Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Would love to start an association, but im having trouble finding the right settings. Anyone have any suggestions? Im playing 12 minute quarters with tweaked sliders, hall of fame, and it's become too easy for me. Im almost scoring about 30 points (if not more) after every quarter.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Decided to screw around and sim a couple seasons with the Timberwolves to see what I could do, and ended up having maybe the greatest draft luck of all time in the process. In order, here's what I did.

First and foremost, my only real beginning move was to tank 2010-2011. So I tried to free up some eventual cap space.

      - Traded Darko to the Blazers for Joel Przybilla's expiring contract. They initially declined but their counter offer was reasonable (my 2011 2nd rounder for their 2012 2nd rounder) so I took it.
      - Traded Ridnour to the Hornets for Marcus Banks in an incredibly transparent salary move.

I ended up with the league's worst record and let Przybilla/Brewer walk during free agency. I turned over my coaching staff, firing Rambis and his Assistant for an above-average HC and Assistant and upgraded my NBA/Prospect scouts. I also won the Draft Lottery (btw, using auto-generated draft classes for this).

Picking first, I took a 6'10 236LB Small Forward who was listed as "Like Lebron James."
Then, for whatever reason, the Hornets offered me the #2 pick in that draft and Luke Ridnour for Johnny Flynn and Lazar Hayward. I figured "yeah sure, why not?" and took a 6'3, 183lb SG with my pick (Like: Eric Gordon).

In free agency, I had the space to go after Carmelo but declined to buy anyone. The goal here was 2012-13, not 2011-12. However, I had a sudden logjam at SF and an unhappy Wesley Johnson so I traded Martell Webster to the Kings for Samuel Dalembert straight up.

In 2011-12, my team finished with the league's 4th worst record. The lottery did me no favors so I kept the #4 draft pick. Kosta Koufos, Marcus Banks and Anthony Tolliver were gladly waived in the off-season. I re-signed Michael Beasley with the intent to trade him. More on that in a minute.

In the draft, I took a PG (like: Jason Kidd) who my Prospect scout says has A+ potential.

In Free Agency, with a small amount of remaining cap, I bought Armon Johnson to be my backup PG.

As soon as I hit the new (pre)season, Beasley was off to Indiana for Roy Hibbert. Ridnour went to the Rockets for an unhappy Jordan Hill, who will fill out my frontcourt rotation.

So entering 2012-13, I had flipped the Timberwolves from the league's 29th overall team to its 7th essentially only by drafting and making a few rotation-building trades. And I think I'm going to give this Association a run and play through it.

      The final rotation:
      PG: Brent Dudley (2012 #4 Pick, 76OVR) - 38 Min
      SG: Marion Henderson (2011 #2 Pick, 85OVR) - 37 Min
      SF: Wesley Johnson (79) - 36 Min
      PF: Kevin Love (82) - 38 Min
      C: Roy Hibbert (80) - 36 Min
Sixth Man: Lionel Pederson (2011 #1, 81OVR) - Natural SF, will play some PF at 6'10
Rotation: Nikola Pekovic (11 min), Armon Johnson (10 min), Jordan Hill (8 min)

I think this one might be fun.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

My suns team lost to the rockets in the 2nd round of the playoffs in 5 games. kevin martin was in beast mode all series averaging about 35pts a game. Overall i was happy we made the 2nd round especially with the injuries we had at the end of the season.

The heat won the championship against the rockets in 6 games and lebron won mvp.

Now to the offseason. with vince carters 17 million coming off the books ive been debating making a run at carmello anthony.

        current lineup after draft

        PG- S.Nash 81ovr ( G.Dragic 76 ovr )

        SG- My Player 76ovr ( empty )

SF- Jared Dudley 73ovr ( 67 ovr Cj Leslie 2011 draft pick)

        PF- A. Randolph 78ovr ( C.Frye 72ovr ) ( 66ovr Trey Thompkins 2011 draft pick)

        C- M.gortat 75ovr ( R.Lopez 71 ovr)

we are currently 22million below the cap right now, leaving enough room to make an offer to carmello which would sure up our sf spot for a while.
As of now the only other team to make him an offer in free agency is the nuggets.

        Thoughts?

well since the pistons are the only team i can be and get melo by trading i decided to use them for now. i made alot of trades and basically rebuild the whole team even the bench players.

