Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

End of 2011-2012 season with the Houston Rockets in my Association (10 min quarters):

We went 34-48 and missed the playoffs big time. I play a good majority of these games so I know that I have to make a ton of changes in the offseason because the team just isn't that good to play with or sim with.

    MVP - Kevin Durant (OKC)
Rookie of the Year - Kemba Walker (Rockets. YES!!! He was awesome, averaged 14 points, 7 dimes, and 2 steals a game)

The Lakers (1) seed faced Boston (1) seed in the Finals and the Lakers beat the Celtics in 5 games. Kobe Bryant was the MVP of the finals (Kinda cool to see the Lakers and Celtics battling it out).

I know that I need new blood and I have two first round picks (6th and 17th) in the 2012 draft. Kemba Walker (the 2012 ROY) will be a bonafide star if I develop him right and spend training camp points on him. My starting tandem of Jamal Crawford and Shane Battier at SG and SF just didn't work this past season. Battier just can't create anything and Crawford is noticably losing quickness and playmaking ability. So I get rid of both in trades. After starting my mancrush Chase Budinger for the last half of the season, I clearly see that he is not a starting small forward instead a complimentary piece so I trade him too while he still has a ton of value. I also trade away Luis Scola. Basically, in return for all that and a little more, I get a 2013 first round pick, Dirk Nowitski (who's rated 81 and declining, but still good and only has two years left on that massive contract), and Roy Hibbert from Indiana (who's on the upswing and rated 80). Courtney Lee is SO ready to start it's ridiculous, he jumped from a 70 to a 75 and is 26. In the draft workouts, I fell in love with Tobias Harris (SF), Kyrie Irving (PG), Jordan Hamilton (SG), Michael Gilchrist (SF). According to the mock draft, I could possibly hope for Hamilton to drop to me at 6 and Harris was slotted in my 17th pick so I was set. Well the draft hits and Hamilton goes 3rd overall and Harris goes 4TH!!! I was pissed. He went 13 slots above his projected position in the mock draft so my draft was out of wack ALREADY. I need a small forward so I took Quincy Miller with the 6th pick and I need a good guard prospect so I took Klay Thompson with the 17th pick. BTW, Austin Rivers was the #1 pick.

Other notes: Chris Paul went to the Cavaliers which makes no sense hahaha. Especially when they already just signed Aaron Brooks the year before. Every other notable possible free agent (Derrick Rose, etc...) all signed long term deals with their teams or had their options picked up.

My basic lineup at the start of 2012 looks like this:

PG- Kemba Walker, PG - 72 rating
SG - Courtney Lee, SG - 75 rating
SF - Quincy Miller, SF - 78 rating
PF - Dirk Nowitski, PF - 81 rating
    C - Roy Hibbert, C - 80 rating
Bench PG - Jason Kidd, PG (Signed to a 1 yr/ 3 million dollar deal in the offseason) - 69 rating
Bench SG - Klay Thompson, 73 rating
Bench SF - Richard Jefferson, 70 rating (got in one of my trades)
Bench PF - Jeremy Tyler, 64 rating (one of my projects from 2011 draft)
    Bench C - Jonas Valaunicas (2nd round pick in 2012) - 68 rating

Thru 10 games I'm 7-3 and I even have a win over the champion Lakers. I LOVE this team so far. We can definitely finally make some noise this time. Kemba Walker is building on his ROY 2011 and is averaging 19 points and 8 assists. Courtney Lee is a MONSTER shooter and dunker and is averaging 27 points a game. Talk about breakout and good decision by me hahaha. Miller is showing way more promise than Budinger ever did, good 3pt shooter and dynamic enough to create his own shot, also good on the boards, MASSIVE steal. Dirk is a bit disappointing but I think I'm still figuring out his shot. He's had a couple 15/10 games. Hibbert is exactly what I want for the franchise, a shot blocker with a mid range shot. He's averaging 12 points and 8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks a game. He's very consistent. Bench guys: Kidd is a good backup at this point. Klay Thompson is a SHOOTER from all ranges. Not sure if he can start one day though. Jefferson is pretty decent and can get to the hole. This is the year I get to the playoffs.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

24-15 with the New York Knicks, and currently the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference. I'm 4 games behind the Celtics for the division lead, which I held for ONE game until I hit a 6 game skid where Amare was hurt. I'm currently on a 3 game skid and playing the Sacremento Kings, which should be a win depending on if my team can keep it together.

Right now Felton is averaging 13.8 pts 8 assist, Landry Fields is averaging 18 pts 6 rebs, and Amare is averaging 27.6 pts and 10 rebs.

I've got Mozgov starting at center, and he's really hit or miss. He has no post game, but I like that he can shoot the 3 and his size makes him nice for rebounding. Wilson Chandler is starting at SF over Gallinari, since I can't drive to the basket for crap with Danilo.

I'm working on a package to get Melo, depending on how the rest of my road trip goes. If we can stop this losing streak and start beating the best teams in the League, then I'll hold off, but we've been getting KILLED by the elite teams and barely hanging on against the mediocre teams.

I won so many games because I dominated all the bottom feeders at the beginning of the season, but now I can barely get wins against the top competition.

In my 30-team Association, the Bulls have been depleted with injuries too. The quantity may not be there, but the quality is. Rose is out 6-8 weeks and Deng is out 4-6 weeks (or Rose 4-6 and Deng 6-8). This is only 4 games into the season!

