Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Haven't updated here for a while, but here goes nothing. I just finished my third season with a third straight championship with my Miami Heat. I played all 82 games myself, with no simulation whatsoever and 12 minute quarters for a third straight season and all of the playoff games as well. In the first season, LeBron James got the Finals MVP, in the second season Dwyane Wade got Finals MVP, and for the third season, LeBron James captured a second Finals MVP as my Miami Heat swept the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. It was a tight race to the finish in the first 3 games with Game 1 going to overtime, and Game's 2 and 3 going down to the final few possessions as I pulled out each one. In Game 4 I was up by double digits going into the fourth quarter and expanded on the lead, with me eventually clinching the NBA Championship with a 24 point win on their home floor. It was a very tough fought series, but once again I relied on my closing lineup of Dwyane Wade, Mike Miller, LeBron James, Udonis Haslem, and Chris Bosh to finish the job in each game and they came through in a big way.

I'm going into the off-season now and because I traded free agents I had previously signed in players like Andre Miller, Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler, Matt Barnes as they didn't fit my system (none of which stayed around to win a championship as I was no good with them), I acquired the #2, #4, and #21 picks in the NBA Draft. In the first two seasons, I just used randomly generated draft classes, but this year I went with the draft class of 2011 in real life, even though in my association mode it's now in year 2013. So, I have two of the top 4 picks, but I might just trade down to try to acquire 3 young lottery players. I think in this draft I'm going to go after this limited list of prospects in Kemba Walker, Bismack Biyombo, Tristian Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morries, Markieef Morris, Jimmer Fredette, Kenneth Faried, Reggie Jackson, Norris Cole, and Enes Kanter as I think they will all fit my system. No idea what free agents I'm going to try to get but that is priority number two in this off-season.

I will update again when my off-season has been completed. Wish me luck.

Using the Cavs and i moved all the large contracts(Jamison and Davis). Gonna rebuild through the draft. Won the draft lottery and will be picking 1st and 9th.

We made the play-offs and lost to the Spurs. I ended up with a late 1st round pick so I drafted Reggie Jackson, just like in real life. I then swapped the 2nd rounder for a 2012 2nd round pick to save cap space.

          Off-season moves:

Moved Westbrook to SG- bumped his rating to 90 overall
Made Nate Robinson the starting PG

This left me with around 8 million to devote to Free Agents.

Signed SG Marcus Thorton to 1yr/8.35mill deal
Signed SF Alonzo Gee to 1 yr/5.76mill deal (MLE)

I am currently the overall rated #1 team coming into season 2. This is my lineup

PG: Nate Robinson, Reggie Jackson, Eric Maynor, Royal Ivey

          SF: Kevin Durant, Alonzo Gee
          PF: Serge Ibaka,

I am really deep but following the first season where Westbrook and KD stayed injured enough to both miss the All-Star game( KD had a broken Jaw!) dept is probably a good thing.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions for improvements? I am currently the 1st overall, 2nd overall defense, and 1st overall offense. I have only played one game(8min/HOF/default_sliders) and blasted the Pistons at home. KD had 42 and Westbrook had 26 all in the 1st half. This team is going places.

Hey man that's good start for sure I think you def need to trade some of your PGs and SGs though for either a bigger PF or a C. Also have u ever thought about giving Harden a try at the 1 and moving Nate?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Completed the off-season and my team now looks like this, with minutes they should expect each game in parentheses.

              Starting Line-Up:

              PG: Mario Chalmers (18)
              SG: Dwyane Wade (36)
              SF: LeBron James (36)
              PF: Chris Bosh (36)
              C: Dexter Pittman (18)

              Bench:

              PG: Kemba Walker (rookie) (18)
              PG: Jimmer Fredette (rookie) (18)
              SG: Mike Miller (18)
              SF: Marcus Morris (rookie) (12)
              PF: Markieef Morris (rookie) (12)
              PF: Udonis Haslem (18)
              C: Joel Anthony (0)

              Inactive List:

              PG: Eddie House
              SF: James Jones
              C: Jeremy Tyler (rookie)

I got the five rookies by trading my picks (#2, #4, #21) for other picks (#5, #6, #7, #19). I selected Kemba Walker with the #5 pick as I had a huge deficit in scoring at PG, then at #6 realized I probably needed a tall, scoring big guy, so I picked up Markieef Morris, and at #7 I just saw The Jimmer there and thought why not, it couldn't hurt. If it doesn't work out with his bad defense I can just ship him out later on for someone else. I now have an 11-man rotation, and as I play through my fourth season in this Miami Heat association, I will need to cut it down to an 8 or 9 man rotation, all depending on who does well.

