Best sports game ever! I only use Pared sliders (very minor adjustments related to shot %) and play on all-star, very realistic games sometimes you forget it's a game, feels like watching nba, it's awesome.

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

Finally a few impressions real quick, before I head out to work for the night.

The wife picked up 2k10 after she saw me watching all of the highlight videos, of the things that just aren't "in" Live 10 this year. The pre-game rituals, showing different scenes each time the game starts up. Sometimes with my Cavs, you'll get the Lebron chalk toss... sometimes, the slap and salute... Photo's anyone? All of those things are just "extra" presentation that I was looking for. Those "WOW" putback dunks... Those "WOW" emphatic blocks... Those "WOW" teabag your defender dunks... I was missing those things. She watched as I scrolled through our members highlights. She finally couldn't stand it, and she picked it up for me.

And for that fellas, I'm grateful. For the past 2 days, I've been getting acclomated to the controls, playing defense, and using the shotstick and isomotion. I've had some terrible adjusting, after playing Live non-stop since I picked it up.

I played a few games first on default All-Star, and watched as the teams shot in the mid to upper 50% range. First thing after those few games, put in Pared's adjustments. Put the same for User and CPU. Instantly, the game become much more enjoyable to me.

Watching the Wizards struggle to find a stop to LBJ in Washington... a thing of beauty. Watching my Cavs run the perfect offensive set against the Bulls... a thing of beauty. Watching my Cavs go into Denver, and proceed to get ran out of the building, as I didn't adjust my defense and playstyle... a thing of beauty, albeit upsetting.

I have had some excellent games thus far in my short foray into 2k10. But I'm sure after the patch comes out, and in the weeks to come, I'll have some great moments, and epic battles.

The thing that I think really sets this game apart at the moment... are the superstars. If I have LBJ in the game, I instantly feel better, and notice that the other teams don't really have an answer for him. But once he goes out... my leads start to dwindle.

Watching Melo have a HUGE game, and build the Nugs a lead, and get him in foul trouble... then watch them squander it away... excellent.

Watching Kobe torch me for 46 pts in Cleveland, and feeling good about it, because Lebron had 52 and the win... a feeling of accomplishment.

This is in no way a perfect game. But it has made some serious strides since last year.

The movements are often "odd" while you're first learning the controls... and you still have some "odd" moments after you learn them as well... but this game mimics the NBA very well. After a few adjustments, and re-learning the game of 2k... this bball title excel's at a lot of things.

Looking forward to more time with 2k....

jeebs, since we know alley-oops will be addressed in the patch, we might have to table any suggestions until then.
Thanks Pared, I will def give that a shot tonight.

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

Had copped 2K10 & Live in the BX on 10/3, but (stupidly) let a friend borrow 2K10, just got it back last night. Popped it in... for some reason, maybe it's my copy, but my 2K10 is simply unplayable, except in My Player. Trying to play Quick Games or Assoc on any camera angle, whenever someone goes to shoot or esp drive into the lane for a shot, the frame rate just starts to drop emphatically. It's so ridiculous. I thought it was my disc, or maybe I had to install it, but nothing worked. It is simply unplayable for me except in My Player.

Which really sucks because, sans the framerate issues (which I understand are noted by the devs and will be hopefully addressed in the patch) this is potentially the best sports game ever, and definitely the best bball game ever. I love Live 10, me and my boys have been banging that for the past few weeks, but 2K10 is the definition of a complete (or at this point, an "attempted" to be complete) basketball gaming experience.

From My Player, to just all the little options we have, the arena music, the graphics and anims, this game has SERIOUS potential. I'm just hoping against all hope that they fix this framerate thing. Till then I have to just shelve it, completely unplayable at this point.

Look forward to a lot of sleepless nights by friend. The framerate issue should be fixed in the patch. If you're enjoying the game that much just from the little bit you were able to enjoy with no issues, just imagine how much you're going to love once all the quirks get ironed out. Have fun!

