Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Just had a great game last night against the Bobcats. Coming in to our 4th game in 5 days on the road, Utah (me) rolled into Charlotte and I thought I was going to win big. I just blew out Atlanta in Atlanta by 20.

First quarter Al Jefferson and Tim Duncan both pick up 2 fouls. I have to sit them and I bring in Fransisco Elson and Kyrylo Fesenko. The Bobcats and I are trading buckets, Williams is having some shooting issues and I now have ZERO inside game because Elson and Fesenko couldn't throw the basketball into the ocean and hit water.

At the end of the 1st half, Duncan and Jefferson have 3 fouls. Williams has 22 points and I'm down 58-50. Gordon Haywood also can't shoot tonight, but has 6 points so far after some nifty and 1's.

Beginning of the 3rd quarter Jefferson picks up foul #4 and I believe I'm destined to lose. Third quarter sees me down 13 and struggling to get anything going on offense. I bring Jefferson in (who has 7 points at the time) and tell myself he's playing until he fouls out.

Jefferson goes off in the 4th. Ends up with 21 points, 6-6 from the field and 9-9 from the free throw line. Our inside-out game was clutch when the Bobcats started double teaming Jefferson on the block and end up winning 118-104. Scored 40+ in the 4th quarter.

I'm 9-1 on the season and behind the 10-0 Lakers for 1st in the West.

tough playoff loss, can't wait to see what you do in the off-season. I'd prolly re-sign Vince Carter to a 1-2 year deal, see if you can add a forward that can push you over the top and give you a title before Nash is gone.

just played game 1 of what looks to be a long season with the 76ers. to many turnovers and not enough post skills yet killed me. lost to miami 104-89. game wasnt really that close. held lebron to 26 on 11 of 28 shooting. wade had 15 and bosh had 10. Iggy was able to match lebron going 11 for 19 and finishing with 28. brand had 17 and 10 rebounds. i have to definetly get my turnovers down. this years game is brutal if you dont play good basketball. didnt feel cheated though. only thing that really bothers me is lack of charging calls. but its not a game killer. commentary was pretty good. i like the way they talked about lebrons game against celtics the night before. good mixture of things related to the association. not sure what moves i will be making, if any. elton brand might have to go in order to free up some cap space. lost meeks for 2 weeks but that only means evan turner has to step up quicker. will keep you posted. by the way, this may be the best sports game i have ever played!!!!!!

But I'm 0-2 against Philadelphia, lost to the Knicks without Amar'e Stoudemire. So, IDK what's up either. I'm taking a little break from my Association at the moment.
LOL, kinda interesting. The games I've won are against all the good teams. I've beat Chicago, Dallas, Miami, LA Lakers, Boston, and I even beat Oklahoma City. But I lost to Minnesota, NJ Nets, Sacramento, Golden State, Toronto, and a few other mediocre teams.

My current record is 10-12. The last game against Dallas I kept my same sliders but turned on Coach Mode, and only called the plays. I won 99-95 in OT.

I sag'd off the players that don't do 3's well (including Rondo), and played tight on the players that do. Oh and they also were amazing under the glass so I lowered Crash the Boards setting down to only 1 or 2 clicks.

            Here are the stats:

            Washingon 101 - Boston 98

            Washington Stats
            J. Wall: 22 PPG / 12 APG / 8-16 FG's
            R. Lewis: 24 PPG / 8 RPG / 1 Steal / 9-14 FG's / 6-10 3PT
            R. Hibbert: 20 PPG / 7 RPG / 2 Blocks / 8-11 FG's
            A. Blatche: 13 PPG / 10 RPG

            Boston Stats
            R. Allen: 29 PPG / 4 RPG / 1 Steal / 11-16 FG's / 5-8 3PT
            K. Garnett: 20 PPG / 7 RPG / 1 Steal / 1 Block / 10-18 FG's
            R. Rondo: 15 PPG / 7 APG / 3 Steal / 7-18 FG's / 0-4 3PT
            P. Pierce: 12 PPG / 7 RPG / 5-9 FG's / 2-5 3PT

I use the same sliders that I used when I got my butt whooped by the Timberwolves, Warriors, and the Kings. For some reason my team plays well against tougher opponents as I also beat the Lakers and the Heat.

