Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
What level is everyone playing on?? I play on Superstar/Sim and I regularly get blown out and can rarely get a W since my teammates can't shoot over 30%. I love the game and my player does pretty well (A+ teammate grade with 20, 5 and 5) so I dont want to change the difficulty level until I get on a better team (currently with the Bucks after getting traded from the Wizards). Just wondering if anyone is gettin similar results on the same difficulty level???Comment

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
I'm a sg but noticed you can call plays when you're subbed in at point guard. At around 30 games the 2k insider told me I was a "floor general" and could call plays but I didnt get a chance to figure out how to do it since I simmed through that game b/c we were getting slaughtered by the Heat and they took away the title right after the game haha.Comment

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
Also it seems like no matter what teammates I have they just plain suck. I started in Miami and the big 3 was laughable, jacking up shots repeatedly for no reason and missing. Now I'm on the Mavs, I have not seen Jason Kidd make a single shot. Butler has done absolutely nothing at all. Dirk is injured so I don't know about him yet but I assume it will be the same. I want to play like a real team but it's impossible, the only way to win is to score 40 a game...Comment

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
I've done it once and played every game. About 10 games after requesting a trade they said they couldn't find a suitable destination or something like that. I tried again recently but just simmed the games rather than played them (to see what would happen), and through about the same number of games I got the same message.Comment

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
I just got my 1st start after arenas got hurt and ended up having to guard kobe as a 55 overall scoring sg. I had been doing well until that game getting by on defense by playing safe and sticking to my man. I usually get scored on plenty but nothing like what kobe did to me. He lit me up for 48 and must have had like 20 just in the second alone where he really caught fire.
As for the whole teammates can't shoot thing definitely seeing this. I don't know that I have seen them shoot over like 35% as a group yet and I have tried several settings.
On default/pro my team(wizards) seems to dominate and my player is godly. Only tried this once and only made it halfway through but I had like 35 or so at the half and my team was up on pheonix 76-24.
On sim/pro my player seems to dominate but noone else on the court can shoot. My player is a good shooter but he becomes too much of a factor being the only one on the court who can make his shots consistantly
On default/allstar my team can't shoot to save their lives and granted its been the suns and the lakers but both opponents have shot over 60% and have been playing backups most of the second half.
On sim/allstar the CPU once again cannot be stopped and now for my shooting is somewhat worse than pro but still I am good enough to score.
Anything above allstar it seems my player is required to carry my team and even if he does the other team will shoot 60% so we will lose by atleast 20Comment

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
Any chance we can split this thread into 'advice' and 'how my career is going'?
It's 80+ pages long and if you have a question it's almost impossible to see if its been answered.
So I haven't played 2K in years and have become addicted to myplayer mode. I think I have made some bad choices though that are holding me back, considering all the stuff I've read in this thread.
I created a 6'10 rebounding PF. I got drafted 1st pick 2nd round by the Nets.
I simply can't score worth a damn. I have started putting points into dunk and shoot in traffic and such, basically just so I can finish put-backs, which I miss half the time now. I rebound pretty well (about 7-8 a game on 6 minute quarters, playing as a 6th man), get some blocks and play great defense. I only average like 3 points a game and probably half of that is on free throws. I finish with an A+ teammate rating most games mostly from setting screens and such, but usually only get between 800-1200 points with my high being around 1400. Sounds like people are getting a lot more than that.
I think a big problem is that I only have a 30 speed and it's crazy expensive to increase (over 700 points). I have heard the best way to increase it is the dribble drill but as a big, slow PF with limited ball skills, I can't even complete that for a bronze rating. The only drill I can finish for a gold is the 'challenge shot' drill which seems WAY too easy.
I am about 30 games into my first season and have a 55 or so rating.
Any suggestions? Am I doing ok? should I start over? I'm unsure what skills I should be improving to get more skill points per game.
You are doing ok but not great. You are probably playing as your player should being a 55 overall rebounding pf who isn't very athletic. You probably won't get the high end sp's though until your player can put the ball into the hoop.
The cheapest way to improve your scoring is consistency. It starts off at less than 100 sp's per point so if you are gaining 1200 a game then you will for quite a while be able to raise it over 10 points per game. If you haven't added to it then it is a 25 but if in say 5 or 6 games you can make it a 75 it will really help your player a lot.
While consistancy doesn't help the chance of making the 1st shot it will make it so that if you get 2 or 3 to go then you can really open up your game and also allows you to take way more chances because your player won't go cold very easy so you won't have shooting slumps.
The next skills I would work on would be shoot in traffic and layup. These are pretty cheap and will allow a lot of finishes on tough shots in the paint. Also, if your strength isn't great it really helps finishing through contact.
After that then worry about the actual shooting starting with shot low post if you want to use the post game or shot inside if you dont and then move out from there.
I have had players who could put up 20 a game pretty easily with 30 speed, my current sg scores almost at will and is only 70 speed much slower than other sgs. He just happens to also be a lights out shooter who can really get on a roll when he needs to. Speed can get you some easy shots but if you dont want to use workarounds with the drills then for the same price as the speed you can make your player much more of a threat. Its all a matter of do you want a player who can get those few open looks with speed or a guy who can score whether he is open or not with all the other skills.Comment

I am going back to pro/default...pro/sim the grizzlies get blown out no matter what. I'll just try to limit my shots to the best I get so I don't end up with ridiculous stats.Comment

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)
Later first round pick at SG for the Wizards. Took me 18 games but I am in the starting lineup. Avg 19 ppg and 4 rpg. Shooting 57% from the field, my mid range jumper game is sick. Dropped 51 in my last game vs the Knicks.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment
