Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

First time posting about my association but I started a 29 gamer after the Carmelo trade and I took control of my Knickerbockers. Played all 29 games but only on 5 minute quarters so the scores ended up more like high school games.

I left most of the lineup/roster alone with the exception of trading roger mason for a 2nd rd pick because he was complaining about PT and I also made a trade for Jefferies because I needed another big to spell Amare and Turiaf.

I finished the regular season as the 1 seed in the East at 20-9 and Carmelo took home the MVP as I ran most of the offense through him. Amare ended up with defensive player of the year as he had a tremendous number of blocks and steals. Not to mention his rebounding. Landry Fields was in the running for rookie of the year but it went to John Wall.

That being said, we drew the Wizards in the first round of the playoffs. Fell behind in game one as Wall was going off but at the half I switched my defensive assignments because I didn't feel Billups was fast enough to keep up with Wall and he was blowing right by him. I put Fields on Wall and he shut him down in the second half (0 points). We upped the offensive tempo and ball pressure and ended up pulling away in the 4th.

Game two, I started Fields on Wall and once again, he was great defensively. I usually control the defender guarding the PG and every time Wall tried to drive, I was able to stay in front of him with Fields. Wall finished with 2 points and we blew them out for the 2-0 series lead.

Game 3 was a different story, Wall adjusted and became an assist machine. As I became more worried about his passing, he started to score a bit and ended up player of the game hitting a three with 3.0 seconds left on the clock to put the Wizards up 1. I took the timeout to move the ball up court and ran an inbound play for Melo but Billups intercepted the pass, ran into the screen and shot an off balanced 15 footer that clanked off the front rim. Wizards win the game. Series at 2-1 Knicks.

Can't wait to play the next game. I know one thing for sure, I want Chris Paul at PG. Billups is showing his age. I'm trying to decide how to go about it. I could pick up Bilups option next year and maybe draft a PG to split time with him until Paul becomes a FA (I'm not a fan of Toney Douglas) or I could pick up the option and try to trade him, Douglas and my picks for Paul. I'm sure it would probably take a little more but I could try to find the right combo to make it work.

The other issue I have is I don't feel I have a solid scorer off the bench and when Landry and Melo are sitting, I have a tough time scoring. Any thoughts on who I could target in the draft as a sixth man either late 1st or early second round? I also need to fill a bit more of the hole that Jefferies is temporarily plugging. I was looking at Fab Melo in the draft. Anyone draft him and see how he plays? I don't need huge inside scoring from him but I'd like him to develop into a solid defensive/rebounding presence inside. Or I could target someone in FA keeping in mind that eventually I want Paul and need to keep some cap room free.

Thanks for reading, I'll try to update as I progress through the playoffs and into the off season.

      Awesome read!

Good luck trying to get Chris Paul via Free Agency because it's a 100% guarantee that he re-signs with the Hornets because his team loyalty is very high in the game.

As for Fab Melo, your going to have to develop his inside game and his defensive game.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

So when I last wrote, my Knicks were up 2-1 in the opening playoff series and Landry Fields had been able to contain John Wall. Well in games 4 and 5, the Wizards tried to use their size advantage and pounded the ball inside. I used up my fouls with Turiaf and Jefferies in both games and Amare was solid once again defensively.

Game 4 stayed close most of the way as Carmelo really wasn't hitting his shots. This is when Landry Fields proved that he wasn't going to just help this team on Defense this series, he scored 8 consecutive points at one point in the 4th quarter and really sealed the deal giving New York the momentum going home up 3-1 in the series.

Game 5 found Melo shooting the lights out again but also kicking to Fields for threes 4 separate times during the game and Landry was money. I don't play well offensively with guys like Amare but I value them greatly inside on defense so finding this one-two punch with Melo and Fields helped the Knicks pull away and win the deciding game 5 by 10 points.

I had to wait for the winner of the Bulls Bucks series and the Bulls pulled it out in 6. I figured I'd put Fields on Rose for the same reasons I deployed that strategy on Wall. Big Problem, Derrick Rose is way better than John Wall. I got torched in the first quarter but was able to pull within one at the half riding Carmelo and Fields seems to now be able to create his own shots.

