Yeah, you're right. Maybe 2K should follow EA's lead and rebuild from the ground up. We all know how well "that" game did.

If you jam the ball to basket with Dwight Howard in 2k11 he will lose the ball....I know this for a fact. I do this to my cousin who plays with ORL exclusively....its pretty easy honestly.

Now if your suggesting Dwight should randomly lose the ball in the post to cover his TO numbers in the NBA, ill pass on those realistic numbers....
That's exactly what I'm suggesting. Or, not random, but statistically/probability based. IMO, that's simulation.

And I have never seen anyone, ever, lose the ball unless it was stolen or the result of a bad pass. *Actually, that's not true. But it is very rare. Look at the TO numbers, compare them to the steal numbers.

If you can think of a better way, by all means. Of course I want it to pass the eye-test. We all love our veils.

Madden can do all things just like that while working 11 vs 11 at once and has a more fluid handle of the offensive and defensive players with better reaction timing.
Madden does things well but you can't say everything he listed isn't impressive. Gimme a break. NO other basketball game is as polished as 2k11. and it's not even close. The AI really makes you pay if you don't play proper fundamental defence. It's not as if the AI is cheating you out by putting a lid on your basket and making all of their shots go in (in Madden sometimes it feels like the AI is cheating, IMO). 2k11 rewards you for playing proper, fundamental team defense and having patience on offense.

Losing your dribble based on probabilities has been done in both 2K and Live most people did not like it. The reason is because there is no feedback as to why you lost your handle. I think a good way to implement this is when people try to do too much with their dribbling or use post moves too quickly, they loose the handle.

This is why the thread is open - to educate. This is wrong. FIFA has canned animations. When your player falls is just one example... when they shoot, when they get hit in the face and roll around...

Every game has canned animations. You're more concerned with two player animations that don't have branch points and play out with the same result. Use this as an opportunity to educate yourself because what you're saying is wrong but your meaning behind it has merit.

You right on that Dwight will losing that ball in the paint but what cheesers do is over dribble till they find a crease then dunk, Im not saying that u go in traffic and lose it immediately but dribbling in and around the paint with lebron? His handles are suspect at best. Shoot even Jordan in his Prime after he cut his finger with the cigar cutter
his handles were terrible compared to his first few years in the league.

Every game has canned animations. You're more concerned with two player animations that don't have branch points and play out with the same result. Use this as an opportunity to educate yourself because what you're saying is wrong but your meaning behind it has merit.

Then you should check and make sure that your NBA Rules are in check, because they should be calling 3 seconds in the paint.
In and around the paint were there is traffic, when most people dribble when playing real ball and u make contact with a couple guys around you you will have a tendency to lose the dribble or at least pick it up not continue and bounce around like a pin ball and keep the dribble.

Name a few madden exploits, I want to know what ALL these exploits are people keep talking about.. but no examples have been given.

In Madden, you do tell the CPU the exact thing that everyone on the field is going to do before you do it. You call a play. Even when freelancing, you are often inputting (through the controller) the exact thing you are going to do next. Most of the things I listed above are stunning observations made by a computer opponent and not based solely on the CPU's ability to disguise its reaction to controller input.

Please don't misunderstand me, I thought NCAA 11 was the best football game ever made (didn't play Madden this year, first time ever btw). But, the AI in 2K is almost capable of abstract thought. In other games, you can smell the math.
I was referring to Madden's CPU opponent capability as well. The AI on your team in 2k needs a little work, the spacing is terrible, players without the ball need to act like they've played before. The CPU AI plays much better, which is a good thing. Madden's CPU AI finds mismatches, audibles, picks plays based on situations, makes reads, uses moves on tacklers, try for a strip, it uses real coaching principles. I mean people will say predictable if it runs on 1st down and passes on 3rd and long, but when it calls a screen on 3rd and long and converts, then people get mad it "cheated." I mean, I guess I've just come to expect it out of the better games, maybe it's just the standard they've set.

Never said that. EA has revamped the Live/Elite from the ground up multiple times over the last few years. and when they finally had something solid to build on (Last years Live '10), they decide to rebuild AGAIN for Elite. I don't care if it's from the ground up or not. If it's quality, I'm fine with it. This years game is the best ball game ever. You say it feels "old", I say it's familiar.

The playcalling in Madden is a stale and pathetic representation of its sport, it shouldnt be compared to 2k11 in any respect.

And with that... I think I'll stop listening to you

I agree w/the point in the post above; I don't think the masses want overhaul and change every few years. There are tons of games that establish a successful base formula, and then simply improve on it. Whether it's God of War, Call of Duty, Halo, Gears, Madden (last gen), MLB the Show, or NBA2K. Seems like many times it's the ultra-hardcore out there demanding change more than a regular consumer who's primary goal [seems to be] entertainment
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
