Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
Yep. That's how I play. Real FT%. You don't have to time it. Just flick the stick and the player does the rest.
Like NDAlum, I'm going to use Real FG%. I have long hated the idea of the user having power over statistics. Its worse in baseball and not my idea of fun in basketball. I respect everyone that wants the risk/reward of the shot stick. I get it, completely. But, I don't like that risk/reward. I like to know that when I take a jump shot with Kobe Bryant, Kobe's real numbers will determine the success of the shot, not me.
I know for many that sounds backwards and the argument is always: "It's a video game. If you want real life, just watch the game."
For those that say that, I guess you'll just never get it.Comment

Of course we will. Gamers love to complain, but it will be the first thread compared to hundreds we've already seen on OS regarding the shot stick. Give people a board and they will post in it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
We need to have two totally separate boards for online and offline players. That way those machismo online ballers can congregate together in a mutual admiration society congratulating each other on their Alpha male stick skills.
I know there are a lot of cool online ballers here, but there are a lot who just bug with their preening. Please fellas, stop quoting the peacocks so I don't see their drivel.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment
Real player % are for kids and cop-outs. Shot Stick/button timing are for men and highly skilled players. SMH @ people wanting control but now wanting some automatic crap that u dont have to really work for. I want 2K to take this feature out because there is no learning curve to this.
Or maybe it's for players who want their players to play realistic to their ratings.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
But i dont know why this has to turn into a offline vs online thing. Which ever one you like dose not have to do anything with which ever way you play the game.
But me personally i will use the shot stick. I feel like if i want shooting stats to mimic real life then why not have every other stat the same. Heck why not rebounding mimic real life and have d12 automatically get 11 to 12 boards a game, and so on.
To me that is why i play a video game so i can take whats giving to me which is nba players and teams then use my skills to win. thats the point of me having a controller in my hands. I know its not elite shooting controls where it on you if u make or miss but i do want to have some satisfaction on making a shoot and i just wont have that if its up to a something else on weather or not the shoot goes in.
Not to compare games but in the elite forum i said i love the shooting because it is the closest any game has gotten to mimic real life shotting. Ignore how hard or easy it is to make a shoot. Im just talking about the concept of it. No game can mimic what it takes to make a shoot irl. Thats bending of the wrist, follow through, power with legs, guide hand, etc, etc. No game can make you have to worry bout those things unless they gave you a body suit with a ball that has a motion sensors in them lol. But Elite is on the right track with holding the stick up for the power, and timing, and holding it in the right direction for accuracy. its the first time where you have power, accuracy, and timing to control which the things that effect shooting just without the fundamentals. With 2k they at least have the timing so i would hate for it to be taking away and not have no influence what so ever on my shot besides getting open
I also dont get the argument the sig animations make it difficult to make shots with certain players. Well if you take the time to learn the controls why cant it be the same with shooting. If you want to be good with a certain team or shooter then you will have to practice shooting with him just like you would dribblingComment

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
Hmmm hard to say how I feel about this without trying it beforehand but I do wonder if it's totally real player percentage based what's the point of playing then?
Obviously choosing the right team will be a big factor when playing with this option on.Comment

I'm playing offline anyway, so I don't see why it's such a big deal for me to use it. If I am a lesser player because of it, so be it, but I love it that the option is there for me.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
It comes down to me not wanting to score 25/gm with a subpar player because he has an easy release.
That's what happened in the past for me. I much rather let their ratings take over, not the animation.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?
I don't know about most, but sometimes I just get into the mood to play as a certain guy and have fun. I don't have time to learn every single person's release point in the game, nor do I want to take that time.
I'm playing offline anyway, so I don't see why it's such a big deal for me to use it. If I am a lesser player because of it, so be it, but I love it that the option is there for me.
I was just saying why i personally dont like it.
With timing release i have never had problems with stats being inflated or deflated because i played exatly how the team irl plays and shots i pose to make go in and shots dont im not pose to make dont go in as long as im playing on one of the higher difficulty levels. With sub par scorers i for one have never been able to put up numbers they would not put up first because i would not center my offense around them are take that many shoots to score that much with them and second their ratings would not let me score that much.(EDIT):I took nash out because i think jamesion is worst lol) But if i got rashad lewis and i have antwan jameison gaurding him im going to take advantage of that seeing that he is one of the worst defenders in the league and im going to give lewis the ball and let him take him off the dribble cause thats what lewis do and also im going to have lewis cutting to spot up and i fully expect him to hit his shoots if he is open because irl antwan can not keep shaq in front of him if he wanted to. Using real% would take that advantage away
When players miss a wide open shot what are you going to say? O its ok because he has to mimic his real life shootng percentages.
The only reason stats get crazy is when im playing some cheeser online. And offline the fact that the added a simulation mode makes it even betterLast edited by fatleg3; 09-26-2010, 09:15 PM.Comment