The Bulls pulled out on a 14-7 run to start the 3rd and then we exchanged baskets for several trips down the floor. The playoff intensity was incredible as MSG was rocking. Going into the 4th I nearly matched the Bulls start to the 3rd and pulled even at one point but apparently coming out of a time out, the Bulls coach changed game plans and they started jacking up threes and they were hitting them. They hit one with 1:53 remaining that put them up 9 and I said out loud, "game over"

Much to my surprise, we rallied back. Melo hit a three, Amare had a big block and then Fields was left wide open in the corner on a Melo drive, kicked to him for the triple and all of a sudden we're back in it. Billups came up with a steal and transitioned for three to tie it up with 8 ticks left on the clock. The bulls went to Rose and my Defense wasn't able to get around the screen, he had an open layup to the hoop but Rony Turiaf came in and got a hand in his face, the shot went up and bounced off the back iron, almost just sat on the back of the rim for a second and rolled out. We're heading to OT.

I won the tip but promptly turned it over and the Bulls capitalized with a breakaway dunk by Boozer. I responded with one of my own with Amare. The OT continued fast paced up and down the court exchanging buckets until the 14 second mark when I called a time out all ties up. I in-bounded to Melo and called an Iso, he took his defender off the dribble and laid it in for the lead. Bulls take a timeout and get the ball in to Deng who drives the lane, kicks to Rose with about 3 seconds left he is at least 3 steps behind the 3 point line but wide open so he jacks it up and misses. Turiaf grabs the board and the Knicks lead the series 1-0.

I still can't understand why Deng didn't take the shot or why Rose didn't take a dribble or two in before taking the jumper but I am officially hooked on this game, the heroics, the strategy, the atmosphere. I'm all jacked up as if I'm playing myself. I think Game 2 will have to wait until tomorrow as I have to get some rest after a long day.

For those interested, the Heat are up 1-0 on the Celtics in the other Eastern Semi and it's SA 1-0 over PHX and Dal 1-0 over NO in the West. If this continues to get harder as I go, I can't imagine getting to the finals. This Bulls series will probably take several years off my life.

I just blew a 16 point lead at home to the Bucks and I am now 1-4. Bucks were turning the ball over left and right with a totlal of 19 turnovers but toward the end of the 3rd qtr they started pulling it together while my team fell apart. Even my virtual Pacers cant keep a lead, lol.

Sick update OG. Your team looks like their producing as a whole, there isn't one guy who dominates for you. Which can be a good thing. Hopefully you can finish strong and avoid playing Miami in the first round.

Whew after switching from team to team to team I have finally made a home in Washington with John Wall and company. Ready to turn this team around and build a contender, Wall/McGee/Blatche are good building blocks.

This season's goals: improve record and make playoffs
Turn them around from the disaster of a season last year

Played the first game of the season against the Orlando Magic. 1st qtr was very tough as Dwight Howard dominated the paint with his defense. JRich was shooting lights out from beyond the arc finishing the game with 35 pts. 2nd qtr John Wall figured out the Magic's defensive scheme and started getting comfortable in his first game in the NBA. The Wizards as a whole started to drive the lane and get several of the Magics players in foul trouble especially Dwight. Halftime the Magic led by 3. The 2nd half was the John Wall show, showing off his arsenal of crossovers, change of speed and court vision. He finished with 30 pts, 4 rbs, 9 asts.

Downside of the game was seeing Rashard Lewis injured within the first minute of the game with a Lower Back Strain out for 2-4 weeks.

Upside of the game was seeing that this team is very easy to use.
Should be a great season ------- Welcome to the John Wall Show

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Finally found the time to start up an Association (being in college takes up A LOT of your time, haha.) Even though I'm a huge Kobe Bryant fan I decided to run with Orlando.

3-0 now with double digit wins against Washington and Miami (Wade was hurt and disappeared in the second half.) New York took me to the limit but I was able to pull off a 100-91 win against them. Dwight leads the league in scoring averaging 32.5 a game. I'd post more stats but I'm away from my PS3 right now.

