Is it me or does this game force you into a paranoia about backdoor cuts and kick outs? lol, it's like the entire game i'm worried that I will give up dunks from the PG or PF throwing laser passes underneath for dunks/lay-ups. Not even close to as bad with 2k9.

Other than that, i'm having a ton of fun playing the game. 2k did so well with the game i don't know how much better 2k11 could be except for fixing minor glitches and cheese moves.

Yea last night I was playing the game and watching split screen. Watching Carmelo going into the post in real life. And the game doing the same. Was pretty cool. Then Carmelo did the hopstep spin move....OMG...It look so real. Expect for the part where he changed his shot mid air. It was nice.

This man speaks the truth. The whole point of videogames is to have control of the character youre using, IN ANY GAME. The last 2 years 2k has completely taken away the control from the user and has the AI take over in too many situations and you have to fight the game to get where you want to go. Its completely unacceptable. If they gave the user back the control, even if they take out a bunch of animations, itd be the best sports game ever. Do the same thing for online too and itd be the funnest game ever for me anyway. I just cant get past the lack of control. For all of the good it just goes back to the control for me and I cant get past it.

I've never played another game where you have literally no control of where you want to go with your character, whether its a shooter game, sports game, ANYTHING. You shouldnt have to fight with the game to get where you want to go. For all the improvements 2k made they left the biggest part of any kind of gaming out.

                O NO ..
Its how you interprate control. They are providing realistic basketball related control.Meaning you can not do exactly what you want when you want to do it.The real game involves a constant struggle by all players to maintain control of their movements.2k understood & made a pretty darn good attempt to simulate this.More user control could mean that circumstance on the floor will not dictate propper player movement.

I understand what youre saying, that you cant always go where you want to go in real life because of footplanting, the other team screening you etc, but the game often makes you switch directions when youre pressing the other direction, or gets you caught in animations or makes it feel like youre caught in mud and cant move half of the time. That isnt real basketball. Watch the latest vids by that user. There shouldnt be a forcefield that makes your player move in a completely opposite direction or makes him get stuck when nothing is even happening.

If I want to go right with my defender to cut off the ballhandler and he makes a counter move to get by me then great, but the way 2k does it is you cant even move right because the control just isnt there, you end up getting turned around by the control or pushed in a way you dont want and its extremely frustrating. Basically theres no simple movements.

I have to agree with this to a certain extent. I want the control to be better and more consistent. Now, i still enjoy shooting floaters and hitting up and unders and such. But, when I'm dribbling up court and all of the sudden my player does a behind-the-back dribble out of nowhere its just puzzling.

The sliding by the defense is a terrible representation of footplanting or so called letting animations play out. Yes, I can wait for my player to finish his akward crab dribble or backwards dribble, but I didnt command him to do it in the first place.

Guys in basketball its about setting your opponent up. I know exactly what you guys talking about. They has to be a sense of the defender body there. I usually set my opponents up with different move. 2k9....I use to do the same few things over and over. Then set my opponent with some nasty crossover. I mean check my sig highlight. Part of it is anicapating your opponents movement. I couldn't imagine a game where I go where I wanted to go.

I will agree with some thing though on defense the players do slide. But most of the big slides I've seen is online. And I blame 2k for its lag.

They could incorparate more simple user controlled movement.CH 2K8 did this really well. The animations played out a bit more quickly. You regained control at a more predictiable pace. The result of balancing user control vs simulated player movement can be debated till the end of time. This is one of those things where , you like the direction 2k is going in & you understand why , or you dont.I belive we need more control , no doubt about it.I just dont think we need that much more. The NBA game allows for a stunning amount of creativity. Its been proven difficult to replicate. They have been kicking *** & taking names for a long time.I have been playing basketball for 16 years.I can honestly say I am shocked at how much they give us.From one year to the next. The final product is a fairly accurate representation.Post patch , who knows we could all be blown away.In 330 days or so, will 2k11 be better then 2k10..thats the idea.

I understand player momentum, and it's necessary in basketball games. If you want to move in a direction, you're limited to where you can actually take steps, and if you're running full speed, you have to allow for some extra stopping distance when you try to stop.

Unfortunately, i'm seeing other troubling things, at least to me. Sometimes, when I'm trying to stay in front of the ballhandler, and he does a dribble move to get by me, I instantly get an animation that puts me out of position. That's where I see a lack of control - I don't know, when i see scenarios play out like that, I just feel frustrated, like there was nothing I could do.

And there are other control glitches that I've seen. In My Player mode, I've played games or drills, where when I pick up a ball, or first get passed a ball, I get stuck in an animation where I'm holding the ball over my head, looking to pass to someone. It takes about a second or two to get out of it, and start heading up court. There was also one glitch on an offensive possession where I was at the top of the 3 pt line, and my player just froze there, unable to move, but I was able to pass the ball and move afterwards though.

One thing I hate about this game is how much you have to pay attention to the animations. Everything you do has to be w/ the animations in mind so simple moves can become frustrating.

Because if the defender is in a certain position you can't move in a certain way. This is cool because it simulates what's happens irl but I don't like being controlled by animations. This is something I've always hated about 2K and that is that the offense and defense aren't really seperate entities. They are both apart of the same animation system so there's no conflict between the two at all.

Which I hate b/c that means that only one player can win out either the def or off player. And a lot of times you cant break out of these anims so it just becomes frustrating to know that you got beat and theirs nothing you can do.

This system isn't neccessarily a bad one but its just not something I like. I hope that in the coming years 2K can move away from this system but if not I'm sure the "other game" will suffice.
