Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

    i have 2 going

just lost a close game in the 06-07 season to the pistons[their bigs rebounding was too much for my nets] 100-95. They won basically because they had a 10 rebounds more than me. J Kidd had a triple double though. I run this

    PG: Kidd
    SG: Carter
    SF: RJ
    PF:Cliff Robinson
C: Camby[got him in a trade for kristic and a first round pick...lol]

Won 2 close games in the 96-97 season with the knicks. I run this lineup

    PG: Starks
    SG: Houston
    SF: Larry Johnson
    PF: Oakley
    C: Ewing

love it, Ewings turn around jumper is still as smooth as ever.

The way these rosters are set, everyone who is currently an unrestricted free agent is in the FA pool. This should prove to be very interesting watching where everyone ends up.

      I started with this lineup:

      PG: DJ Augistine, Kemba Walker
      SG: Gerald Henderson, Matt Carrol
      SF: Corey Maggette, Dante Cunningham
PF: Tyrus Thomas, Boris Diaw, Bismack Biyombo, Eduardo Najara, DJ White
      C: D. Diop

      FA signings:

      Kwame Brown- 1 yr/1.12 million
      Sean Singletary- 1 yr/$761K

I moved Kemba to SG for the moment until I can decide if him and DJ can play with each other. The only thing is, this is a small lineup. I like a lineup of Kemba and Henderson, but there is no way DJ wants to come off the bench. Henderson isn't happy about it either.

      Trades:

None yet. Here is what I know, I am stuck with Maggette as nobody will want to take on his contract especially at 31. I am also stuck with Diop and Carrol's player options accounting for around $10 million in cap space. I have a huge asset in DJ Augistine. But what should I do?

Makes sense to maybe look to unload DJ and possibly Carrol for a solid role player and a 1st rounder in the lottery with youth and potential. Its possible.

With DJ's contract out at the end of the year, I would have to sign him back with some serious money that isn't necessary with Kemba and Henderson. Thats a solid back court to build around and letting DJ go may be for the best. This year is tank year so it will be okay if I take a ratings hit.

What are you guys' thoughts on what to do with DJ and Kemba? I am about sold on trading DJ for someone who is not afraid to come off the bench along with a lotto pick.
No offense, But I'd Simulate this season and see who you can grab in FA, You can get some good 80 Overalls and a Good Center. And with your who to Start problem, I think you should trade DJ to another team for a backup who isn't interested if he's not a starter and a round pick or something. Why not just go on Trade Finder and see what good players you can get with it. I think Next season will be good though. If you offer enough good contracts to FA. This season, you probably won't do that amazing, But in future years, Kemba will be progressed into a STAR and also Henderson would And you would have a couple of good FA's. Hope I helped in anyway.

        Thanks, that's good feedback.

However, I have found a definite rhythm with this team. Gerald Henderson is a beast from mid range, with the right set of J's and one development round, his mid range is up to 83. Not stellar but the guy can create shots for himself easy. I run a pick and roll offense and try to swap between Kemba and Henderson 50-50 on who gets the screen. With Kemba I usually try to dish it to the cutter or fader, and with Henderson I try to get space and let it fly from 20-25 feet.

Henderson literally lit up the Nets. 45 points and 6 assists! He started off hot going 3-3 on the first three shots he took and then he dunked on Deron Williams big time. His meter stayed hot all game after that. He is impossible to contain once you call for an ISO.

I am 3-1 right now and am currently calling off my plans to tank this season. While this team is certainly not the favorite, I see a lot of the same features of the Grizzly team that did so well this year. Obviously there are no current stars on my roster, but with Kemba, Henderson, Wright, Tyrus, and Maggette, I am certainly no push over. It is surprising, but I am actually better with Maggette then Jax because of Jax's awkward shot release haha.

My defense is amazing with Biyombo and Tyrus swatting everything that comes in the paint it seems lol. Kemba is leading the league in steals currently too! He is a 77 rated PG and has the potential to be a star really quick after the Warriors 1st round pick yeilds me another lottery pick next year!

Game 1: Lost to Mavs( not close )
Game 2: Beat Pacers( close, won by 5 )
Game 3: Beat Bucks( close, won by 4 )
Game 4: Beat Nets (not close, won by 13 )
The way to build a good team is not to load it with star players, but to load it with players who play well together with an identity

well i just started season with bobcats too and i was using this starting 5:
          DJ Augustin
          K.Walker
          C.Maggette
          T.Thomas
          Byiombo (wrong spelling)
and i actually pulled off triple double with Kemba on 3rd game off the season against GSW . (first triple double ever playing this game and i actually didnt knew that i pulled that off until i looked at the stats after game was ended, it was something like 16pts , 10rbs, 10assists )
I actually like the lineup as it is , though i think i will trade Augustin and start Henderson and Kemba instead , cause i just like Henderson too much.
Just sayin that Kemba is really good at SG.

Seriously! This team is actually really good and fun to play with. My advice, is trade DJ for Dorrel? Wright, SF from the warriors and grab their 1st rounder for 2011. This adds a young SF to carry on after Maggette and lands a solid lotto pick too.

