Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

I'm in the month of January with a record of 21-10 in my Bulls franchise. I need a starting SG so I'm thinking about doing this trade with the Grizz:

    Bulls Get:
OJ Mayo SG, 71 OVR, 80 Potential
    J. Williams PG, 64 OVR (I plan to release him since he retired in real-life)

    Grizz Get:
Omer Aski, 66 OVR, 75 Potential
CJ Watson, 71 OVR, 70 Potential
1st Round Pick in 2011 (Heat Pick)
1st Round Pick in 2012 (Bobcats Pick)

I would be without a PG and a 7 foot C but I probably would sign Scottie Reynolds and use him as my backup PG. I also plan to sign Chris Hunter and use him as my backup C.

I also figured that the Grizz needs a quality backup PG and a backup C, especially since, in my Association, Hammidi is upset with the team and plans to leave when he is a Free Agent.

Is this a fair enough trade?

Not entirely certain on giving up two first round picks, but it's not a terrible trade for either team. Especially since the Grizz were looking at off-loading Mayo anyway.

Thanks for the response. Only reason I want to get rid of the pick is because I really don't want any 1st rounders for a couple of years since I'm trying to win the title ASAP. So I'll probably go through with the deal then. Wish the Bulls would do this in real life, lol

Its actually funny to me that the biggest qualm I have with the trade is that I think the Bulls are high on Omer Asik, and I'm not sure how they feel about trading him. Cross-conference at least makes it an easier pill to swallow. It's a hard trade to digest, but I think in the end it helps both teams, gives the Grizz more depth, and with Gay coming back losing Mayo wouldn't be a terrible thing.

Grizzlies made out like bandits IMO.

Especially since the Grizzlies in real life accepted a McRoberts/1st round pick deal from Indiana but fell apart because of lateness.

But if you're satisfied, that's all that matters.

I am just starting a OKC association and need to make a trade. I am in year 2 now and I am really deep in the back court

                PG: Nate Robinson(82) Reggie Jackson(69) Eric Maynor(71)
                SG: Russel Westbrook(92) James Harden(81) Marcus Thorton(75) Thabo Sefolosha(73?)

However, my only quality front court guys are Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibaka. As much as I love the back court dept, I am one injury away from being in a bad situation with just Perkins and Ibaka.

Any ideas? Really want to hold on to Nate, Westbrook, Jackson, but everyone else is fair game. Any thoughts?

Well, looking at your backcourt, I see a ton of minutes as well, so I don't know if you want guys who go well with role player roles or bench warmer roles, but some trades like Maynor for Robin Lopez, trading Sefolosha for Kenneth Faried(maybe?) or Luc Richard Mbah a Moute(and using him as a 4) are sound moves, especially since your backcourt remains offensive with NateRob and Thornton coming off the bench.

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

Very true, I couldn't find guys minutes that were quality players.

So I attempted to address the weaknesses of the team which is the front court. Center is solid with Perkins and Cole Aldrich, but PF needed help. I only had Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison on the roster so I looked to use assets to strengthen up the front line.

                    Trade 1:

Toronto gets: Thabo Sefolosha, '13 1st round OKC
                    OKC gets: Amir Johnson

Hated to see that 1st rounder go, but in hopes of competing for a title this year, I needed the size. Johnson brings much needed dept to the PF slot and is young and under a favorable contract. What do you guys think of that trade in terms of realism?

                    Trade 2

Bucks get: Dequan Cooke, '12 2nd Round T-Wolves, '12 second round OKC
OKC gets: Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

What do you guys think of this one? They wanted to do the deal for just the T-Wolves pick, but I tossed in my 2nd rounder too since I was getting the far better player. This was the biggest trade of the year for me as I landed a guy that can play SF and PF well. He can back up either KD and Gee at SF, or Serge and Amir Johnson at PF. His 3 year/$6.3 million contract was super favorable too since I have to resign both Westbrook and Robinson this off season.

Thoughts? I can post my roster if you want to see how the trade has effected the team. Currently the top rated team in the league!

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

The first one seems a little lopsided out of your favor in all honesty. Sefolosha is a great defensive player(something 2k doesn't appreciate in the slightest), while Amir is pretty much just "ok" at a bunch of things, as far as filling needs go, it's not a bad trade, especially if you swing over and edit Sef to a SF for the Raptors.

The second trade I hate, and it falls under the game undervaluing defensive prowess again, Mbah a Moute, is a valuable asset to any team if only because he guard four positions, there is almost no way Milwaukee lets him go for that cheap of a price. In all honesty, I'd switch the picks that were traded, and it at least becomes plausible.

I like your team though, rolling two deep at least at every position, but I don't see how you're going to keep everyone happy.

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely knew the Sefoloshia deal was a deal that favored Toronto, but I honestly couldn't ask for a better player to fill the void behind Serge. I started to see how the rotation would work with them but the controller died last night lol. The Mbah a Moute trade is definitely one where I'll swap my 2nd round for my 1st because that was a cheap price and he is definitely just what I need. The way I have the rotation set, I should be able to keep everyone happy, but only time will tell lol. Loving Westbrook at the SG position. I have a lot of weapons all over this roster. We are overall rated 96, with only these 2 trades made

blazers trade : gerald wallace and toney douglas

blazers receive: steve nash and 1st round pick

i like it because now i have a playmaking pg and i can start batum who shoots better than wallace and plays lockdown d also. Also the trade is fair in my opinion but i dont see the suns ever getting rid of nash but you never know what'll happen. now my team looks like this :

                          Pg: nash (84), k. irving(74), bibby(67)
                          sg: roy (85) jo. crawford(74) j. diebler( 62)

Planning on doing a new Orlando association now that we're pretty much settled into no NBA transactions for what might be a LONG time. Kicking around a couple Dwight Howard demands to be traded scenarios. These would all be after the 2010-11 season.

                            Proposal #1:

LAKERS GET: Dwight Howard (ORL), Gilbert Arenas (ORL)
MAGIC GET: Chris Paul (NO), Pau Gasol (LA), Emeka Okafor (NO)
HORNETS GET: Andrew Bynum (LA), Jameer Nelson (ORL), Derek Caracter (LA), Daniel Orton (ORL)

                            Proposal #2:
                            NETS GET: Dwight Howard
MAGIC GET: Brook Lopez, Damion James, '11 1st Round Pick & '12 1st Round Pick

Option 1 is basically a shuffling of some great players. Option 2 is more of a start of a rebuild for Orlando.

The magic rebuild immediately with option 1. You dump Arenas' contract, and get a good PF, a solid center, and a great PG. I would definitely do option 1, if you think you can keep Chris Paul.

Wallace and douglas for nash? You got robbed. You're obviously going to have to push the pace now and I'm not sure these players (esp. the frontcourt) would be best for run and gun. Yes, Batum has a wet j and can play lockdown d, but wallace is Lebron - lite. He's an elite defender and can draw tons of fouls.
