Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I like my team that I have assembled thus far with the Suns. We have young pieces for the future at the 1 and 4 spot. I like Asik as our Center. Im okay with Dudley as our SG/SF due to his 3pt ability and Perimeter Defense(Did a Defensive Training camp). But, I want to trade/replace Ariza as our SF. The only thing he provides is Perimeter D and Athleticism. I got him through a trade. I will target a SF in the draft. I love my bench. Full of 3pt shooters. I had 32 bench points vs 12 against the Spurs when I played in a loss.
Cap is little over. Bogut(got through a offered trade) has 14 mil, but I will keep him due to need as Backup center. If I trade Ariza, It will probably be for a another big.
I signed A Pot coaches after year 1 that wasnt great to start off with, but that will get better. The HC I have is a defensive coach. So, he will make my players better on defense. Rookie PG will be good in the long run, but he isnt a good man defender.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Just lost game that I had to stop early against Bobcats. CP3 signed there, I traded Nash there 1st year, and they have Kemba. I was able to get a half, then I had to stop and sim to end. We had a good lead, then they got hot. We forced the issue alittle bit.
So far, I only have 2 players that average 10+, but have 4 guys at 8+. My Rookie PG is our leading scorer, assists, and 3rd on team rebounder. He is avging 16-6-6. My 2nd year PF avgs 15pts and 9 rebs. We avg 92 ppg and give up 94 ppg. 3rd in rebs. I am good at Center. But, I may consider trading Frye and Ariza for a backup defensive PF who can reb. I may look at FAs.
I wont play many games this season. I may play 5 more games in this season. I havent scouted and just turned on auto-scouting. I am not sure if we will make the playoffs and might end up with another lottery pick. We dont really have any glaring needs. Bench is good. I havent really checked any players yet. I might go for a SG/SF in the 1st rd and look for a rebing big.

I tried to post something about my association (it was very long) 2 days ago and it said it had to be reviewed by the moderator and it never posted. Any idea why?? Also any deals where I can get Kyrie Irving from Cavs in a package starring around Brandon Knight? Im using the Pistons roster. Thanks

My advice, don't give up on Brandon Rush or Klay Thompson yet. First of all, spend development hours on Klay to make him better on defense, rebounding, etc. Rush can play the 3 and is a knockdown shooter from 3, once you master his release. He will easily be able to give you 3 or more 3s a game if you use him well. He runs the floor and spots up in transition; find him. Also run the play "Mil 4 Offscreen" for both Rush and Thompson when the 2nd unit is on the floor. It's a good play for an open 3 and if the 3 is guarded well, you can dump it down to Kwame and let him bust a move. Kwame is serviceable in this game and can score a little in the post. I really like him on my team. Biedrins is a bit of a train wreck but with his contract it would probably be unrealistic to ship him to another team, unless you take a bad contract in return. The Warriors will have some money to spend in the offseason so you can look at upgrading a few key positions. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice I will definitely try to run that play. This team is a sight for sore eyes defensively. I plan to keep Klay Thompson for the long haul hopefully. He's been improving a little each game showing the signs of the scorer he is.

Team is currently sitting at 3-6 and is the worst defensive team in he league allowing 104.9 PPG. while scoring 100, it isn't enough to overcome the horrible defensive play. Recently was blowing out in back-to-back games by the TWolves in which we lost by 37 points...They scored 43 in the 3rd quarter and shot 60% from the field.

The team has got to get it together.

Nate Robinson was unhappy with how the team was performing and clearly wanted out. He was traded immediately to the Lakers who needed some bench help in return for Darius Morris and Devin Ebanks. It gives the Lakers a backup PG who can score and it helps the Warriors unload a player that doesn't want to be there and a possible future PG in Morris. While Curry is the man Miller would be nice off the bench and with his size he can present certain mismatches.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Few weeks before All Star Break, Suns is 10th in conference. I traded Ariza and Frye for a 2nd year SF and C.Hayes(Later traded him). After getting EMBARRASSED by Hornets(30pt loss) that I expected to win going in, I realized change was needed. I was okay with my Starting lineup, but I needed serious change on the bench. We had a good scoring bench, but that is all they provided. We had NO athleticism on our team outside of my PGs(83 Speed and under) and had only one good perimeter Defender on our team(Dudley). So, I traded away Cole, Novak(for a draft pick), Hayes, PG I drafted, Miller. I got Courtney lee, A.Bradley, Shumpert, and young rebing PF. I replaced Novak with a D-League 3pt Specialist. With those additions, I added defense and athleticism to my rotation and another Big.

