I'm a player-locker, so I will use the shot stick myself.

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
I'm tempted to turn it on for both. I haven't played since 2k9 but the real FT% really upped the authenticity since I would make 99% of FTs. Now with the shots, it could also help up the realism. I just hope it doesn't punish too much when players are wide open.Pistons Tigers Flames Stars Lions Marlins Falcons

For Free Throws for sure, but I want to hear one of the 2K developers discuss the specific under the hood mechanics of both before I decide what to use for jump shooting.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
jrose-I believe Real FG% means that people will make shots primarily based on their real life shooting %'s from those areas of the floor. For example if Bayless shot 30% from three he will shoot close to that in game when you pull the trigger.
I'm looking forward to using them for both (I always used real FT%)EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
Does that mean that shooting a 3 with Andrew Bynum will be exactly the same as shooting a three with Ray Allen just dependent on your timing? If so, I'll not be using the timing option as that doesn't really make sense.Comment

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
i am a VET and like learning shot releases. No point in practice mode if you dont need to learn how to shoot. ITs a cop out for association heads. let them have it because it wont work online. People always looking for the easy way out as shown by the Poll responcesComment

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
This is my ideal feature. I love playing, but I like having the ratings determine shot success over my stick skills.
Last year it was too much about what shooting animation a player had. Some were easy as hell, for example: Wayne Ellington. I could score 25 a game with his jump shot just because it was easy to get the timing right.
I don't want that.
Also I couldn't shoot with some studs like D-Wade, LBJ, and Melo. It was frustrating because I'd get "perfect release" but would brick everything.
I want to worry about running plays and executing them to get good looks while getting the ball into the hands of my play makers.
I don't want to worry about having the release right. I'll leave that on my little cyber players!
This feature is great, thanks 2K!!!SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Practice mode does not simply apply to learning releases. It applies to running plays, isomotion, and seeing what players are capable of.

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
Don't think so natedZA. If Bynum shoots a 3 he is severely handicapped by his % in real FG%. If he shoots 10% from three that is what he will likely shoot. When real FG% is left off he still shoots based on his real FG% but user skill will slightly increase/decrease the success based on their input.
Atleast this is how I think it works. Wang/2k would probably be better at explaining it though.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
Im surprised this hasn't been explained with detail in an insight. Mike or one of the other devs should explain this a little more."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life
Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I'm fast, dudes can't get past my past
How they supposed to deal with my perfect present?"Comment

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
Hopefully this clears everything up:
Shot Stick Timing
With this option turned ON, as the name implies, your timing release will be factored in to your shot %. It's layered on top of the player's Shot Rating, type of shot taken (jumper, drifter, leaner, etc), defense impact, etc. Being really late or really early on your release will have negative impact, and being perfect on your release will give you an added boost in making the shot.
Real Player %
When you turn this ON, it's basically ignoring your release on the Shotstick completely. You won't get penalized for early or late releases. The same factors come into play as mentioned above, sans the stick release bonus/penalty. Pretty much how Real FT % works. We simply migrated the feature over to all the shots as well.Comment

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
It sounded simple and the explanation was simple yet I expected it to be something different..lol Thanks J. I coulda swore the Real FT feature factored in the stick too, but only to a certain extent(with good ft shooters they'll make it even if you just flick it)..?"I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life
