Re: What teams are you using to rebuild in NBA 2K11's Association Mode?

I think imma try and run with Detroit. I dont wanna blow um up completley the first year but i would like to move either T.Prince or Rip Hamilton.Im leanin more towards Rip because of his contract and bein that i am a die hard Kentucky fan since birth i wanna hold on to Prince as long as i can
Plus i can do some nice things with Prince on the low block on offense and he is still an awesome defender. What sound realistic to u guys? I was thinkin about M.Redd for Rip bein that Redds contract is up after this year and would take almost 30 mill off the books with both his and Princes contract exp.

I dunno though. I want to make it as realistic as possible and it kinda sounds good for me but then the Bucks are stuck with Rips bad contract. What do you guys think would be a good fair trade?

No deal, unless they are struggling so horribly and Hamilton is playing at a high level, not happening.

You sir, know nothing about the Bucks then. Arguably top 3-5 bench in the league (Dooling, CDR, Maggette, Sanders, Ilyasova, LRMAM)

I'm looking at all my options for a team to rebuild to. I have been holding out for season opening rosters and a well needed association patch before I start, but I'd like to not be ADD/OCD about my team this year that leads to like 5 switches and me completely missing out on seeing the light of day past year one. Not sure if I want complete rebuilding or a "retooling" team yet. Wizards and Kings seem to be hot because of their young prospects. I've also looked at the 76ers, Spurs, Hornets, Warriors, Nuggets (if you trade Melo), and Jazz (might need some retooling after loosing Boozer, Brewer, and Korver). Not really sure what would be the best in the long haul....

Im suprised not many people mentioned the cavs. Its a blast to take control of them after what lebron did and try to rebuild. I drafted a beast 2nd overall to help cleveland forget about lebron. His name is Randolph clemons and he is pretty much a lebron clone but not as strong defensively He gets up though

Re: What teams are you using to rebuild in NBA 2K11's Association Mode?

The team I choose to run with was the T'Wolves. I run an up-tempo, pick and roll, PG orientated offense, so at choosing for a team, I knew I needed an athletic or pass first PG to run my O.

That's where Johnny Flynn and the T'Wolves came to play.

For every basketball game, my ideal starting 5 consists of:

          Athletic or Pass-first PG
          Great Shooting SG
Athletic or a Great Defending SF
Pick 'N Roll, Rebounding, 'Finishing-at-the-Basket' PF
and a Defensive Powerhouse at C, to make up for the mistakes of the other players.

So with model at hand. I made some transactions:

First I waived the bum Darko Milicic.

I then traded Luke Ridnour, Wayne Ellington, Michael Beasely and a '12 First Round Pick to the Grizzlies for O.J. Mayo and Hasheem Thabeet.

The Cav's then offered me another bum, Jawad Williams and an '11 First Round pick for Corey Brewer; at first I was hesitate in letting him go because he's such a good defender who with progression, will ultimately be a GREAT One. But remembering that I had the more athletic, better shooting, possibly better defending: Wesley Johnson, i wasn't so iffy about it. PLUS, I was getting a First Round Pick from a team who i knew would at LEAST have a top ten pick in the upcoming years draft.

My Starting Lineup now consisted of:

          Flynn
          Mayo
          W. Johnson
          Love
          Thabeet.

A pretty solid, all-around group, especially for a re-building team.

But then, at my first game, I took a tumble.

We lost against the Kings, 97-74 (it was my first game with the team and it showed...) while taking a hit in the starting lineup as Thabeet was injured for a month.

So now I had to go shop for a defensive replacement at the 5...

Needless to say, i didn't find one. I settled for the Athletic, Jump-Out-the Gym, Sean Williams, who if utilized well enough, can run a little Pick 'N Roll, while mildly defending at the hoop with his great block and vertical rating.
          (I didn't need a rebounder as I crash boards and Love's rating at rebounding is a 99.)

