Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

im in the 2nd round of the playoffs with this fantasy drafted 76er team after an up and down regular season finishing 18-11. i swept orlando in the 1st round but now im down 2-1 in a best of 5 series against the nets.

my roster looks like this, and this is year 1 of my association.

    pg: kyrie irving/earl watson
sg: jr smith/tony douglas/jake robinson(d league pickup, excellent shooter)
    sf: ronnie brewer/damian james
    pf: lamarcus aldridge/anthony randolph/joey dorsey
    c: javale mcgee/omir asik

aldridge led the league in scoring with 24 ppg but he got injured in my last game and is out for 2 weeks. i am now forced to fight off elimination without the leading scoring in the league and now i have virtually no post offense. idk if ill be able to pull it off without him but all in all it was a good season anyway and i have pieces to build around going into the future.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Well, I'm relatively new to the 2k franchise (haven't picked one up since 2k5) however, I'm a lifelong NBA fan. But that's aside the point. I haven't quite found a team that I click with on 2k just yet, although I'm pretty successful with Memphis. So, I decided to go ahead and do the Association Mode with a fantasy drafted Cavs team. This is my roster to date:

      1. Jrue Holiday, Sherron Collins
      2. MarShon Brooks, Brandon Rush, Kyle Korver
      3. Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard
      4. Luis Scola, Amir Johnson, Drew Gooden
      5. Joakim Noah, Andray Blatche

I'm having a lot of success, however as big of a fan as I am of Noah, I find my team performing much better with Blatche in the game. As you guys are the experts, do you have any criticism or comments to say about my roster?

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

As I mentioned earlier I was starting an association with the Cavs. I just finished year number 1 (only played 2 games, simmed the rest). I missed the playoffs by 4 games but I definitely improved the Cavs in my 1st year. We finished 38-44 with Kyrie and OJ Mayo being injured majority of the year.

In the beginning of the season I trade Anthony Parker and Ryan Hollins to the Nets. In return I received Anthony Morrow and Shawne Williams. After I played a couple of games with this squad I decided to make another move. I traded Tristan Thompson and a '12 1st round pick to the Nuggets, for Ty Lawson.

After acquiring Ty Lawson I quickly traded him to the Cavs for OJ Mayo. My final move on the year was trading Alonzo Gee for Matt Barnes straight up. I was a little surprised that the Lakers accepted this trade, but I guess they're trying to make some cap room. After this transaction I let my team finish out the year with this roster. I think we did pretty decent, improved from last year.

        Current Cavs Team:

        PGs- Kyrie Irving/Ramon Sessions/Daniel Gibson(probably going to trade)/Uzoh
        SGs- Anthony Morrow/OJ Mayo
        SFs-Barnes/Williams/Casspi(going to trade)/Eyenga
        PFs-Jamison/Samuels/Harongody
        Cs-Varejo/Erden

Let me know what you think, suggestions, constructive criticism, comments, opinions.

My 2nd season should be starting up soon.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

1st game in my 5th season with Suns ended with a 3pt win against LAL. It was a up and down game. It shouldnt been that close. We had 15 pt leads twice in game, then they came back both times. We were down 2 heading into 4th q, and fought back for the win. Kobe is at the point where he is degressing quickly. We shut him down to 15.
Our main problem was TOs and getting blocked. My PG Cameron had 28 points, 7 assists, 6 rebs, and 8 steals. My PF Sullinger had 30 points, 6 rebs, and 2 blocks. We had 3 players with 3 blocks each. My rookie Center(#2 pick) had 4 rebs and 3 blocks off the bench.
We only attempted 2 3pters the entire game. Mainly because I basically traded away all the 3pt shooters. Most of my bench is defensive wing players. We held them to 89 pts, 45% FG, forced 17 TOs.