These were simmed games. I have adjusted injury sliders and get good results (realistic injuries). Durability at 44, Fatigue Rate at 46, Injury Frequency at 49 or 50 (can't remember), and Injury Severity at 51. With this, I feel they are VERY realistic. I'll get 2-3 games in a row where injuries occur (some for me, some CPU), but also I'll have like 10-15 games in a row with no injuries.

I shopped Jeff Green around. Looking at the rumor mill Evan Turner and Dennis Rodman were available but I couldn't get anything done.

Tried the trade finder and thought this was hilarious:

            Here's the All-Stars including a HUGE snub...

So despite being 3rd in MVP voting and 2nd in DPotY,all around highlight reel Josh Smith is NOT an All-Star. He missed 2 weeks but still? No Wade or Bosh either. Smith is listed as a SF instead of PF but still...

Decided to help out the Clips a bit. Thought they'd be doing well in the east but they're not. So I got rid of BDiddy for an expiring while swapping my next year pick.

Due to previous swapping I'm going to have a high pick in this upcoming draft. Green will just be let go so I'll need another big. Vesely,Kanter or Sullinger?

I just started one with the knicks and made some trades and a free agent pickup

              Felton/douglas
              Fields/corey brewer/bill walker
              Gallinari/pietrus
              Amare /sean williams
              Damian blair/turiaf

I also have the twolves 1st round pick.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I'm thinking I'm going to restart my 2nd season from the save file I have that puts me in the offseason of season 1.

                Too many trades...

Looking back I should've moved Igoudala to someone in the Western Conf and not the Nets, and I should've moved Granger to someone like the Mavericks in a 3-team deal that brought cap relief to Indiana.

I traded Melo to the Bulls but don't really like what was done to Denver's make up in return; having to take on Luol Deng and Ben Gordon to make the deal go through.

Since Artest was unhappy in LA I had moved him to Milwaukee in exchange for Corey Maggette, but the Lakers are so cap strapped now as a result of this deal that I can't get them anything because they're over the hard cap.

Hopefully my save is at the beginning of the off-season...otherwise I might just restart a new association.

Well i now sit in the #7 spot with 2 games to go. I've notice the games have gotten tougher after the all-star break. I'm 4 up on PHI for #7 but i'm only 1 back of NYK for #6, so i need to win these next 2 which happen to be against #3 MIL and #1 MIA. Got my work cut out for me. Not looking forward to being #7 b/c BOS is #2 and even though i split the season with them i fear they will be tougher in the playoffs.

I am struggling. I am 4-9 now. I just lost to the Bucks @ Home by 20+ and almost went insane. I had enough of Luis Scola. He is the worst 80 something ovr on the game. I dealt him to Portland for their sophisticated Big Man Greg Odin.

My next game was @ the Lakers, and I controlled Ods and Yao on defense the entire game. OMG. Nothing in the paint comes easy against me. I actually held a team in the low 80s for once. I can now get Jason Thompson more minutes, and cut back on Yao's. He's down to 30, and Ods has about 20, w/ Thompson low 30s and Patterson around 15.

Aaron Brooks sucks if he's not scoring. He's a lousy point guard, and his defense is bad at best.

I usually try to do a rebuilding franchise but all the trades Orlando made earlier this year prompted me to start an association with them. This was by far the best I've ever done in a single season playing 3/4 of the games and simming a 1/4.

                            1st in NBA with a 68-14 record.

                            Season transactions:
11/5 - sent Daniel Orton to the D-league
                            12/9 - waived Jason Williams
2/14 - traded Chris Duhon to Spurs for Tiago Splitter & '11 2nd round pick
2/14 - traded Quentin Richardson & Malik Allen to Kings for Omri Casspi, Luther Head & Darnell Jackson

All-Star Selections : Dwight Howard (starter) and Hedo Turkoglu

                            Year End Awards
NBA MVP - Lebron James (MIA)
Defensive Player - Dwight Howard (ORL)
                            Rookie - John Wall (WAS)
Sixth Man - JJ Hickson (CLE)
Most Improved - Russell Westbrook (OKC)
Coach of the Year - Stan Van Gundy (ORL)

Dwight Howard was also on the All-NBA 1st Team and All-Defensive 1st Team

                            Who had the best seasons?
Dwight Howard's stat line for the year was 25.6 PPG, 13 RPG, 1.6 APG, 0.9 SPG and 2.6 BPG. He led the league in Efficency at 31.9.

JJ Redick led the NBA in True Shooting % at .668. JJ averaged 11.8 PPG off the bench in 23.6 minutes per game.

Gilbert Arenas was second most of the year in the Sixth Man Award with 14.6 PPG and 6.1 APG in 26 MPG. The numbers are a bit inflated because Jameer Nelson missed 12 games due to injury and was hurt for another 8 or so. Gilbert started those 20 games and played most of them.

Hedo Turkoglu had a very well rounded season back in Orlando. 12.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 5.3 APG and 1.3 SPG. He also shot .496 from downtown.

The playoffs are ongoing. I swept Charlotte easily in the first round but Turkoglu hurt his back. The Conference Semi-Finals ended up being Orlando vs Chicago and Boston vs Miami in the East and Dallas vs Denver and Lakers vs Thunder in the West. I'll do another update when the playoffs are over.
