Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
Bottom line:
2K9 rewarded you for actually WORKING to get a good shot. Whatever you say about three moves being able to get past a defender whenever you want is absurd. I would regularly hold opponents to a shooting percent in the 30's. The lockdown D was MUCH better and all you had to do was back up and let them do their move. When they get done with the animation you're still in front of them...
2k10 rewards you for just throwing the ball in the paint for easy layups TIME after TIME after TIME. Lockdown D is no where near as responsive.
Take it for what it is but remember this is just an OPINION. But I feel like if you've played tons of online games with 2k9 and 2k10, it's pretty obvious which game FEELS more like an NBA game.
2k9 Gameplay > 2k10 Gameplay
(this is not a 2k10 bashing post, let me just say now that I LOVE 2k10, but enjoyed 2k9 more. Can't wait for 2k11, it's gonna be ****!)Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
I don't understand, 2k10 rewards you for working a good shot too. They did turbo a lot better in 2k10 compared to 2k9 meaning guys that spam the turbo with Lebron, actually get tired. The defense is fine, I find it responsive and I enjoy that I can finally shut down most of the people that try to abuse flaws in the game. You have to anticipate where the defender is going and mess around with the sliders ( defensive pressure, help defense) in the coaching profiles and the defensive pressure setting in the player matchups. For the most part in 2k9, the best defense I usually played was when I felt forced to spam the double team button on Lebron users and swing the help. I don't feel that is the case this year with the new contact animations that trigger in the paint and the revamped turbo system."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

It's amazing how bad defense was in 2K9(comared to 2K10) when the cover boy was Kevin Garnett.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
If you play offline at all, you can't possibly have the opinion that 2k9 feels more real. It just doesn't. Online, there hasn't been a game that has been realistic. Online is about finding people that will play realistic or just trying to find the exploits in the game and use them to beat whatever exploits ur opponent has found. Offline is what you do if you want a realistic game, and 2k10 offers a much more realistic game than 2k9.I don't understand, 2k10 rewards you for working a good shot too. 2k9 was so bad in the paint. I remember in leagues we had to put the sliders at 35. And even that wasn't good enough.
I think what people are complaining about are the drop animations when the user tries to cut off the offensive player. And trip or "touch the ground" animation would happen. Causing the user to "lose" control of their player for a few second. But like I said before in 2k9. Defenders recovered to fast for gamble or choosing the wrong direction. 2k9 defenders recovery were unrealistic. My sigs video is great proof of that.
This also goes for those failed steal attempts when user miss time a steal. And a canned animation for the offensive player would put the defender out of position. Which was to cut down on users spamming the steal button. Making it more of a gamble to press the button. Same goes for above when the defender is trying to cut off the players direction. Same thing applies there.
These failed animations were placed in to make defenders play for gambling.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
I don't know... I've been playing 2k10 for months now but last night I went back and played a couple games of 2k9 and I don't care what argument anyone has, 2k9 justs feels more fluid and realistic to me. It's just my personal opinion but I feel like if anyone goes back and plays both games, its obvious which game feels more like an NBA game and that game is 2k9.
I dare everyone to take the 2k challenge! Go play both games (online) and you tell me which one is better. Instead of nit-picking little things that are wrong with each game, use your brain and see which one is more fluid in your opinion. The answer should be pretty obvious I feel like.Last edited by PhinsFan86; 08-05-2010, 12:59 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 > NBA 2K10
it sounds like all you do is play online... obviously it isn't gonna be realistic online. Offline, this is hands down the most realistic game of basketball I've played. And this is easily the longest I've played a game without getting tired of it (other than popping in NFL 2k5 or APF 2k8 every once in awhile)Comment