Oh, and just in case you haven't read my earlier posts, I used the 2011 draft class in the year of 2013 in my association, as I just used randomly generated rookies in the previous seasons. Also, I got the picks by trading free agents I signed like Tyson Chandler, Jason Terry, Matt Barnes, Andre Miller, Taj Gibson, and all of my picks and future picks as well as an assortment of other players.

I like the way my team is now constructed and I feel it will be unstoppable once the playoffs roll around again. I probably wouldn't have made such drastic changes but the Bulls and Knicks got so much more incredibly deep. Here are their rosters, that I can remember off of the top of my head, for good measure.

              Bulls:

              Starting Line-Up:

              PG: Derrick Rose
              SG: Marcus Thornton
              SF: Chris Singleton (rookie)
              PF: Carlos Boozer
              C: Joakim Noah

              Bench:

PG: Kyrie Irving (they traded #9 pick plus Deng for this pick, then drafted him)
              SG: Thabo Sefolosha

              Knicks:

              Starting Line-Up:

              PG: Chris Paul
              SG: Landry Fields
              SF: Carmelo Anthony
              PF: Amar'e Stoudemire
              C: Serge Ibaka

              Bench:

              PG: Kirk Hinrich
              SG: Stephen Jackson
              SG: Vince Carter
              SF: Matt Barnes
              PF: Antwan Jamison
              C: Emeka Okafor

They had some other decent players too but none really worth mentioning.

Anyways, I will update about 20 games into the season, so keep a lookout if you care enough to read my post(s).

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

omg what gives, my team just cant hack it on here, lost 3 in a row, now 2-4 and lost back to back games to the bobcats and wizards, the bobcat game was the play first half sim 2nd half and they blew me away in the 2nd qtr, 33-14 and i couldnt recover enough losing 98-94. there is always one bad quarter. and then i was thinking ok im back home against the Wizards, there rated 72 and iam 93ish area, i hoopscasted this game, But John Wall was a beast and ofcourse we left our game in the locker room at half, we only scored 35 in the 2nd half i believe, somewhere around there. Iam not on the PS3 right now.

And hoopscast loves giving out alot of fouls early but then it kinda levels out. Wizards had 15 count it 15 free throw attempts in the 1rst quarter. No not the first half but the First quarter and wow oden fouled out in 11 freaking minutes, i sat him most of the first half and 3rd quarter and then i was like ok ill bring him in, see how long he goes on 5 fouls. and bam 30 seconds into the sim, he is fouled out, my god... but ya again my team should not be losing these games, 8 times outta 10 we should be winning i mean my team is rated over 20 more then the wizards and was about 10 better then the Bobcats. Do i really need to go back to simming the full game right away, that gets boring, but i think my teams record is better when i do that..

I decided to actually get rid of Jimmer Fredette as I wouldn't be able to play my other guards as much as I would have liked to. My rotation is now looking like this, with the minutes they should expect each game in parentheses.

                        Starting Line-Up:

                        PG: Mario Chalmers (24)
                        SG: Dwyane Wade (36)
                        SF: LeBron James (36)
                        PF: Chris Bosh (36)
                        C: Dexter Pittman (18)

                        Bench:

Sixth Man; PG: Kemba Walker (24) (rookie)
Role Player; SG: Mike Miller (18)
Role Player; PF: Udonis Haslem (18)
Role Player; C: Joel Anthony (15)
Prospect; PF: Markieef Morris (15) (rookie)
Prospect; SF: Marcus Morris (0) (rookie)
Bench Warmer; PG: Eddie House (0)

                        Inactive List:

Prospect; SG: Bojan Bogdanovic (0) (rookie)
Bench Warmer; SF: James Jones (0)
Bench Warmer; C: Jeremy Tyler (0) (rookie)

I won my first game of the season by 24 against the Magic, who lost Dwight Howard to free agency before my last season of this Miami Heat association. I was horrible in the first half, as I couldn't shoot very well with the new guys and didn't know how the offense would run exactly and I trailed by 2 at the half in a high scoring game, but I figured it out and tried not to do too much with the rookies and my Big 3 took over the game in the second half as I pulled away in the 4th quarter to start the season 1-0. I will update again when I am at least 20 games into the season. Until then.

