Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

    Wesley Johnson's Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are off to a fine start, going 2-4 so far, but 2-0 in played games with one of them being a "signature" win over the division rival Bulls. Deng and Rose were both great, but I was able to comeback in the 2nd half, and then get stops late to take the victory in Chicago. I beat the Nets soundly in the opener.

Simulating has not been kind for the Pistons, as they have compiled an 0-4 record, and got rookie big man Greg Monroe injured for about a month.

Wesley is off to a good start, averaging 18 per with 6 boards, and nearly 3 steals! Rip leads the team in scoring, and Stuckey has played fairly well. Even in the game he couldn't shoot (Rose played him nicely) he was getting to the line and creating for his teammates.

Kenyon Martin has proven he still has some gas left in his tank, averaging a double-double with over 13 ppg.

McGrady thinks his role should be more, so I upped him from around 11 to 14 minutes per. He has played well, so its not undeserved. He tends to draw men to him and be able to kick out and make things happen for the rest of the squad. He's pretty slow in his advancing age, though...

After I beat Chicago, they sent me a very interesting trade offer, but I declined. They offered me Luol Deng and Taj Gibson for Rip and Stuck. So, it was a quality deal offered by the CPU, I just didn't want to make another move. I don't see why they ask for both guards with having Rose, but seeing Brewer I could see why they want Rip. He played horribly against me.

A.I. is in the roster set I use, and has signed for the MLE with the Jazz. Deron Williams won the first Player of the Week for his conference, and the Jazz are off to a fine start, so we'll see if this wrecks their locker room.

Speaking of locker rooms, the Pistons started with a 40% team chemistry. After the last 2 simulated losses it has dipped down to 38%, and I am about to play the Golden State game according to my schedule. I did play 3 quality opponents in the simmed losses, in Boston, Atlanta, and Oklahoma City, so hopefully I get them on the way back.

The overall rating for the Pistons is a 70 and they have peaked at 11th in the Power Rankings after defeating the Bulls and being 2-1.

Probably update again at the 10-15 game mark. Thanks for reading.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Okay here's my end of the season update as I mentioned would be coming earlier in this thread.

I played 80 out of 82 games, 12 minute quarters, about half on Pro/Sim, then about half on All-Star/Sim. I simulated the last two games because I was benching Wade and LeBron for the last two games to get them some rest before the playoffs started. Now I'm in the playoffs, and I'm up on the 76ers 3-0 in the first round. They gave me a run for my money and I won by 3 in the first game, then I proceeded to win by 12 the next game, and 17 the next. All I'm doing is forcing them to shoot outside shots all day, they don't have more than a few good shooters so it's working wonders except for maybe that first game. Anyways, I finished the season 78-4. Sounds crazy but I had a lot of close games, but with the overwhelming talent of Wade, LeBron, Bosh, and even Miller with his constant three's, I was able to win almost every game at the end. Wade and LeBron made the All-NBA first team, LeBron finished the season as MVP, Mike Miller won the Sixth Man of the Year award, and Erick Spolestra won the Coach of the Year Award. Wade averaged exactly 30 PPG, LeBron just over 27 PPG while also adding 11.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game. Bosh lead the league in rebounds and averaged 17.2 PPG and 12.5 RPG. Wade, LeBron, Bosh, and Miller all finished the season over 50% FG, while Miller shot 49.4% from downtown, while hitting over 300 threes to beat the single season record! Also, free throws are just too easy, with Wade, LeBron, and Bosh each shooting over 90% from the line, with LeBron finishing second in the league. I also made a trade for Kendrick Perkins, who was traded to the Bobcats earlier in the season and actually negatively affected their win-loss record and they were better after he was traded, and he did pretty darn good for me blocks and rebounds wise. He helps a lot but I know I can win without him as I was 30-1 when I made the trade for him. He just helps me not get out-rebounded so often. Anyways, in the off-season, title or not (and I fully expect a title as the Lakers are losing 3-1 in their first round series to the Grizzlies, LOL), I will be trying to sign either a point guard or multiple big men. I am also going to make re-signing Eddie House, Zydrunas Illgauskas, and Kendrick Perkins priority #1 as I want all 3 of them back as they have played huge roles for my team throughout the season. I will be willing to pay Perkins whatever he asks for, and I want House and Z back for the minimum, here's hoping I can do it. My main free agent targets will be that of Tyson Chandler, Nene, and Erick Dampier (when I started my association he was still a free agent and he signed with the Bobcats is why he is not on the Heat like he is in real life). Well, wish me luck and here's hoping for a title!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Currently in my third year with OKC. I went to the Western Conference semi-finals last season and hope to progress this season although only being 13-9. My starting lineup is:

        Westbrook (PG)
        Kirilenko (PF)
        Durant (SF)
        J.R Smith (SG)
        Okafour/Thabeet (C)

I'm really struggling with the center spot, I'm not the biggest fan of Okafour and while I find it fun playing with Thabeet, he is not the greatest rebounder.
Any reccomendations as to who I can replace both of them with? I need someone above 6ft 10 and who has a decent post game.

