Oh I'll definitely still be buying it on release day, if for nothing else then to ensure I receive those classic Warrior and Kings teams. But I still like to think parts of 2K care about our overall satisfaction, not just whether we buy the game or not. In fact, I know product sold is not the bottom line for a lot of those guys over there. Therefore, I feel it's worth noting that an inability to edit classic teams in the same manner as we could in 2K11 severely chops down nearly all anticipation and energy I had built up for this title.
Of course, if the NBA season were still going on as scheduled, I'd have a lot more to fall back on in this game, and I certainly don't blame 2K for that. But as it stands, for video game standards I value realism and authenticity. And with a lockout, I won't be able to get that realism and authenticity in Association, My Player, or Quick Game modes with current teams. I was planning on wearing those classic teams out for all they were worth. However, with the recent revelations regarding the apparent removal of last year's full edit options, it seems realism for the classic teams has also almost gone out the window. It doesn't leave a lot for some of us.
