I went with the Wizards but with some unrealistic roster changes.

        PG John Wall
        SG Michael Jordan
        SF Scottie Pipen
        PF Shawn Kemp
        C Marcus Camby

        Key Reserves:
        Greg Oden
        Kyle Lowery
        Courtney Lee
Andray Blatche (really upset about coming off the bench)

I made a ton of trades to make this happen including sending Arenas to Portland and Hierich to Houston.

        I am 41 - 13

i used the kings as well.. by year three this was my line-up: chris paul 95ovr, tyreke evans 91ovr, omar casspi 68ovr, jason thompson 79ovr, damarcus cousins 79ovr... bench: troy murphy 67ovr, AK47 70ovr, gerald henderson 71ovr, pat mills 68ovr, hassan whiteside 61ovr, and a 69ovr rookie sf.. as u can see i signed paul, murphy, and ak4769ovr, traded garcia for henderson and now the team is ranked 4th ovr, their young and getting better.. oh and i still have a mil in cap spaces plus udrih's $7mill coming off the books.. one trade, three smart free agent moves, and this could be a dynasty

Re: What teams are you using to rebuild in NBA 2K11's Association Mode?

I've seen several people in this thread mention wanting to play with Carmelo, but no one seems interested in starting with the Nuggets.

After watching the Nuggets-Bucks game last night, I decided to start an association with the Nuggets.

                Here's why:

                1. Everyone wants to take one of the worst teams in the league and make them a champion in three years. This isn't realistic. A lot of these teams people talk about won't win a championship in 5 years or even 10.

                2. The Nuggets are a contender, a mid-major in the Western Conference, that just needs a few pieces to get over the top. They have a realistic shot at becoming a championship caliber team in the next few years.

                3. A lot of big contracts are set to come off the books (this I learned during the Nuggets-Bucks game). Carmelo Anthony, of course, but also Nene, JR Smith, Aaron Affalo, and Kenyon Martin are all in the last year of their contract. Chauncey Billups only has two years remaining. This gives you a chance to either build around Anthony (which I will do) and bring in young, real talent that can play in the west or go in the same direction and hope the mashup currently in Denver can get it done.

So, if you're interested in a realistic Association and taking a somewhat capable team to the next level, go with the Nuggets. There is plenty of talent for the short-term but there is also a lot of room to make big changes in the near future.

Re: What teams are you using to rebuild in NBA 2K11's Association Mode?

I like to rebuild a team and see if I can make them a champion in 3 years. If you make fair trades, get good draft picks and have good team chemistry than I dont see why it wouldnt be realistic for a team to become champions in 3 years. Its hard to determine what is realistic or not as mostly everything a player does in association mode is in the future. Nobody predicted the Big Three in Miami 2 years ago and if you did that on an association in 2k9 then you would have been told it isnt realistic. The biggest reason most teams never compete for a championship is because their owners/upper management and location make it very difficult to sustain any kind of success.

The Nuggets would be an interesting team to play with in association mode but for me, I dont like their location, jerseys, court, or roster enough to play with them. The what-if factor of Melo on the Knicks or Nets is an interesting scenario that alot of people including myself would like to see played out in an association on 2K11.

I was at that Bucks-Nuggets game last night and Denver gave Milwaukee all kind of chances to win that game. When your two best players(Bogut & Jennings) combine for 7pts you deserve to lose. Melo put on a show it was fun to watch! His mid-range game is ridiculous!

I am rebuilding the Knicks. As of right now I am first in the Eastern Conference. A game ahead of Boston. I play a game and sim a game.

Running with the Knicks as well. No Melod though. I'm 9th in the Eastern Conference at 25-31.

                        THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
I picked the Kings with the intention of building a team around Evans, Melo, and Cousins.

I purged the roster in hopes of landing Melo during free agency after trade requests for him had me giving up Evans and Cousins in the deal. Year one only had me making one big trade and that was freeing up cap space with Dalembert for a nice young SF Thadeus Young. Which I thought the Kings were lacking with their current SF’s on the roster. Cousins was now the starter and I thought I’d be set. I had about 22 million in cap space so Melo and another role player was on my radar. I addressed the point with a rookie having the 5th pick in the 11-12 draft. I could stick with it as long as my dream was alive. In the upcoming free agency it was said to have Billups and Melo denying to resign with the Nuggets. I advanced and neither hit free agency I was hoping Billups could come for a year while I rotate the rookie in with Melo and Cousins killing it in the front court.

The free agency ended up being garbage and my plan was out the window. I hit with the point guard and the role player was Anthony Morrow a 3 point specialist. I always built my team around a scoring SG, athletic SF, and scoring PF. The point just needs to move the ball and the center needs to control the paint. I spent the next few seasons trying to find a suitable SF and PF. Young was ascoring disaster for me. He couldn't hit anything and was a terrible defender. I tried names like Nowitzki, Marion, Carter, Bosh, and Jermaine O’Neil. But they never gelled with the team concept and all were in their decline as players. I decided the best move was go young and see how these kids turn out. Cousins refused to resign so he was gone at the trade deadline. Bosh and Cousin were shipped out picking up Dorrell Wright, Marreese Speights, and Anthony Robinson. I finally hit a home run. The offense is moving, the front court is solid and the team chemistry/morale is great. It’s now the 2013-14 season and the Kings are well under the cap and have their starting 5 under contract for 3-5 years, along with Morrow. I have four 1st round picks in the upcoming draft and plan to see how my prospects play or they will be gone. I had one injury to Morrow and my teams deficiencies are starting to shine through with the additional minutes my bench is getting. I changed my scoring philosophy to the players that I have instead of how I wanted it and its worked out.

I have enjoyed this game tremendously and it’s actually feeling like a great accomplishment to building a solid team. I hope you find a great team and come up with a solid plan. Teams I considered was OKC, Hornets, Golden State and as always the lonely Clippers that other LA team.

I thought about using whatever team Melo ends up on after the deadline update but after playing an online game with OKC I will be using them I really like Durant and Westbrook. Durant is already there for 6 years so I should be able to do some tinkering to put them over the top and win it all.

the pistons for many reasons.. the coach sux, a lot of expiring contracts, and guys who are signed for more than a year or two can be packaged and traded... i always sim the first year so ill see how quickly and REALISTICALLY i can make them relevant again