Yet still, without our shot blocker Thabeet, to make up for our perimeter mistakes we ended up losing two more close games to the Bucks and the Grizzlies. (Bogut and Gasol tore me up smh.)

So now we're pretty much weathering the storm til Thabeet comes back...But the next game I play the Heat so...YEAH. We'll see how that goes.

I still need a great Low Post Defender, who can play play the great forwards of the West 'cause I'm sure double-teaming isn't going to work for the rest of the season.

          What do you guys suggest?

You and me are almost the exact same, thats why i chose the Nets. They have most of that in place already. Joel Pryzbilla is probably the best rebounder not named dwight howard, and is a good post defender. plus an expiring contract. it was a mistake to waive darko, your gonna have that contract on your books for 5 years.

Started an Association with the Wizards. Before the first game, I wanted to trade away Arenas to get rid of that contract and maybe get some picks in return. This was the trade:

                Celtics get:
Gilbert Arenas, '12 First Round Pick

                Wizards get:
Kendrick Perkins, Ray Allen, '11 First Round Pick, '12 First Round Pick

I'm loving the trade so far, and it seems like the Celtics are too because whenever I check the score of their game, Arenas has 20-30 points. I needed a defensive presence in the paint for sure too because McGee, Blatche, or Yi definitely aren't. I'll be playing with this Wizard team until the season starts and I will start with my Jazz.

Woah. That T-Will trade opening up the cap space is music to my ears. I pretty much LIVE through Free Agency, I pick up over half of my team in there a year. I will definatly make that move. But I still need a trade for Biedrens, because David Lee wont work for me as a Center. Any moves for Biedrens?

I guess I'm not sure why you want to move Andris. He's a 24 year old 7 footer who can board and hit a 10 foot jumper. Keep him and develop him, man. He'll be a great fit for your offense.

There's no way the C's would do that. They are going to be rebuilding soon, why would they get rid of all their future draft picks? And why lose a younger big man when they are going to be losing some in the near future? It'd never happen.

Well that trade sure worked out in the long run. After I simmed season one, I ended up with 21 million. I must not have worked it out right. But I ended up drafting, I forgot his name, from Syracuse with the 15th pick. But then the Lakers gave me the 25th pick for my second round pick and 2011 First Round. Of course I accepted, and I drafted Kalin Lucas from Michigan State. Sound familiar? Haha. But I then had 19 million for Free Agency, and I spent it all. I signed Shannon Brown, Jason Richardson, and Kendrick Perkins to fill out my roster. Almost signed J.R. Smith before I signed Shannon, but he signed with the Nets. I now have -$914K. But my rotation is like this:

                        PG- Steph Curry- 33 Minutes
                        SG- Shannon Brown- 33 Minutes
SF- Terrance Williams- 33 Minutes (See a trend?)
                        PF- David Lee- 33 Minutes
                        C- Kendrick Perkins- 33 Minutes
                        6- Dorell Wright- 20 Minutes
                        7- Jason Richardson- 19 Minutes
                        8- Andres Biedrins- 19 Minutes
                        9- Charlie Bell- 10 Minutes
                        10- Ekpe Udoh- 5 Minutes
                        11- Louis Admunson- 2 Minutes
12- Kalin Lucas- 0 Minutes (Still Developing)

It looks like for a few years I wont have to make many moves, as I can keep this team winning for a while. It looks to be very fun.

Wow, Im so glad you told me to keep him. He's a 74 overall after a little bit of development. He can fit in well if Perkins gets in foul trouble early (Which will happen with me.)

That's what I'm here for, lol. Your lineup looks pretty solid. Perkins, Lee, and Biedrins make up a great post rotation. I'd suggest getting Udoh a bit more involved. He'll be a solid backup.

They did in the game. Maybe because of Arenas A+ potential rating.

I probably will get Udoh more involved. I might take some of Charlie Bell's minutes away, since Steph can play a great SG as well. But the thing is, I WOULD have done that but I accidently saved over it. And Im not restarting another season, and the Warriors got pretty boring. Should I use another team?