That game showed me, that we are legit contenders for the WCC and NBA Title. If we can keep TOs down and not force shots around bucket, that we can compete with anyone. We have Great Size, Defense, and Players who can score, and we have good post presence on both sides. Only thing we dont have is a bench scorer. We have the defense at 1-3 spots to shut down any non big and the good post defenders to contest shots and pull down rebs.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I will play 5-10 reg season games. Last few years, I didnt face top of the line teams. This year since we are legitmate contenders, I will face the upper teams in the west. Since I am in the 5th season, alot of the elite players of today are older. I will face teams like Thunder, Memphis, and POR, LAL.
I said earlier that I had no scorers on my bench. I forgot I had a former-Dleague perimeter shooter(Diebler) on my team because he didnt play in the Laker game. I give all my players at least 10 mins, but he must be in the 12 spot. I will move him up. When my PG, PF, and SG isnt on the court, the only scorer I have is my SF. If I move Diebler up, I lose defense at the 3 spot. But, he is my best shooter and has high consistency.
I really like our bench. When I have them in, I know the score will stay consistent. I have to bench SFs with 2 different playstyles. One is defense only and the other is offense only. I will balance it. I still have good size on my bench. PG-(6'2), SG-(6'6), SF-(6'8) and (6'6), PF-(6'10), C-(7'). My bench is better on defense as a unit than my starting lineup.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I tried to stick to my Nets Assoc, but they just couldn't recover their lost team chemistry after I made some trades for Hibbert, Hill and George. I really didn't want to play with the Pacers, but I liked controlling George in my CAL so I decided to start one with them.

This team is mean! I'm currently 6W-1L, and have played 3 games. I think i'll definitely stick to this one. The only move I made was signing J. Posey to a 1yr deal and he plays nicely off the bench.

Future hopes - Would be to trade or sign K. Leonard from the Spurs to replace Granger once age becomes a problem. I've spent 3 dev points on Hansbrough and plan to keep on him to replace West in 2 years or so. The only problem is, he'll only be in his prime for a year or two before his ratings decline at a fast rate: he's 26yrs. Should I bother with spending off-season (and monthly dev points) points to up his potential, or keep him and start him for one complete season before making some offers?
...we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after...

                  WADDUP WORLD

Decided to scrap all my other associations, really wasnt sure what team would get my GM services but than i ran across an unlikely team in UTAH. Never considered playing with these guys but I now see they have everything im looking for. All around talent from the post to the perimeter, youth, and DEFENSE(somewhat). So im gonna give em a shot.

Im running 82 games and i upped my minutes to 12(WOW)

                  Pg Devin Harris(34)
                  Sg Gordon Hayward(34)
                  Sf Josh Howard(34)
                  Pf Paul Millsap(34)
                  C Al Jefferson(36)

                  6th man Derrick Favors(18)
                  Sf CJ Miles(13)
                  Sg Raja Bell(11)
                  C Enes Kanter(11)
                  Pg Earl Watson(9)
                  Sg Alec Burks(6)

Demarre Carroll and Jeremy Evans are the bench warmer and prospect.
Coach Tyrone Corbin is in his 2nd year of coaching. Can the Jazz return to the playoffs ----- The Post DWill Era.

                    Game 4

Lakers host Grizzlies at the Staples Center, after coming away from a 2 win streak from their road trip, Lakers will look to impress their home crowd with the performance that had led to their great start to the new regular season.

Not only that, this game would have the Gasol brothers come up against each other. The game started well for the Lakers even though Tayshaun Prince was out for 2 weeks following his injury in the Clippers game and Matt Barnes will fill in at the SF position.

The Lakers grabbed an early lead and went into the first half break leading 2 points with Kobe Bryant on fire as he was on a 75% FG percentage. Great defensive work by Gasol and Bynum led to many turnovers by the Grizzlies and the Lakers were able to capitalise on it well.

By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Lakers had created a 9 points gap which would later become as big as a 15 points lead. Which would have been even more if not for Randolph grabbing boards on both ends of the field.

With the final buzzer, the Lakers finish with a win of 87-100 over the Grizzlies with Pau Gasol picking up player of the game which is no wonder as he grabbed 25 points 7 rebounds 5 steals and 4 blocks and at the same time he was able to shut down the Grizzlies offence.

Once again, Bryant led the Lakers scoring with 33 points and Shannon Brown again with another sensational sixth man performance with 17 points. Things are looking to shape up for rookie PG Tony Wroten as he had a good game grabbing 7 rebounds and 2 assists although Mike Brown would have something to say about his 1-8 shooting.

With game 4 behind, the Lakers will look to play the Sacramento kings who are on a 0-3 losing streak.