So far J-Rich and Howard have been a great 1-2 punch for me. This is my rotation as of now:

                    PG- Nelson
                    SG- Arenas
                    SF- J. Richardson
                    PF- Turkoglu
                    C - Howard

                    Bench

                    Bass
                    Q.Richardson
                    Duhon
                    Redick
                    Anderson

I have a solid rotation of Gilbert and Jameer at the point throughout my games with Bass coming off the bench when I want more of a bruiser down low. Still too early to make any deals IMO but I kind of want to move either Jameer or Gilbert for a true power forward at some point. Jameer has been the better true point guard for me, but Gilbert has been more of the quick scoring threat I need when my other guys aren't hitting shots. He is TERRIBLY streaky though (and that contract....OUCH.)
I WOULD TRADE EVERY GAME I OWN JUST TO HAVE A PERFECT MADDEN.....

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Finally started my Pistons Association today. I promptly tore the team apart. I just couldn't go through the season with those guys. After much use of the trade finder feature, I have a young, horrible team (30, 30, 30). Even though we're bar none the worst in the league and I've lost my first two games by like a combined 50 points, we're young and we have plenty of cap space for the off season. Here's my current lineup.

                      Starters:
C -Yao Ming (only a year remaining on his contract): 74 OVR
                      PF - M. Ferrell (CAP): 65 OVR
SF - Austin Daye (One of the few guys I kept) 70 OVR
                      SG - T. Robinson (CAP) 75 OVR
                      PG - E. Brown (CAP) 69 OVR

                      Bench:
                      Tyler Hansbrough: 70 OVR
                      Greg Monroe: 68 OVR
Jonas Jerebko: 60 OVR (Injured right now)
                      Terrico White: 65 OVR
                      Shaun Livingston: 65 OVR
                      Hasheem Thabeet: 63 OVR
                      Jeff Foster: 65 OVR
                      Dajuan Summers: 58 OVR

My next order of business is to get rid of Yao Ming but I didn't like what I saw in the Trade Finder. Dude kinda sucks. Low post game is nice, but he's always tired so I can only play him like 15 minutes a game. Plus, he doesn't rebound well. How a giant fails to rebounds is beyond me, but I noticed that when he jumps for boards, he doesn't reach for the ball. It'll just end up going through his legs are something while he stands there with a dumb look on his face.

Also, need to find some good sliders. I am using Purist's right now but they make professionals unable to make simple passes. Also noticing players boxing out for rebounds but not going for the ball. I'm on the 360 if anyone has suggestions for some good ones.

So here is the deal I started a Suns Association after the trade deadline and i got most of the correct picks to the teams as well before starting. The first season I simmed up to a week after the trade deadline and played all the games on there with Superstar difficulty sim sliders.

I was able to get the 8th seed in the playoffs and made quite a run from there. I beat the 1st seed Dallas 4-2 mainly because they were missing Dirk throughout the whole series. Next up i had to face the Carmelo-less Nuggets and beat them by 5 in Game 7. Next up I had to take on the 3rd seed Spurs in the WCF where I was able to take them to game 7 in san antonio where they properly disposed of me by 15. They went on to lose to the Boston Celtics 4-2 with Rondo being the MVP.

I'm now in my second season my team is made up of:

PG: Nash, Aaron Brooks signed to extension as he was 6th man of the yr avg. 20 ppg
SG: Vince Carter signed him on for another year, just put up 43 in a loss to the Kyrie Irving led Jazz
SF: Grant Hill, Jared Dudley, Childress
PF: Channing Frye, Donatas Motiejunas(Drafted 16 ovr), Van Vesely (drafted 24 ovr)
C: Gortat, Robin Lopez, Garrett Siler

I'm 0-2 coming off of consecutive 10+ point losses. I've tried going
                        PG:Nash
                        SG:Brooks
                        SF:VC
                        PF:Frye
                        C:Gortat
im doing this mainly cause Hill can't play a whole game and be effective and my 2 best players are Nash and Brooks. I'm easily outsized every game i play as Brooks is 6'0 as a SG. I went into trade finder to see what i could get for Brooks and my best two offers are
                        76ers give:
                        Andre Iggy ovr 84 B+Pot SG 27 2 yr 28.25M (UNHAPPY 0 morale)
                        Jodie Meeks ovr 64 pot D+ SG 24 1 yr 884K
                        for
                        Aaron Brooks ovr 79 B PG 26 2 yr 22.95M
                        Donatas Motiejunas 69 B PF 21 2 yr 2.97M