Took the team and addressed the size issue. We were really deep in the back court so I decided to move some assets to strengthen the team overall.

                          Trade 1:

Toronto gets: Thabo Sefaloshia, '13 1st round OKC
                          OKC gets: Amir Johnson

Thoughts on this trade? It really strengthens me at the PF slot with only Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison on the dept chart. Hated to give up the 1st rounder but I will be a title contender for years so that pick is basicly a 25th pick or less.

                          Trade 2:

Bucks get: Dequan Cooke, '12 2nd round Minnesota, '12 2nd round OKC
OKC gets: Luc Richard Mbah a Moute(3 year/6.3 mill )

Thoughts? Realistic enough? They wanted to go for the trade for only the T-Wolves pick. I threw in mine because I was getting the far better player. I held onto my 1st rounder because I feel like Mbah a Moute would not be worth that. Plus Cooke is an expiring contract( a whole 1.3mill lol) so that plus 2 picks seemed realistic enough. This was HUGE for my team though because Mbah a Moute plays both SF and PF well and that addresses the biggest weakness in my roster.

                          New lineup:

PG: Nate Robinson, Reggie Jackson, Eric Maynor, Royal Ivey
SG: Russel Westbrook, James Harden, Marcus Thorton
SF: Kevin Durant, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Alonzo Gee
                          PF: Serge Ibaka, Nick Collison
                          C: Kendrick Perkins, Cole Aldrich

I am pretty pumped. We are still rated #1 overall and I have 20+ mill this off season to re-sign both Westbrook and Robinson( both very loyal! ) and bring in a 1st rounder. This team has a solid chance this year and will be back next year just as strong.

Any thoughts on this roster? Suggestions? Comments? I am in love with this squad so Cleavland may have to wait for awhile. Just started game 3 when the controller died so it will have to be tomorow before I can finish it. Portland's in town and the score is 0-0 with 7:10 on the clock lol.

Any OKC users had problems resigning Westbrook or Robinson in the past? They both are very loyal and say they want to resign currently. Thanks!

for the 2nd time i started a kings association... simulated the the first two years cause i want to pair cp3 with evans & cousins..after two straight horrible losing seasons i ended up signing paul in free agency to a 5yr $100 mill contract, traded garcia & a 1st round pick for paul george (also signed troy murphy, shawn livingston & ilyasova in free agency).. right now in the 3rd year im playing every game and stand at 7w-2L... my team is as follows: pg-paul, livingston , buckner(cpu generated rookie picked 6th ovr after year 1), sg- evans, sf- george, casspi, ilyasova (6th man plays both foward spots) pf- thompson, murphy, C- cousins , whiteside... after 9 games the team is 15th ranked D, 1st ranked O, and 5th overall... i need a 3pt sniper badly so im wondering who i can grab, any suggestions?

I just started a fantasy draft with the Dallas Mavericks picked first and my lineup is stacked defensively:

                              PG - hinrich/george hill
                              SG - eric gordon/ affalo/ sepalosha
                              SF - mbah a moute/ balkman
                              PF - josh smith/ scola
                              C - howard/ A. Gray/ Zaza P

mbah a moute can play 1-4 defensively and through the first couple games of the season he has been incredible defensively (steals, shot contests, deflections)

Howard and Josh Smith just totally dominate the paint, shots get sent back left and right with these two guys on the court and they are both beasts on the boards which helps finish out those great defensive possesions. Josh Smith is also a freaking stat sheet stuffer, last game he had 26pts 13reb, 4ast, 1stl & 2blks, Dwight had 17pts (dude gets doubled as soon as he touches the ball, it's crazy) 17reb, 3ast and 4blks.

Hinrich gives me a pure point. I don't rely on him to score much, just pass, play great perimeter D and if Howard gets doubled he can hit the stand still open 3. Then off the bench I get more of a scoring punch/speed with my second unit in G. Hill.

                              E. Gordon give me another scoring option in the starting lineup and he is backed up with great perimeter defenders in affalo and sephalosha.

Scola I like coming off the bench as he is a great post scorer. He broke his wrist and is out for 4-6 weeks though. I seriously think I'm going to trade him though and see what kind of offers I can get. I'd like to go a little younger with potential and possibly get another first round pick and with scola being a free agent at the end of the year I know I won't be able to resign him and keep mbah a moute who is also up at the end of the season.
