In my Raptors season Barnani got hurt for the season with 6 weeks left, and I was in dead last so I simmed to the end to go to the offseason.

Lakers swept the Heat in the Finals. Kobe had 44 in the 4th game

In the draft lottery I had the projected 2nd and 7th pick (Cuz I had the Pistons which was 7th and Pistons had mine which was 1st). Luckily, the Wizards 1st rd pick I had won the lottery, so I had 1st and 7th, along with a 27th first round pick.

1st Overall: Harrison Barnes
I traded down a few times bc I wanted a PG and none were expected to go until the mid 1st round, so after trades:
18th Overall: Myck Kabongo (He's Canadian and I need a PG so I like it for Toronto)
I trade Alex Young (IUPUI) with my 27th pick but traded him for a 1st rd pick next year.
I later drafted Michael Glover (IONA) cuz I like watching him and he can play both SF and PF if I need him, although he will probably be deep down the roster.

Free Agency:

I have 20 million in cap space. I havent quite decided what I want to do. CP3 has agreed to my offer........ That is awesome. At the same time, it feels weird taking him now from the Clippers. Its a game i know but he wont be gone after 1 year and it feels weird being Toronto and knowing that wouldnt ever happen. So I dont know If I will do it. Other than him, I am just looking for a few bench spots and have Tyler Honeycutt, Bill Walker, Travis Leslie and Patty Mills. I am going to sign Solomon Alabi since he was on my team last year and was nice for me in the paint.

Im going to save it now and I want CP3 to resign with the Clips and Ill try my best to have him do that. If he keeps signing with other teams though, I may just grab him

IDK what is up with Chris Paul, but he apparently only wants to sign with mediocre teams to turn them around. When I decline his offer, he goes to the Pistons or Cavs.

I can accept him going to Detroit over the Cavs. Cavs with Kyrie arent gonna be taking CP3. Pistons, even with Stuckey and Knight, I can see more only because those 2 could play SG. Also, Pistons drafted Anthony Davis, and I can see that combo being deadly. It's not ideal, but I just dont feel right taking on such a big name player and having Toronto go the rebuilding route of "Get 1 player and we are amazing". Already through development and the draft Ive improved drastically, so I think I want to see how I can do with what I have. If I was the biggest CP3 fan ever, I probably would take him. I like him a lot, but with the way I play on this game, PG is the least important to be a scorer

Honeycutt wont play much, but he could go in at SG as well. Biyombo will go in at PF or C when I have big foul trouble. But overall IDK how much Ill play him.

Alabi, Mills, Lin, Biyombo, Johnson, Honeycutt, Williams, Davis and DeRozan are all on 1 year contracts now. I will do my best to resign Davis and DeRozan before the season is over, and depending on how the others play will depend if they come back. I have 5 draft picks this year thanks to trading down in the last draft, and 3 are first rounders (Bucks, Suns, Warriors). I am hoping 2 of those are lottery and then I really will be in for a nice draft again. I like my team a lot this year. Its +10 rated from last year. Still not projected to do well, but I feel I could have a nice year and make sneak into the playoffs. I plan on playing much more games in this season than last, so it should be fun

Started one with the Cavs and had a CRAZY 1st game...

first off, made on trade

Omri Casspi + Christian Eyenga, 2012 1st rounder, 2013 2nd rounder for Dajuan Summers and Eric Gordon...

First game vs Indiana

They held the lead for almost the whole game witht he biggest lead being about 8. I took the lead 106-105 with 15 seconds left and Paul George hit a jumper to give them a 1 point lead with 3 seconds left...called a TO and got the ball to half court and inbounded it to Kyrie who dribbled in and took a quick pull and....SWOOSH! CAVS WIN 108-107! it was such a good feeling because my entire team had a great shooting night except for Kyrie. lol. Eric Gordon and Granger both went off, neither team could stop them. Kyrie struggled in his first career game shooting 7-21 (definately way too aggressive with him, ill learn as the season progresses) however had 7 boards and 8 assists. Gordon had 34 and 8 assists and 5 boards, while Granger dropped 31 and 10. Jamison had a great game but was in foul trouble which severely limited his minutes and he ended up fouling out with 5 min left, however still had 21 points. I love my team with Gordon however I'd like to get a different SF rather than Summers or Gee who is better defensively...here are some stats.

In my associations that I do; I take the player option off Chris Paul's contract. That way he stays with the Clippers like he has said in real life. I also take the player option off Dwight Howard's contract and make it a one year deal. That way he has a better chance of going somewhere else.
However, every association Ive done Dwight signs back with the Magic.