                        OR
                        I give up
                        Aaron Brooks ovr 79 B PG 26 2 yr 22.95M
                        Jared Dudley ovr 72 B- SF 27 4 yr 17.00M

Lakers( Both 0 morale Lakers team chemistry way down)
                        Lamar Odom ovr 77 PF 31 1 yr 8.90M
                        Ron Artest ovr 74 SF 31 1 yr 6.79M

I'm leaning towards the Laker deal mainly because I will get to keep VC at SG where he plays best for me, as well as a lockdown defender is Artest, and a versitle big man who can run the floor while also freeing up a ton of CAP for next years free agency in which hopefully D.WILL CP3, and D12 are all a part of. I also have big contracts coming off the books by way of Nash +10M contract and VCs 8M.

What do you think i should do?

                          Sonic/10-0

Just bumped the diffculty up to HOF since I was 9-0 on Superstar

Just played the Bobcats and struggled horribly for most the game. I was shooting 53% for most the game but for some reason I couldn't build a lead even though they were shooting 46% and 30% from 3pt range. In the 4th they actually had a lead going into crunch time until Bledsoe hit a huge 3 to give me the lead then got a steal and fouled leading to a 4 point lead and sealed the win (103-100) Bledsoe led the team with 20 points, 10 assist and 2 steals

Sadly, I lost my leading scorer and best defender Wesley Johnson(25.3ppg) on a freaking ball that bounced over the backboard and was out of bounds that he jumped for so he's gone for 2-4 weeks with a severe ankle sprain but hopefully Nick Young or Terrance Jones can step in and start and play well enough to maintain this high level of play

In my second year with the NBA Champion Miami Heat.

Finished my second year 55-27 as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. I ended up simming 35 games out of 82 after playing all 82 in my first year. Wanted to get to another post season a little sooner as the I am now splitting time between 2K11 and the Show 11 as well as my non sports game selection (3 game rotation).

Starting lineup in the post season is:

                            PG - Chalmers
                            SG - Wade
                            SF - Lebron
                            PF - Bosh
                            C - Timmerman (rookie)

Tyson Chandler sprained his foot in the last game of the season and is out for 2 weeks so the rookie Mo Timmerman is filling in and actually playing well. Joel Anthony is coming off the bench.

In game one vs the Nets I ran them off the court in a 25 point blowout. But in game two the Nets pulled out a huge upset winning 103-100 on a Vince Carter (yep he is back with the Nets again) 3 at the buzzer!

                            Major shocker.

So the Heat head back to New Jersey tied 1-1.

Lebron lost the MVP race to Durant.

Chris Bosh upped his scoring average in year two at 19.5 points a game from 17 PPG in year one.

                            Dwayne Wade averaged 23.5 PPG

Lebron was a beast again leading the team in scoring and assists and also averaged 8 boards a game. I thought he was robbed and should have been the MVP over Durant. In year one he lost it to Kobe.

But all that matters is the rings and we are going for our second title.

                              Philadelphia 76ers Association Update
                              Year 1

Well, after being 36-36, i went 9-1 after losing a horrible game against the Kings 133-84, i know it was horrible, i had to get used to everyone shot release and i was still getting used to the team offense / defense.

At the end of the season, the playoffs started here's the match-ups.

                              #1 Miami Heat (62-20) vs #8 Milwaukee Bucks (41-41)
                              #2 Orlando Magic (56-20) vs #7 Philadelphia 76ers (45-37)
#3 Boston Celtics (54-28) vs #6 New York Knicks (50-32)
                              #4 Chicago Bulls (51-31) vs #5 Atlanta Hawks (54-28)

Here are the East match-ups, we played the Magic, which is scary. I don't think my team can stop Howard down on the low block, it will be a challenge.

#1 San Antonio Spurs (56-26) vs #8 Los Angeles Clippers (43-38)
#2 Los Angeles Lakers (55-27) vs #7 Dallas Mavericks (44-38)
#3 Portland Trail Blazers (52-30) vs #6 Memphis Grizzlies (44-38)
#4 Phoenix Suns (45-37) vs #5 Golden State Warriors (45-37)

Great match-ups, Suns vs Warriors could be something special, fast paced offense is great to watch. I got the Lakers over Suns, Spurs over Clippers, and Warriors over Suns and Blazers over Grizzlies.