So far we are 2-0 with close wins over Phily and Portland. Good depth, offensive rebounding, and clutch plays are what this team revolves around.
Not one of these trades would happen in the real world. OKC is going to trade a 25 year old for a 36 year old in the same position.

Chicago is going to trade a 27 year old for a 33 year old at the same position.

And, the Smith and Ibaka trades are laugable. You should have just traded for Lebron using a 2nd round pick.

Year 2, Game 5 of my Wizards Association we're goin on the road to play the Bucks...we come into the game 3-1 against a pretty average team at best

Nick Young starts the game going 3-3 from 3 in the 1st but other than that the 1st half was a low scoring turnover fest for both teams...we went into the half up 44-36...john wall had a decent 1st half with 11pts, 8 rebounds and 4 assist...but he also had his trademark john wall moments with 3to's...we held the Bucks to an atrocious 36% shooting but our half court offense was struggling(AS USUAL) so we needed to create more fast break points in the 2nd half

Start of the 3rd Paul George gets the momentum in our favor with a and-1 dunk over Andrew Bogut...in the 3rd shots started really falling for both teams, especially J.R. Smith, who went 4/4 from 3 and penetrated our D with ease...the score after 3 was Wizards 69 Bucks 67

The 4th was pretty much a blur...buckets dropping back and forth, lead change after lead change...next thing i know, game tied with 9.1 seconds left and my ball...i inbound to john wall, come off the pick and roll, dish to nick young for the mid range jumper and...NO GOOD!!!!!smh...to overtime we go tied 93-93

In overtime we COMPLETELY dropped the ball...nothing went right for us and we ended up losing 103-98...John Wall finished with 15pts, 10rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals...Paul George dropped in his usual 30pts and Nick Young added 30 of his own...JR Smith lit us up!!!...31pts, 5 assists and 4 steals for him

We drop to 3-2 with our next game in Toronto to face the Raptors, hopefully we can pull that one out

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Started a Celtics association. Immediately at the start, I wanted to trade Rondo, so I traded him, Bass, and my '12 1st for Eric Gordon, Kaman, their '12 1st, and their '12 2nd. I think it was a pretty fair trade, especially with me including my 1st and Bass.

Simulated the first season, as I always do, and the results were MUCH better than expected. I had two win streaks of nearly 20 games, and I EASILY had the best record in the league, my first time ever doing that simulating a season (cause of the Thunder/Bulls/Heat). I led the league in FG%, 3PT%, and Eric Gordon was an All-Star and the MVP! He had a GREAT season and the MVP helped his team win another title on his way to a Finals MVP as well! Pretty sure I beat the Lakers 4-2, but I'd have to check.

Anyways, in the lottery I got the #1 overall pick from NOH's 1st. I decided to take a risk and not extend a qualifying offer to Gordon, hoping to sign the MVP to a long-term contract. I ended up getting him for 5 years, and I let Keyon Dooling, Ray Allen, Mickael Pietrus, and Chris Kaman walk. I wanted to keep kaman, but he strained his achilles late in the playoffs, and I wasn't about to pay him $6M/year to ride the bench.

Then, I decided to trade Paul Pierce and the #1 pick to the Bulls for Loul Deng, the #26 pick, and Jimmy Butler. They got Harrison Barnes, and they signed Ray Allen in FA, so they're deep, but I wanted to clear some cap space and get an upgrade at SF.

I drafted Mourphate Yarou (or however you spell it) with the #26 pick, I got Josep Franch with my first 2nd rounder, and Michael Snaer with my second 2nd rounder.

Then, I saved my cap space for a reason. I signed Dwight Howard for 5 years! I figured that while he has said Boston isn't his preferred destination, I'm sure he'd be interested in playing with the defending champions, an All-Star SF and the MVP!

Gonna sim the preseason, and start playing at the beginning of season 2.

Thoughts? Too unrealistic or am I doing it right?

I've been reading this thread and Celtics users seem like they always want 2 trade RONDO I just dont get it

He's a point guard that can get u about 9-11 assist and can hit that mid range shot every now and then

On top of that their trading for scorers instead of trying 2 get another young point guard

and to be honest as much as I like Ray Allen I would trade him I mean u would want that young slasher at the 2 since u have spot up shooters already