I am patiently waiting, simply put the 2K10 disc back in the sleeve and it's waiting on the shelf for the patch. If they fix these issues, man you are so right, because this game is special.
I hadn't had a chance to dig into it as my dude borrowed it right after I got it, and so I was just reading on OS, mainly about issues/bugs/problems people were having. Plus I really like Live a lot this year (IMO this is the FIRST year on next gen it is playable to me, kudos to Wang & his team over there) so I'll be good.

But man, 2K10 has potential to be the best sports game ever. I really believe that.

The more I play, the better this game gets.
This game really has alot of depth. The features are awesome. if the patch works the way its suppose to and I finaly incorporate the living rosters, man..

the NBA today feature is great. watching the scores etc.. wow!!!

the little recaps of previous games..kudos..

                  presentation is top notch.

love the way the stars take over in some game and other games they are just average.

I thought Live would give some comp, but nope!!!! Live I thought was solid, but has suddenly become average.

                    Holliday,

Go into camera settings and take off Key Zoom. This should help immensely.

So I'm about 25ish games deep into my association, and I actually figured out the seemingly random rotations on defense. I held the wizards to 42 percent from the field. And when I would give up open shots I knew it was my fault. And other times they would isolate at the high post and had shooters spread around so I just had to play straight defense.

It has me excited to get home from work and see can I keep it up

Just hate getting lost in the shuffle Pared... digging through tons of comments to see responses to what I post isn't fun at all... that's why I generally will create my own threads... but... ok.. whatever makes the forum critters happy.

This was the original post...... which is now #1181 of a long thread......

I can remember creating the Post Game tutorial for 2K8 and how much fun it was to play in an online league with that incredible structure. While those features are still there and they put in the whole "My Player" mode, it's simply not holding my attention. In my opinion, 2K9 is where 2K lost me but 2K10 is absolutely funny. I think the game is very "pretty" but seriously caters to the casual basketball gamer a bit too much for my taste. Defense is very suspect in the game and no matter how much I've tweeked the sliders, it doesn't correct some fundamental problems with the game.

Defenders seem to just "leave their assignment" and double for no reason in dumb situations. Even when I turn the defensive settings to "Never" for everyone and tune the double team slider down to 0 in coaching options, they still do it. That is frustrating.

I still find it way to easy to get to the goal even on Hall of Fame difficulty setting. I also find it annoying when the CPU shoots 60%-80% from the field. Adjusting the sliders helps with this but I don't want to have to do a research project just to make the CPU to act realistically. Another thing that I find disturbing is when the CPU attempts a majority of it's shots in the paint from back door cuts and simply trying to force it's way into the paint with iso moves. Even with the sliders tuned down for attacking the basket and taking close and inside shots it still does it way too frequently.

I'm not impressed with 2K10's gameplay at all. I have tried to search out a Developer to explain the defensive logic to me but to no avail. I have the competitor's game and there really is no comparison in gameplay even though 2K's presentation behaves more like something you would see on TV. I guess for the casual gamer, that is the most important thing so 2K has accomplished their goal. I said this a long time ago and this year's game confirms this for me.

I'm waiting for the patch to see if it makes a difference but for now it may be the first item I ever sell on Ebay.

how is this game so hit or miss for some people? Im simply not impressed one bit. how is it that only I and a few others seem to be struggling with with crappy teammate AI? are others simply not noticing or dont care to look at replays. aside from my player, i havent played a normal full length user vs. cpu game in over 10-12 days. i want to but i cant. ive hit a brick wall

You gotta be kidding me.. just because the game doesn't pass your taste test.. its catering to the casual gamer.. (maybe its just me but having a sim presentation.. and a gameplay thats working to reach that goal.. isnt casual gamer friendly..)

If you said something like the game lets u do 360 dunks in traffice.. shoot from half court at will and lets you do all sorts of arcadey crap..continuously.. you would have a point.. but you lost your way with that rediculous statement.

                              Wow, why so hostile?

It has nothing to do with my taste as to why the gameplay is suspect. It simply doesn't play realistically from my perspective. You don't have to agree with me, you have your own ideas and perspective. I just have never seen some of the behaviors exhibited on 2K10 on a real court and those behaviors determine so much of the experience. (the same could be said about the other game too I'm sure by many of you) From my perspective though, 2K simply misses the mark by a good margin.