          Starting line up

pg. rodrigue beaubois 7.7ppg, 0.7 rpg, 2.0 apg (just came in the starting lineup when he came over in the trade with jason terry.)

sg. rodney stucky 19.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.3 spg (moved to shooting guard since he plays better off the ball just like dwade do with miami)

sf. carmelo enthony 27.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.6spg

pf. serge ibaka 7.8 ppg, 7.8rpg, 0.7apg (was easy to get from the thunder and has excellent post defense)

          c. emeka okafor 8.8 ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.1apg, 0.7spg, 2.4 bpg

          Bench
6th man. Jason Terry ( scores easy and always opened when melo get double teamed)

7th. Chris Anderson ( makes the inside defense easy and has just as good inside defense as my starters)

8th. Renaldo Balkman (defensive stopper when he wants to be and he can handle most small forwards.)

          9th Terrico White

          10th. Sean Williams

          11th. Mike Harris

          12th. Sundiata Gaines

          Team stats.

PPG 101.3 ( number 9 in the league)
PAPG 86.0 ( number 1 in the league)
          FG % .476 ) number 2 in the league)
          3PT% 339 ( number 16 in the league)
RPG 46.2 ( numer 9 in the league)

            [7-1 TOR year 1/All-Star/82gm/10min]
Took Charlotte to school 103-76 and now on a 5 game win streak [All-Star might be a little too easy but i gotta play the whole season before i think about stepping up to Superstar]

Derozan is killin' it 24pt avg the last 4 games, and Bayless is dropping 12+ dimes a game. Anthony Randolph is doing just what i got him for 10pt,10reb/game. Bargs is a solid 15pt,10reb. Very down on Calderon who can't hit a shot to save his life [looking to trade him soon b/c Bayless is my starter from here on out and Calderon is grumbling on the bench]

            PG Bayless | Calderon
            SG Barbosa | Weems
SF Derozan | Donte Greene | Julian Wright | Peja | Kleiza
            PF A.Randolph | Amir Johnson | J.Dorsey
            C Bargnani | D.Anderson
            Lakers | Michigan | Dodgers

Just started an assocation with the Lakers and looking to add another scorer along side Kobe. I put Gasol in the trade finder and got a ton of deals. What do you think about these potential trades and are they good or not:

              Trade 1)

Gasol to Cavs for Jamison and their 1st rounder (have worst record)

              Trade 2)

Gasol and 2012 1st to Memphis for Rudy Gay and Xavier Henry

              Trade 3)

Gasol and Shannon Brown to Pacers for Granger and TJ Ford

              Trade 4)

Gasol and Matt bares to Golden State for Ellis and filler

So out of those trades which one looks most realistic? I know the lakers would never trade Gasol in real life but I want another scorer to help out Kobe. I am debating between trade 3 and trade 2.

              Thoughts?

none how about u keep Gasol, Gasol is a 20 point a nite scorer. You're trading 1 untouchable for everyone on that list besides TJ Ford & Jamison are untouchables.

jamison sucks and is old, and his shot is a bit hard to use and takes a long time to use. 1st rounders can get you a ton of deals though - you can get players with 4 or 5 star trade value with late 1st round picks, much less early ones. gay and henry are both great players. if you did this, i would try to make artest a 6th man, and trade him if he gets angry. starting gay and odom will let you run a lot and have fun. i dont think granger is much better than gay, and henry is definitely better than ford, and he has more value. ellis is fun to use but his 1 on 1 defense is not great, you could maybe start him at PG for lots of quick shots and perimeter scoring from him and bryant. but he has problems guarding a lot of good, big SGs like iguodala, wade, stephen jackson. i'd go with trade 2

The Heat are tied 3-3 going into Atlanta tonight for the 7th and deciding game for the right to play in the NBA Finals.

This has been an incredible series.

The San Antonio Spurs took out the Dallas Mavricks 4-3 and await the winner.

