Not really actually. I restarted my assoc and made the deal again But I sent Nash and Hill for Williams, Young, Vucevic (instead of Nocioni) and the '12 1st rd pick. So let's break this down. I traded Nash an upgrade at PG for them for their backup, Hill my starter for their backup SF, a backup PF and a #1... How again do they get a bad trade? They get better depth off their bench. If anything I got ripped off, but I like Lou Williams for the uptempo offense I run. Maybe If I stole Holiday and let's say Turner? I would agree but they are rolling out Nash, Meeks, Iggy, Brand, Hawes and off the bench, Holiday, Hill, Turner and Brackins. They're a better team.
Since I restarted the Assoc. I wanted to still shed cap of Warrick and Childress. I did the OKC trade again but instead of Cook, I got Jackson and Mohammed. I signed Aaron Brooks to be my backup (I wanted a quality #2 since Williams will just be an avg starter). Needing scoring I signed JR Smith as my SG. Not needing Telfair I released him and I flipped Ronnie Price to Nola for Xavier Henry.
I know 3 trades isn't super realistic but I feel I haven't made any super outrageous deals. Nash/Hill to philly is a stretch, agreed but I liked the players I was getting back. In my team's case after Nash. Signing Brooks and Smith is feasible. Having some cap room, i signed them to 1 year deals. Again feasible because if they play good, I can extend them during the year. Also If i get a high pick I can use that on either of their positions. Since I'm banking on Young, Morris and Gortat to be my front line for a couple of years (Unless I get Drummond or Davis in the Draft. Also Jackson is my future backup PG just not as a rook, Henry is my injury insurance and Redd is too for the year, Same with Mohammed). I also run a 2 line system like hockey. Starters play with starters and Bench with bench. Here is the breakdown.
Pos/Starter/Bench/Warmer-Res.
PG- Lou Williams/Aaron Brooks/Reggie Jackson
SG- JR Smith/ Shannon Brown/ Michael Redd
SF- Thad Young/ Jared Dudley/ Xavier Henry
PF- Channing Frye/ Markieff Morris/ Nikola Vucevic
C- Marcin Gortat/Robin Lopez/Nazr Mohammed
Playing with Phoenix I love the uptempo system. I try to play tougher defense, but it's about getting up and down the court. I also play 10 min quarters with adjusted sliders. The only dip I have is rebounding and the shooting %'s are usually 47%-50% (a tad bit high for averages usually 43% to 47%) It's a sacrifice I've made to get realistic scores for 10 min quarters. I also sim 1/2 the games in the year and yes 82 game season.
My first game vs OKC I lost by 3. 98-95 on a Westbrook 3 with 1.5 seconds.
one last note: rebuilding Phoenix I'm kind of hoping for a top 5-7 pick so I can get one of the draft class' elite players (hopefully Barnes, Lamb or Kidd-Gilchrist the way I have built this team), but I am also hoping I can make the playoffs. I figure with 2 1st rounders during the draft maybe I can trade up.
Sorry for the long post but I had to defend the trade and I have to say use the Sim World rosters. they are great.
