Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
I do wish the bring back the passing out animation when you keep your guys in there tired. I thought it was funny. I guess they can make it when he don't have the ball he is bending over tired w/ his hands on his knees.GT Agent August

After reading this thread, I would admit that NBA Live '98 was the greatest NBA game I've ever played. I recall playing that game and being blown away by the realism - and I also believe there was no such thing as sliders...you simply played it as is.

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
LMAO
Lol yeah it's like bizarro world.
Is it just me or does 2k10 have by far the best dunks ever seen in any basketball game? I still see new animations fairly regularly which is amazing seeing as i have been playing for this long. They could still be improved slightly but seriously some of the dunks/ tip slams / oops are a thing of beauty.
I don't play online so i have no comment there. Bit speaking offline, I like how each player's game is different. From Lebron vs. Melo dunking. To Rondo/Parker driving to the paint vs. D.Will/Nash more all around game. I say 2k10 is the first game that actually knowing your opponents weakness, helps you win games. Why the hell would I crowd Rondo at the three point line? That's why it's tougher to guard player like Kobe, Melo and Durant. They have both inside and outside game. And it should be a challenge guarding these guys. 2k10 dominates the previous games in this area. Mismatches work you see the AI actually going to mismatches...for some reason your pg is on a big, you will see the the cpu go to post. Also in 2k9 there were way too many "Sir Bench-alots" coming in the game and behaving like the second coming of Jordan. I don't see that in 2k10. 2k10>>>>>>>>2k9.
NBA 2K10 features the best dunks I've ever experienced in a video game. There were a number of small details they improved upon between 2K9 and 2K10 that made a big difference.
First, it seems as if dunks go down with much more authority this season. They're slammed through the rim rather than getting caught in the net like a jump shot swish animation. On that same hand, not all dunks go down in the same fashion. As everyone knows from being a weak dunker at some point during My Player Mode, some slams rattle in. Some slams go down with force, but not before the ball hits a piece of the rim on the way down. The variation in how the ball finishes makes each dunk appear that much more realistic and authentic.
Second, the implementation of strong hands has made a huge difference (right handed vs. left handed). We now see a lot more unique animations where players have to adjust their bodies to rise and slam with their right hand (because they may not be as strong with their left). I never thought this change would make such a profound difference.
Third, the hand-to-rim physics are the best to date. Some of those power two hand, hanging guard slams I see Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose pull off at times look too legit. . .too legit to quit.
Finally, the addition of frequent (and pretty realistic) tip dunks has been a game changer. This was one of those things (we all have 'em) I'd been requesting for years so I'm obviously pumped it finally came through. It adds another dimension to the game. And, as you mentioned Jonesy, I'm still seeing new animations - either in alley, tip, or normal dunking form. It's awesome.

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
I loved Live 99! The menu music was so memorable in that game- just thinking about it brings back so many memories.
Thinking about the older games is a great way to make us appreciate how far we've come. I think a lot of times even though we have 10000% more realism now, we played the older games when we were younger and it didn't take as much for us to be impressed or have fun because kids just play the game in front of them and enjoy it... Nostalgia makes the old games look awesome.
Where as today we're (haha, anyone who was around for Live 95, hehe) worried about the game being ultra realistic and improving drastically each year, and that can suck the fun out of it a bit. For example, I'd be curious to hear what a younger gamer, whose first bball game was 2k8-2k10, talk about the series.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
Finally someone said it! I personally believe 2K REGRESSED in MANY ways with 2K10. I think the best next Gen was 2K8, but 2K10 was NOT a great improvement over 2K9...if any improvement at all.Gamertag: Don Bellagachi

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
Haha, I think people know that 2k10 is amazing in so many ways- but they just reach a point of frustration (with the controls) and at that point things get a bit irrational and it's easy to blurt out that 2k10 is worse then 2k7-9.
Czar posted something great earlier today...
2k7 was way to much arcade action for me. Realism and controls have to meet in the middle for me. Its can't be all one way or all the other. There is a balance that 2k8 had that I think they need to get back to. IF they do then people will be able to notice all the other work that was done these past 2 years on actual gameplay. The horrific controls of 2k9 and 2k10 masked alot of the progress they actually made in gameplay.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
I just finished playing nba 2k9.. i played it for 5 hours straight. OMG.. i swear its wayy better than 2k10 because it had amazing defense. I couldnt dunk the ball all the time with lebron.. but in 2k10 i can dunk with lebron everytime. STILL 2k10 is WAYY BETTER BUT JUST BECAUSE OF DEFENCE IN NBA 2k9 i would take nba 2k9 over nba 2k10.. idk its porb just me but beleive me 2k10 online, people dunked wayy more than they dunked in nba 2k9.Comment