EDIT: Traded Ibaka for Austin Daye (to use at the center spot seeing as though he's 6-11) and it seems to be working great! Second game, he shot the lights out and got a double double with 4 min quarters: 30 points (15-20) , 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 assist.

With the heat's problems in IRL, maybe they should hire you as the coach seems like you were able to get the trio playing together lol. And 80 games is impressive, I don't think I have the commitment for that. Anyway, good luck and hopefully the lakers can dig themselves out of their 3-1 hole so you have some competition come the NBA finals.

I dont know...would give them a good scoring option behind Amar'e. There are not many other valid options/teams...which are contending in my assoc and need scoring from the 2 spot.

Should I move Arenas to PHX? The wizards are losing game after game and a deal moving Arenas out of WAS seems inevitable.

You say it is not a good fit...but why not?

I think Arenas would fit well at the 2 in PHO. They are willing to use a small backcourt there and he's a gunner. He also has the ability to attack with the ball in his hands so it would take pressure off of Nash to always have to be the one creating offense. The only reason I wouldn't see it is if PHO isn't winning now I don't think they would wanna add his contract.

                  Thanks for the answers
I play the first 10. Then I play every team at least once. Before the season start I write all the teams down in a notebook, then I'll go through the schedule and write down the date I'm going to play each team. As the year progresses I'll play games that I deem important, as well. I usually end up playing around 40 regular season games.

I think Gilbert going to either of those teams is a good move. They both have similar records and he could be the piece of the puzzle that catapults them from a 7 or 8 seed to a 4 or 5 seed.

Personally, I'd like to see him in PHX so that Nash and Hill can make one more run in the playoffs. However,I guess the problem becomes what does PHX give up to get him? I'm playing my Association with them and I can't quite remember everyones contracts but, I can't remember them having too many attractive expiring deals. Plus, I don't know if I would want to give away too much of the future. Especially since PHX likely going into rebuilding mode once Nash retires. Well on second though, I guess it depends on whether you think PHX will try to rebuild around Arenas or will he be one and done in PHX and maybe trade him for picks in the offseason.

Either way, I'm very interested in what you do. Hell, I may end up "copy catting" you trade Although, I am currently infatuated with JRich but, you never know.

Haha lol. Yeah it took a while, like 20 games or so, but I finally found out how to play with them, before that I got by on sheer talent alone. It's very simple actually, give LeBron the ball when he's in and be in pass-first mode, take the buckets with him as they come. When he's not in run Wade and Bosh together and run pick-and-roll's all day. I either get a drive with Wade, or a jumper with Bosh. It's easy to play with the Heat in a video game, tough in real life, lol. Thanks and yeah I'm hoping the Lakers do too, I was looking forward to playing them, the Spurs, or the Thunder in the finals, but mostly the Lakers. Would be a great series.

Sitting at 20-15 now in my Bucks chise. Bogut is out for 4-6 with a hammy injury and now Gooden is out for 1-2 weeks with a sore foot. Sanders filling in at the 5 in the mean time. In Bogut's absence, Jennings has had to step up for me and he has really done just that. Just dropped 35 with him on the Heat (still lost) and 24 against the Nets in a win. I'm sitting 6th in the conference and I'm pretty confident that I will make the playoffs. Soon as Bogut comes back it's time to make a push for home court advantage too.

Around the league, LeBron is leading the MVP race, Wall ROTY, Sixth man is currently Al Harrington (traded to 76ers) and Most Improved = J.J. Hickson.

Grizzlies knock out the Lakers as an 8 seed? Just goes to show that 2K still needs to fix a couple of things. I understand that miracles can happen, but the Grizzlies don't beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. Let alone 4 of the games being at LA.

As of right now I'm 2-11 as the Nets. I'm still getting a hang for this game while playing on HOF so this is to be expected.

As of right now I'm 2-11 as the Nets. I'm still getting a hang for this game while playing on HOF so this is to be expected.
People complained about home-court advantage, it gets fixed. Now you complain about teams grabbing road wins? Come on dude, can 2K win?

Well since it seems you're going for a realistic feel, phoenix probably wouldnt go after arenas. They have enough guards, and his contract is kinda crazy. But if it fits your association then why not.

                                Bulls Association: 2nd year pre-season

Lost 4-2 in the ECF to the Hawks, who went on to win the chip defeating the thunder 4-3.

                                Starting 5:
                                Rose
                                Pietrus
                                Deng
                                Boozer
                                Noah

                                Bench:
                                AK-47
                                Taj Gibson
                                Gortat
                                Korver
                                Stephenson
                                Alston*
Moody (rookie pf 23rd pick 74 rating/trade bait)
                                Scalabrine

Picked up AK-47 in the off-season

Stephenson, Gortat & Pietrus were all first year trades which I don't remember, sorry.

                                But thoughts of my team?