Was a great game that came down to the wire. Thank you for the advice with gameplanning as I've never done it before.
Cool, I should actually maybe create a thread where everybody explains how they game-plan as I feel it's quite an interesting subject and keeps the games important and interesting. Let us know how your following games turn out...

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I don't really scout teams (though I will for the Playoffs), in part because I don't know how the computer runs games when they are against me vs. simmed. What I do is adjust. During my first meeting, I'll try to figure stuff out by half time as far as defensive matchups and settings. I'm the Hawks, so if a perimeter guy is torching me, I'll try to put Crawford or Marvin Williams on him. If a post guy is beating me, I'll play as his defender and try to keep him from establishing good post position and call for double teams when he does.

After our first meeting, its a lot easier. I find I'm destroying some teams the second time we play, even if they gave me a tough time in our first meeting. The Nets ate me up with Brook Lopez and Devin Harris, but Damion James struggled outside, so I matched up accordingly and beat them by 30.

My question is about Real Player %. Does everyone play with it? I was playing with Shot Stick Timing, but I turned it onto RP% for my game with the Magic last night and Joe Johnson became horrible. He couldn't hit a three to save his life, even coming off screens to get wide open. It was really frustrating, because if he had knocked some of those down, we could have won. His 3-point rating is only like a 70. Its kinda cheese to keep playing with Shot Stick Timing, isn't it? But I'd like my top scorer to keep being useful.

i skipped to the end of my first thunder season and playoffs we got 4th spot in the west and beat the spurs 4-3 then lost to the 1st seed rockets and we went down 4-3 overall finals were between lakers and celts and the celtics took it 4-2

                mvp: Lebron james
                finals mvp : Rajon rondo

Just finished my pre season and after being offered rookies and trading them for decent forwards that i needed i was left with 9 definite guys playing and 5 expired contracts. I resigned rodney stuckey,Hedo and jeff green and tried to resign nenad but he rejected it so i went into the FA with 12 guys and only 1 centre i didnt hav much cap space so i decided to buy some role players and then trade find them for some other guys. With 1 day to go till my second season i have 3 centres(shaq,( very cheap and a post player and rebounder) aldrich (young guy who is very good off bench) and joel anthony(decent back up for the other 2) i also have 3 good point guards in (westbrook, stuckey and house) and my forwards hav good balance and depth ill repost my full squad later.

What do you guys suggest for the Hawks when I sim with them? They seem to always lose when I sim, and it usually is because the guards shoot low percentages. We lost to the Pistons and they are the worst team in my Association...
Yeah I went to the finals with the hawks and i simulated like half of the games. Having a good PG is pretty important so I went and got steve nash who helped a lot. If you don't want to do that, then you could try johnson at pg. I tried this as an experiment and the team had a lot more success.

If I was you I'd still try and contend, you've obviously done well to make play-offs, try and improve through the free-agency and get a good post like Randolph.

                    Thanks guys.

@ ROABS - The Lakers are definitely tough. Especially with all their size and Kobe's being as clutch as he is. I'm in the market for a big-time, defensive minded PF, too replace Hill.

I'm still struggling with my decision. I advanced to the off-season last night and Nash, VC and Pietrus all regressed. Right now I'm leaning towards keeping all of them but, I'm not 100% confident with that. Hell, I actually laid in bed last night thinking about what I wanted to do before I feel asleep. It's been a long time since a game has done that to me.

You are carrying a lot of age with Nash/VC combo, but like someone pointed out, two future 1st rounders could help you really restock behind those guys. A PG and a good wing could set you up very nicely.

Yeah, a lot of age and a lot of $$$$ too. As far as restocking, you're right, the two picks should help. I'll probably look at PF first. Dragic is my PG of the future but, a 3rd (if I keep Nash) is going to be needed. At SG/SF i think Dudley & Pietrus will be able to hold their own however, since I may replace VC then I may look there first. Also, I'll probably dump Childress. I can't really get his shot down.

Yes, you need to be fairly close so, that both teams remain under the salary cap.

yea dragic is def a future guard for the suns.. im not sure if you have rules for trading for players but serge ibaka is a pf for the thunder i think. i had him on my suns association before and he helped alot on rebounds and defense. i ended up restarting my franchise and am sitting mid january torn between making moves to become younger or stick with what the suns have and make a run. ( if possible lol) i

havent played association in about a week lol been sitting at the trade deadline debating moves

not usually a fan of making many moves though..