Had one of the most fun games I've ever played and I lost by 5. I was down 8-13 points the ENTIRE game. We fought back and got within 3 in the final minute. Eric Gordon missed a WIDE OPEN 3 that would have tied up the game with 30 seconds left and after that they hit their free throws and we couldn't make anymore magic happen (this is the 2nd game of my association and Kyrie hit the game winning pull up jumper as time expired in the opener vs Indiana. Sorry I'm tired and too lazy to do the Hawk's bench. HOrford and Hinrich were out both with broken fingers. Josh Smith got hurt in the first half which was good, as he was killing me. Willie Green also went down with an injury and Donald Sloan is also hurt for them. LOL thats 5 guys hurt for them in the 2nd week of the season. I'm now 1-1 and play Phoenix at home next game...will post results afterwards. Thank god for Yellz sliders + the World Sim Rosters, they both completely saved the game for me and it plays PHENOMENALLY! couldn't be happier with how they turned out...lol i however am not patient enough to wait for the association file/roster set..o well.

I'm in year 2 for my Warriors Association.
We didn't make the playoffs in the 1st season and Kobe and the Lakers beat the Heat (who btw make the Finals about 2 of every 3 times in my associations.. ) in the Finals.

Current depth chart into preseason:

PG: Stephen Curry, Gary Neal
SG: Monta Ellis, Landry Fields, Gary Neal
SF: Anthony Davis, Tobias Harris, Tyler Honeycutt, Thomas Robinson (d-league)
PF: Kevin Love, Bismack Biyombo, Renardo Sidney (d-league)
C: Epke Udoh, Nikola Vucevic

Thomas Robinson and Renardo Sidney will likely be sent to the D-League but I could see them having a future with the team.

In the draft I wanted to get Harrison Barnes or Anthony Davis to take over for Trevor Ariza. Barnes went 2nd but this time I didn't try hard to get him because I figured Davis would be easier to get. I had the Bobcats' pick, 10th, and Davis started to fall but landed at 9 to the T'Wolves. I ended up taking Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and traded him, Ariza, and my other 1st (26th) for Davis. After some other trades I ended up having the 1st and 3rd pick in the 2nd round and took Robinson and Sidney.

Then in FA, I went after Landry Fields, Eric Gordon, and Kevin Love. Fields to fill a 6th man role, Gordon because I somewhat prefer him to Ellis, and Love to take over at C or PF. I was kind of alright with Gordon re-signing with the Hornets because I'm ok with my other SG options. I was able to land Fields and Love though. I was also glad I could sign Gary Neal (can play SG/PG and shoots 3s well) and Tyler Honeycutt as well.

I then traded Marcin Gortat and got back Nikola Vucevic.

So now I'm pondering trading Monta Ellis because he's 27 and I need a PF/C to go along with Love. I like Udoh but he hasn't progressed as much as I'd hoped. Plus I really like Fields and Klay Thompson and I want them each to get a good amount of minutes. Even though I don't like the idea of trading a guy with as much potential as Monta has, getting a player of equal ability at a PF/C position would complete my team IMO.

And so I went to the trade finder and found this offer from the Hawks:

Warriors receive:
F Josh Smith
'13 1st

Hawks receive:
G Monta Ellis
F/C Epke Udoh

I love Josh Smith's all-around ability (high-flyer, shoots 3s well, plays great defense) and I would receive a 1st as well which would make up for the loss of Ellis. They're also around the same age and both in their prime. I don't mind the loss of Udoh too much because I have a few bigs that could fill in his place as a backup. I might try and get a 2nd from them as well. It would also open up a spot for Robinson, Sidney, or maybe a FA.

Is it a risk to give up a guy that is only 27 with the potential to be a superstar? Josh is in the same boat though and fills a spot that I need where as trading Monta would be trading from a place of depth.

Acquiring Smith would leave me with what I believe would be one of the most exciting starting 5 in the league:

I like ellis cus he can create for himself. How many touches is smith really gonna get. Id just find a center who can fill space and get boards. You already have scorers.

I like Ellis as well but I also like Klay and Landry and want them to get enough minutes so they're not mad. I just think trading a player of depth for a similar-rated and similar-aged All-Star type that fills a need is a a good trade.

1-1 In my 2nd year at Toronto. Harrison Barnes has been great. So has Valanciunas. Myck Kabongo has struggled to do anything other than pass because he's short and gets blocked.

I beat Philly by 15 and lost to Chicago by about 15. IDK if Deng is injured or traded in my season, but Jimmy Butler started and he played great. Although Taj Gibson killed me more than anybody. Next game is against the Nuggets.

Also I traded Tyler Honeycutt to the Cavs for a 2nd rd pick. I cant remember if it was for this years draft or next, but I dont play him and wanted Michael Glover on the bench so I cleared up a spot for him.

3rd Year Piston's Association

Made it the 2nd round of the playoffs the last two years, first as 6 seed than as a 3 seed. No stars, yet, just team basketball.