I love Henderson too! His mid range game is nasty, and he can flat out dunk on anyone

I'm now in the 5th season of my 76ers franchise and we are the two time defending NBA champs and just finished the regular season 66-16 so that makes 2 straight 60+ win regular seasons for us.....for both title runs we ran into the OKC Thunder with Tyreke Evans winning the finals MVP both times....Reke won his second MVP in a row and Evan Turner was 3rd in the MVP voting.

Each season has gone as follows

Year 1: Lost first round to Miami 4-3
Year 2: Lost ECFs to Miami 4-1
Year 3: Won NBA title defeating OKC Thunder 4-3
Year 4: Won NBA title defeating OKC Thunder 4-2
                Year 5: ?

Going into the playoffs as the number 1 seed hopefully we can complete the three-peat

                  PG:K.Walker/ J.Crittenton (yeah i know , him)
                  SG:G.Henderson/R.Mccants (signed him from FA) / G.Temple ( i dont like him )
SF: D.Wright (im starting him over Maggette)
PF:T.Thomas/B.Diaw/D.Cunningham ( i moved him to PF and when Diaw will get to old i will have a solid back up in him)
                  C:Nothing changed.
I cant wait to play some games with this team

I love playing with them! It is a true project.

I went back in with some downloaded game sliders since I had heard of them here on OS. The game play is a lot more realistic but also A LOT tougher. The whole lack of offense thing is showing and it is painful.

Game 1 is in the books against Dallas. We lost 89-69 and it was never close after early in the 2nd quarter.

                    Top performers

                    -DAL

                    J. Terry: 27 pts 4 assists 10-14 FG 5-7 3pt FG
                    D. Nowitzki: 14 pts 9 rebs

                    -CHAR

                    C. Maggette: 24 pts 3 steals 2 assists 3 TO
                    K. Walker: 12 pts, 9 assists, 2 steals, 5-9 FG, 4 TO
                    D. Wright: 9 pts, 3-4 3pt FG

I am under the impression that I am going to need to conform into what this team can do and will not be able to look much torwards the future until this off season. I do a lot of outside shooting so that needs to be the focus. I am in a jam right now as both Henderson and Maggette aren't rated highly from 3pt range.

What are the thoughts about this trade?

Trade away: Gerald Henderson, Dante Cunningham
                    Get: Toney Douglas, R.Balkman

Thoughts? I will give up Henderson, but with these sliders, he is really not helping my offense. Toney is every bit the defender and will be able to get his shot off and hit consistently. I feel like I can cope with the Maggette deal with Wright coming off the bench, but Henderson and Maggette on the floor at the same time is hopeless when it comes to scoring. I have always been a shooter. Attacking the rim is not my main line game.

Also, should I pursue a pick with this trade? 1st?

                    Thanks!

well, im using same sliders and trust me , henderson is still good , you just need to get used to it , last game i had 32 with henderson mostly from jumpshots and had 3 - 7 3pts , well about Maggette all i do with him is drive and force fouls , i shoot some WIDE WIDE open jumpers too , he is kinda decent , but i rather start Dorrel.

I hear you, being as this was my first game using the sliders, I will try to get used to it. I feel Henderson has more of an upside then TD does, and will definitely maintain a higher trade value longer. I may devote some time to his jumper in the off season.

Maggette is painful when shooting. His stroke is so smooth that I end up shooting with him way more then I should but he connected on 5 threes in the last game...out of 12 lol. Plus I signed Azubukie so I need to just put in the time and keep Henderson because he really is fun. I just have to figure out how to use him.

Next game, Indy is coming to town. We have the 5th overall defense, maybe our offense will show some life in this game

                        **UPDATE**

Game 2 resulted in a victory! None other then Boris Diaw, a player I have always been down on, led the charge. This Charlotte squad that had showed little capability on offense in Dallas erupted for 86 points besting the Pacers. The Cats shot 56% and 51% from deep.

                        Top Performers

                        -IND

                        D. Granger: 29 pts, 4 reb, 4 assists
                        T. Hansbrough: 14 pts, 5 reb, 2 steals

                        -CHAR

                        B. Diaw: 42 pts, 8-13 3pt FG, 1 steal, 1 block
                        K. Walker: 21 pts, 14 assists, 7 steals, 4 TO

Complete turn around in one days time. It must have everything to do with the level of competition. This was a much smoother game and we were in control for the better part of it.

I am not looking to make another trade until near the deadline, but I may be looking to go in the Diaw direction as opposed to the Tyrus direction so I may unload him and his contract to make room for resigning Boris this off season and building onto that.

                        Thoughts?

The way to build a good team is not to load it with star players, but to load it with players who play well together with an identity

Well about shooting percentages and your win , i won like 110-90 against GSW and just lost in a blowout against JAZZ , Tyrus was injured and Biyombo was not enough to stop Milsap and Jefferson . Anyways , i would suggest to not focus on Boris , he is what ? 31 years old ?