                      Warriors Association

This has been a fun team to mess around with. i traded curry right off the bat for brandon jennings and chris douglas-roberts, who is easy to use and underrated. i didnt like curry's shot release.

also traded biedrins and david lee to celtics for garnett and a 2nd rounder, and traded amundson and brandan wright to the cavs for hickson, who i traded to dallas for beaubois.

i play on HOF difficulty, 5 min quarters.

monta was averaging almost 20ppg and shooting almost 50% from three, but his defense is bad and he was VERY inconsistent (in 18 games he had gone for 3, 4, and 6 points but also 29 and 33), so i traded him for iguodala and a 1st round pick. this is my lineup right now:

                      jennings (80) / beaubois (70)

iguodala (85) / antoine wright (65) (signed for 1.3M, one year)

                      douglas-roberts (73) / marvin williams (68)

                      serge ibaka (78) / ekpe udoh (70)

                      garnett (83) / kurt thomas (68)

beaubois is almost better than jennings. i find his shot release easy to use, and he does all of the good things jennings does. so i was thinking of trading jennings, but his salary is so low that it is hard to get good offers for him. i was having problems with this lineup for a while:
                      PG - jennings
                      SG- ellis
                      SF - trevor ariza
                      PF - marion
                      C - garnett
because they couldnt guard anyone, especially good guards like deron williams, wade and kevin martin. also post PFs like millsap and duncan were killing me because marion is so short and skinny. with my lineup now, i play a lot of zone because all the starters except jennings and douglas-roberts are stellar defenders. record is 12-9 and 3-0 with current lineup. i have 2 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders in the draft coming up, but no picks after that.

                      thoughts??

Did you know you can alter anyone's shot release? Just sayin...Not many would trade Curry for Jennings.

yeah, but i dont like to screw with the players or edit them. i will change players' primary positions, but that's about it.

Decided to use my player on a clippers association, so my lineup is this

                              PG- Baron Davis
                              SG- Eric Gordon
                              SF- Stephen Barbosa (My Player-pointfoward)
                              PF- Blake Griffin
                              C- Deandre Jordan

Played the 1st game against the Portland, down by 29-20 in the first quarter, and up by 53-49 in the first half, it was a tight first half, but after a superb run by the clippers, they never looked back, their defense and only let Portland 27 points in the second half of a final score 110-76

                              Dallas Mavericks 2011

                                Thoughts?
I disagree with all 4 trades,

                                1. Jamison and 1st rounder for gasol

The moment you trade pau to the cavs they wont be last place team, theyll prolly start hickson and gasol in the same line up and you wont get that high of a draft pick.

Jamison is super old he has 2 years left and is on steep decline. He plays no defense and he just shoots around and does random ****.

The lakers lose a big man dominant scoring presence and it totally knocks off there championship chemistry.

                                2. Gasol and 1st round for rudy gay and Xavier Henry

Bad trade once again the lakers lose a big man which they need to compete with phsyical teams, yeah they lose a measley 1st rounder but still man,

Rudy gay would start on this team if that happened im assuming, but what about xavier henry. You already have shannon brown.

THe lakers also has 4 sf's to begin with, if you trade for rudy gay thats 5.
                                Walton, Artest, Ebanks, matt barnes.

What about the others? You expect them to be happy? Not enough playing time to go around.

                                3. Gasol + Shannon brown for Danny granger and Tj Ford

The pacers totally win on this. Your giving up way to much for 2 injury prone players. They get 2 scoring healthy option stars to join them for danny granger who is injury prone and tj ford who has attitude problems.

Its a bad trade, yeah youll get a pg in tj ford but then what you going to start him over fisher? Or is fisher gonna start over him and as ive said before you already have 4 sf's in your roster. Another log jam right there

                                4. Gasol + Barnes for Ellis and filler
Im iffy on this, ellis is showing signs of brilliance but he is in an offensive type of system. He does play sg, if you trade for him are you planning to move him into pg? Or a sixth man.

I still believe your giving to much up, You lose your star big man and a wing player for a star in the making and your team gets a lot smaller.

                                Overall Opinion
Lakers are my team, always has been and yes they do have cap problems and what not but dont take away the gasol kobe combo. That makes them winners with our without andrew bynum.

Use other options, Before i would have said trade odom, but he backs up the 4 and 5 very well so keep him.

Theres always ron artest, matt barnes, bynum (if believe hell get injured again), steve blake, luke walton

If i were you and you wanted another scoring option, invest in a point guard a scoring one. Doesnt have to be a star, You could go for players like cj watson, eric maynor, daniel gibson etc. Invest in them and develop them.

If you want to go in the same route lakers have been going. Look for a past first mentality pg like luke ridnour.