With those additions, I dont really have any glaring needs. I havent played a game yet with this current team, but I like our bench. After this year, I will have over 40 mil Cap to work with. I dont really plan on signing anyone big. I want to save our money for the players we have. If I do go after a big name player, It would either be a SG or a C. My oldest players our Bogut and Dudley at 29. I extended Bogut for 3 more years. I dont have any other FAs on my team besides the Dleague SG(He says he might leave). Most of my players are on team options. I will save our money for our own players. We will most likely gonna have a lottery pick. Since we dont have any glaring needs and since the draft class is weak at Centers, I might go best available or just trade for the future pick/player. I say Center, but Im more than okay with Asik as our starter. He has the 3 things I want in a center. Size, rebounding, and post defense. I think we have the pieces(might have to replace Dudley in future) and I think were a year away from being a playoff team.
                Lineup:
                PG-Cameron(Rookie, 6'7)
                SG-Dudley(6'7)
                SF-Barnes(6'8)
                PF-Sullinger(6'9)
                C-Asik(7-0)
                Bench:
                PG-Bradley(6'2)
                SG-C.Lee(6'5), Shumpert(6'5), Morrow(6'5)
                SF-DLeague SG/SF(6'6)
                PF-J.Williams(6'10, 2nd year)
                C-Bogut(7'0)

We have great size across the board. Only 1 player under 6'5 and 4 over 6'9. Even though the majority of our athleticism and defense is on the bench, but when they sub in and blend in with our scorers hopefully they can mesh. Our main problems each time I played was Lack of Athleticism, TOs, and Fast Break Points given up. Since 4/5 starters is under 1-3 year players, I dont give them too much mins(max of 32).I gave alot of my bench players good playing time, so they can provide impact in the game. If they are on my team, they are not just going to sit on the bench, they are going to play.
I might play against a bad team to see how our team plays together. We have 0% Chemistry due to trades. But besides the Dleague SF, everyone has a good attitude. I will play against Dwight-less(went to Cavs) Magic. Their main guys are Big Baby, Hedo, and Ryan Anderson. So, I am hoping we can have a good game and win. I want to dominate the glass, keep TOs under 12, and bench players providing athleticism and defense. I know we can score, it is just getting everyone involved and not forcing the issue.
We got blown out by the Magic. We did good on Rebs and besides late TOs when game was out of reach. But, I just think were just not ready to compete. We cant get force any TOs and our Fast Break Defense is horrrible. They had 19 forced TOs vs. our 3 Forced TOs, 44 FB points vs. 17 points, and 24 Points Off Turnover vs. only 3. All my bench didnt play much in this game. I have to adjust that. Nelson and Big baby combined for 38. But, my 2 players I am building around had good games. Sullinger had 26 pts and 5 rebs. Cameron had 13pts, 14assists, and 5rebs. He is good on offense, but not on defense.
I got offered DeAndre Jordan for Asik and the 2nd round pick I just received. Even though I said was content with Asik, I had to take that deal. They made me an offer I couldnt refuse. Asik was the better rebounder and overall better post defender. But, Jordan brings athleticism and blocking ability to my post defense.
We made the Playoffs as the 8th seed, but faced LAL. I simulated and took them to 7 games. Heading into offseason, Our Cap is great and only have 1 player that will be a UFA. I will let him go. I will target a Defensive Athletic SF either in FA or in draft. I havent scouted at all, but turned on Auto-scouting. I have the cap to go after a superstar, but wont. I have few players that I pick up their team option. I am hoping my players progress this offseason

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

Just started a Mavericks association in 2k11 using mkharsh33's 2012 rosters. I chose them because they are on of the older and I really like Jianlian and Haywood. Looking to get a setup where the 4 and 5 are big men who primarily defend and get a ton of boards while my 2 and 3 can hit midrange jumpers and do pretty well beyond the arc. Probably looking to trade away Dirk because he just seems to be the opposite to what I need, even though the man can score even though he is pretty big. What do you guys think I could fetch for him, would love a big forward and maybe a round 1 pick, any ideas?

EDIT: DOH, just realised Dirk has a no trade clause, any other ideas? :|

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I signed Paul George to a 4yr 20 mil contract and resigned a young sharp shooter. I traded Dudley, Shumpert, and Morrow for picks. I drafted a Defensive SG in the draft, and a Center. I changed my team from a Slow Offensive team that I built to a more athletic defensive team who has guys who can shoot. Our OVR is 75 and we have 22 mil in cap we can work with.
                      Lineup:
                      PG-Cameron(6'7)(77)
                      SG-Paul George(6'10)(75)
                      SF-Barnes(6'8)(73)
                      PF-Sullinger(6'9)(75)
                      C-Jordan(6'11)(72)
                      Bench:
                      PG-Bradley(6'2)(70)
                      SG-J.James(6'5)(68), Lee(6'5)(69)
                      SF-Diebler(6'6)(60)
                      PF-Williams(6'10)(66)
                      C-Bogut(7'0)(55), Dourekas(7'0)(57)
I havent played yet, but I like our team. We only have 3 players over 24 and noone over 29. So, we have a good future. If anything, I might target another Center in a trade.

