How do I actually trigger my special layups? I'm a 6'3 SG on the Wizards and I have Jamal Crawfords layup package but every single time i go up for a layup, I do a generic one. Is there any way to specifically do one of my special ones?

You don't, it happens randomly, just press L1 and up on the shot stick, and it will do it sometimes

isnt it just rewarded to you after some random time spent playing nba 2k11? i usually got a shoe like every 2-3 hours when im playing the game

i unlocked probably 2 or 3 shoes from the jordan challenges but i dont think the different modes have anything to do with getting the shoes...it's just an accumulation of playing time(hours)

i actually had the +10 dunk shoe as the last shoe to unlock...i wasnt too heavily infatuated with it to begin with though...i preferred the bonuses to the 3pt and medium range....now i just use the shoe with the steal bonus

I'm still getting the 40 mins per game on the Magic which I find strange but it's great to be apart of a good team now.
i think it has to do with your potential rating...for some reason 2k developers didnt really tinker with that attribute...everyone who plays my player mode has a low potential rating in their stat card...it sort of conflicts with being drafted first round especially if you're a top 10 pick...

this question is still weird to me since i never encountered the dunking issue everyone is referring to...i thought all you need was like around 70 in dunk and at least an adequate vertical rating...maybe i never noticed because i prefer layups...but i dont know...try pouring stats into verticals if dunk is too costly

I can't remember exactly what was recomennded to me a while back but I knew it was vertical, standing dunk, and dunk. I put some SP into those and started jammin the ball well. The bad thing that happened with that though is I think I've recorded every replay of my guy dunking the ball.

Edit; These were the posts I was refering to. This info helped me.

I want out of Orlando, but I don't like getting traded during my rookie year, BUT I am only 25 games in, ughhh I might just request one anyway, and when I am asked in the press conference I'll be like "I never heard any rumor." Play dumb.

My Player is a 5'11" all-around PG. I haven't played an NBA video game, much less the 2k series, in a couple years so I was absurdly rusty. My guy got drafted in the 2nd round by the Heat. Ended up getting sent to the D-league.

Played 11 or so games there before getting called up by the Lakers. Strangely I got the Jordan letter before I was even called up. Also I was immediately thrust into the starting PG spot for LA. My first pro outing was a bit rough but now I've got the hang of it. Man this mode is so addicting.

BTW, what quarter length does everyone play on?

This was my first 2k basketball game and it took me about a week to get the hang of it. MyPlayer is a very fun mode. I play on 12 min quarters.

would you also like to be sponsored/insured by Head and Shoulder shampoo like troy polamalu?

but on another note...need more sponsors and endorsements...need incentives to keep playing rather than just the milestones

I play on 12min quarters, even as a Starter it doesnt take that long to finish a game and I like to see realistic stats anyways.

In my My Player my guy is getting a lot better, went from averaging 16PPG to 21PPG. Still with the Heat (even though I didnt even wanna get traded to them heh, made them my 3rd team just because I couldnt think of anything else and figured it would be a long shot that they would even take me since they have Miller) we are Tied for 1st in the East with the Bucks. We lost to the Mavs, and Bucks before going on a 4 game win streak that got snapped by the #3 team in the East, the Knicks. I can already tell that the playoffs are going to be very hard to win it all and we are by no means going to just take it, the Bucks have beat us each time we played them, Mavs have beat us each time but we dominated Kobe and the Lakers tho. But I wouldnt be surprised to see a Bucks-Mavs NBA Finals.

I play 12 minute quarters, itsmorefun having realistic stats.Well, my nets PG is getting 35 minutes a game, so hopefully i start soon. Devin harris does the same thing every possesion. He dribbles out the clock, then drives in for a contested layup that more often than not misses. I was on the warriors and ellis did this sometimes, but he made them so I didn't care. We're one of the worst teams in the league because we lost lopez for a couple months. I like NJ, so I probably won't ask for a trade.
