. He is my 6th man (although his role is still starter, his morale would worsen if I changed it). Although Nash and Bayless play the same amount of minutes, he is being a little baby, so I may have to deal him too.

                          Current Depth Chart
                          PG- Bayless/Nash
                          SG- Roy/Fernandez
                          SF- Batum/Webster/Udoka
                          PF- Aldridge/Outlaw/Novak
                          C- Oden/Przybilla/Thabeet

Does anyone have any good trade suggestions if Nash turns on me? I need either a SF or a PG. I want pass-first pg or lock down D SF's. I can move Rudy to PG and Webster to SG so I can make room for a SF. Battier was just placed on the trading block but Houston is already so loaded at PG in my game.

                            Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

Well the Nash experiment did not last long. He ended up demanding a trade in 2 weeks time and my chemistry was waning.

Before I go any further, it should be known I am a stickler for realism, more so for my team, but I also like some change to make the game has some variety.

I saw Jermaine O'Neal has a 23 mill expiring deal and Nash would be a nice fit in Toronto, since he is Canadian as well.
I also saw the Thunder signed Devin Harris in the offseason and targeted Russell Westbrook.

                            The 3 team deal was
Portland In- Russell Westbrook, Earl Watson
Portland Out- Steve Novak, Steve Nash

                            OKC In-Jermaine O'Neal, 2010 first
OKC Out- Earl Watson, Russell Westbrook,Bobby Simmons

Toronto In- Steve Nash, Steve Novak, Bobby Simmons
                            Toronto Out- 2010 1st, Jermaine O'Neal

Who knows if I keep Westbrook? He is great, but I have Bayless. I wil probably wait till the real life deadline passes and see if Portland adds anyone and then go out and get them.
Its also hard to because I know the real Blazers will get someone b/c they need vet help, but my team won a title last year and has really progressed.

My team is in 1st in the NW and riding a 6 game win streak!

Currently 34-14, 3 games left before the All-Star break.

Ive just signed Sheed to a 1 year extension, he only wanted $5.6m, worth every dime. I plan to go after Boozer with my $18m of free cap space as i will be letting AI go.

Im now playing the game more often in the hope of getting the season and playoffs done before MLB 09 The Show is out...dont know if ill do it.
Now 41-16, 25 games to go to end the season, i should get there in about 3 weeks, then playoff time.

                                Re: ASSOCIATION PROGRESS

I'm halfway through my second season with the Kings. My roommate is playing as the T-Wolves. We're playing a 29 game season, 7:00 minute quarters on All-Star, default sliders. We're trying to keep our trades realistic, even if our playing style is far from hardcore sim.

                                My current roster:
                                PG: Mike Bibby
                                SG: Kevin Martin
                                SF: Ron Artest
                                PF: Jason Thompson
                                C: Spencer Hawes
                                6. John Salmons
                                7. Francisco Garcia
                                8. Donte Greene

I picked up Mike Bibby and Ron Artest in free agency. The team is a nice blend of the Kings' past, present and future. The team is damn good, rated 90 overall and I've been at the top of the power rankings for the past six weeks, sitting good at 14-1. My only loss was to the Lakers, but the beat me by like 30 points. The key to my offense is actually Jason Thompson, who has turned into a straight-up only-possible-in-video-games monster. I worked on his already above-average ball handling, speed and quickness all of last year so now he's about 20 points above the average starting PF in those categories, and he has a 99 standing dunk rating so he just blows by people and flushes it.

My team is good, but my roommate's team makes mine look like a girls' JV team. His roster right now is:

                                PG: Randy Foye
                                SG: Travis Outlaw
                                SF: Hakim Warrick
                                PF: Al Jefferson
                                C: Rasheed Wallace
                                6. Sebastian Telfair
                                7. Kevin Love

My roommate traded Mike Miller and a first round pick to the Blazers for Travis Outlaw, traded Ryan Gomes to the Grizzlies for Hakim Warrick, and picked up Rasheed in free agency. He's 17-0, and I believe his average point differential is like +26.5. Al Jefferson is going to be the runaway MVP candidate, he's averaging like 35/8/8 with 2 blocks and 2 steals. I'm not quite sure how I'm still holding to the top spot in the power rankings. My roommate is good at video games.