Decided to start a franchise with the kings to take them to a championship. The first year I simmed and scouted and made one trade, which was jj hickson and John salmons to the pacers for their first round pick and Tyler hansborough.
I ended up with the third pick in the draft, took a good small forward named mcadoo or something like that, and then took a decent sg with the pacers 21st pick.
After the draft, free agency came around and their were many good player including Dwight(not deron), but my main target was finals MVP CP3. The fact that he was a free agent is dumb, but that did not stop me from signing him. Not only did I get the best point guard in the game but it let me trade fredette and chuck Hayes for tristain Thompson of the cavs. I'm excited to play with my big three of Paul, evans, and cousins in the near future.

I think I did a good job of rebuilding the Cavs. I simmed year one. I signed yi As a free agent I traded Jamison to the hornets for okefor and their first rounder. I also traded sessions to the bucks for their first. I won the lottery and ended up with picks 1, 7 and 28. Before the draft I traded away okefor plus my 2nd rounder to the nets for Anthony morrow.

I drafted Drummond first overall. At 7 I took lamb and at 28 I took mason plumey.

In free agency I signed ilasova from the bucks and plan to make a offer to Michael beasle or nick Batum so my roster looks like this.

                            Irving / Gibson
                            Lamb / morrow
                            Beasly or Batum / gee
                            Thompson / yi / plumlee
                            Drummond / varejo

Thoughts on my team? While Hornets wouldn't trade their number one pick, I thought I did a good job. I haven't finished free agency yet. I would like to target a backup guard for Irving. Who would make my tea better Beasly or Batum. Thanks

As stated above, started a Mavs association, trades so far:
                              Mavs: Vince Carter
Cavs: Daniel Gibson, 1st round 2011

Mavs: Dirk Nowitzki, Delonte West, Lamar Odom
Hawks: Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Zaza Puchalia

Both found through trade finder. Apparently I now have the 30th ranked offense and the 13th defense, here is my lineup:
                              Beaubois
                              Gibson
                              M. Williams
                              Smith
                              Haywood

                              Mahinmi my 6th man

Not sure how my offense is 30th, my big men have some pretty good ratings inside, and my 1, 2 and 3 have some good perimeter ratings. First game against the Bobcats, double OT to eventually hold on for a 166-164 win.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread

I simmed the 1st month of the season. I played a game(well most of it) against Jazz. I was able to get almost 3 quarters in before bad weather forced me to stop and save. Since I saved it into a new file, it wont have any problems. I will played great. We had a 10+ lead against them. We kept TOs down, did good in rebounding, and played good defense. Those are my main 3 things I that I focus on heading into each game. If I can do those, we can win games because I have multiple guys who can score. I have 2 main Scorers(Cameron and Sullinger) and have guys who can shoot outside(15+). Cameron had a double double by halftime(11-11). Once we get a 10+ lead and the defense pull full court D, (With Cameron's great athleticism) He was able sprint down the court and either get a basket or assist. Despite their PF and giving a several open shots/looks, we played great on defense. I will finish the game in the morning. I hope to pull away and give backups times with 5 mins left, I have alittle over a quarter left.
I completely changed the way I how was building this team. In my 1st 2 years, I had a ton of shooters. But, we were VERY slow and had NO good perimeters defenders. So in my late 2nd/early 3rd, I started trading away my shooters and started looking for athletic defenders who can shoot 3s. So, I wasnt giving up the shooting ability, just adding defense and athleticism. The addition of George and Jordan brought us great size, athleticism, and defense to our starting 5. We only have 1 guy on our bench(Bogut, through a trade) that is still on our bench from year 1-2.
Our team now is built on Size, Defense, Rebounding, and Athleticism. We can matchup with anyone with size. We have 5 guys at or over 6'10 and only 1 player under 6'5. George, Jordan, and our bench backcourt are defense. We are not very athletic, but we have more than enough to match up with most teams.
Unless I get any good offers, I dont plan on making any trades. We have Bucks 1st and 2nd round pick this year. That pick will most likely be a lottery pick. Bench is great IMO. No needs and a VERY weak Center class, I might end up taking another athletic defensive wing or best available/trade. I couldve went after Melo in the FA. But with him at age 30 and wanting to stay high above cap, I didnt even offer him anything.
I think we are 2 years from being a title contending team. We have 3 top 10 drafted players(George, Sullinger, and Cameron) and a great bench. Besides a few players, my team will be intact for next 2-3 years. I have to resign my backup PF.