Lineup (Starter/ Backup):

PG: Brandon Knight/ Chauncey Billups
SG: James Harden/Bradley Beal (6th Man)/ Klay Thompson
SF: Harrison Barnes/ James Johnson
PF: Greg Monroe/ Jason Maxiell
C: Kendrick Perkins/ Meyers Leonard

These are the guys that play, I have other guys but they're just reserves.

Currently the 3rd seed with a record of 32-16.

Any spots I could improve on?

I'll hopefully start my Association tonight, using Paul Pierce's updated sliders and the (older) Official Sim Roster. Played a few test games with it and they are awesome. I'll either be playing as the hometown Pistons, Knicks, Cavs, Thunder, or Celtics, in that order. Any recommendation? I also don't see myself playing all 82 games and I don't want to sim, but I love the idea of managing fatigue with my players throughout the 82 game schedule. I'm leaning towards a 59 game schedule since it's closer to what the NBA has right now. Thanks for the input

Posted something in the bugs thread about that but none of that seems to get addressed so, ill ask here.

I'm in the first year of my Bobcats Association and in the first round of the playoffs everytime I finish a game it freezes at the loading screen after I quit that game and just says "file load complete..."

Anyone have any ideas of what I should do? Is it because I started my association before the patches came out? Should I restart? And if so is there something I need to do? Such as download specific rosters, it's just really frustrating and I love Association, so this makes the game unplayable for me.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Just started my Pistons Association. I ran 3 drills, Rebound and Post with Monroe, and Shooting with both Jerebko and Knight, and I failed all 3! I'm using the Official Sim Roster with the updated 2k Community Edit sliders (gamespeed at 40), and the associated draft class. I'll be playing 12 minute quarters and a 58 game season. My first moves were hiring two scouts, one with A rating and A potential and one with C rating and A potential. I chose to scout Harrison Barnes, Andre Drummond, and Ausin Rivers. I just played my first game as well:

Game 1

Rockets 79 - Pistons 88

I came out firing out of the gate, taking a 24-13 lead early, behind 14 points from Tayshaun Prince. Houston battled back to be down one at the end of the first half, until Brandon Knight sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give me a four point lead at the half. I came out firing again, taking an early nine point lead in the half, but the Rockets battled back to tie the score, but I led 69-67 at the end of 3 quarters. I held a 79-73 lead with 6 minutes left in the fourth, but Kevin Martin buried an open 3 to cut the deficit to three. On the next possession, the had another open 3 to tie the game, but missed long and Jason Maxiell controlled the defensive board. After that, I never looked back. Tayshaun and Monroe each added an and-one down the stretch. Battling foul trouble most of the game, Greg Monroe didn't manage to stay on the floor very much, but he was able to provide 16 points, including a huge tip slam to give me an 8 point lead with 3 minutes to go in the game. I held on for an 88-79 victory. My scoring was extremely balanced, with Tayshaun scoring 21, Monroe had 16, Ben Gordon scored 14, Stuckey had 12 and rookie Brandon Knight added 14 points and 6 assists off the bench. I played pretty well, despite scoring 88 points and shooting 40% from the field and 7/22 from behind the arc. Williams, Scola, Lowry, and Dalembert all scored in double figures for the Rockets. Here's my current rotation:

Gordon/Stuckey
Prince/Daye
Jerebko/Maxiell/Villanueva
Monroe/Wallace

Here's my analysis on my players after the first game:

Stuckey - A little disappointing, but knocked down his only 3 point attempt and hit all of his free throws. I just don't see him being a 20 PPG scored like I had hoped.

Knight - Played pretty well. Only shot 3-11 from the field, but had to take some bad shots at the end of the shot clock. Went 6/6 from the line, added 6 assists, and played pretty good D on Lowry.

Bynum - Didn't get much time, but had a nice assist. Solid 3rd point guard.

Gordon - Hot early and struggle much of the rest of the game. Has the potential to be my leading scorer if he can find some consistency.

Prince - Hot early from behind the arc, and got to the basket in the 2nd half, although he didn't shoot well from the stripe. Played solid defensively.

Daye - Didn't get much time either, but I think he went 0-4 from the field. Ouch.

Jerebko - Got some rebounds and hit a few shots. Not too great defensively but he's a sufficient power forward right now.

Maxiell - Similar to Jerebko, he grabbed some boards, but played much better defense.

Villanueva - Came in at C in the end of the first half, and converted on two layups from Knight on a pick-and-roll play. Scored 4 points in 3 minutes of time. This may have earned him some more.

Monroe - Played pretty well too. Foul trouble most of the game kept him off the floor, but he was very efficient when he was in the game. Scored on the pick-and-roll as well as driving to the basket. Struggled defensively at times guarding Scola.

Wallace - Had 5 or 6 rebounds and played decent D. That's all I can ask of him.


Overall, I'm already having a blast with Association. Can't wait to play more games and progress further. Cheers!
