Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I have gone back and forth on different associations, but I finally settled on one. I am in my second season with the Orlando Magic. I made some moves in my first season to free up some cap space to go after CP3. Dwight Howard re-signed with me, and I traded away Jameer Nelson, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Glen Davis. I added Tracy McGrady, Thad Young, Tyler Hansborough, as well as a couple of role players. We made the playoffs but got ousted in the first round. I ended up with the 17th pick in the draft.
Once draft night came around, the Bucks offered me the 9th pick in the draft for Daniel Orton and JJ Redick. I accepted and drafted Perry Jones III. I traded down out of the 17th slot with the Celtics. I got their 25th pick and their 1st pick next year. With the 25th pick, I drafted Tyler Zeller. I didn't have a 2nd rd pick, so my night was finished.
Once free agency started, my main focus was CP3. I offered him a max 4 year deal with the player option for the 5th, and he accepted. So now I had my two superstars, I could fill in the rest of the team around them. I tried signing OJ Mayo, but he declined my offers and re-signed with Memphis. I ended up re-signing Tracy McGrady to play SG. I also signed Manny Harris and Shaun Livingston, and traded for both CJ Watson and Tobias Harris.
So going into my 2nd season, my lineup looks like this:
PG - Chris Paul/CJ Watson/Shaun Livingston
SG - Tracy McGrady/Manny Harris/Deandre Liggins
SF - Thad Young/Tobias Harris/Earl Clark
PF - Perry Jones III/Tyler Hansborough
C - Dwight Howard/Tyler ZellerComment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
TimberWolves
Record: 19-35
Roster Moves: None
Lineup Changes: Randolph to starting Center, Williams to 7th man.
Notable Stats: Beasley (19.6 PPG), Love (10.8 RPG), Rubio (8.1 APG)
News:
- I seriously considered moving Beasley before the ASG. It doesn't look like he's going to sign for next year, and his worth is at an all time high with the season he has had. I'm hoping things work out, and he's still playing for me next year.
- Initially, I thought I'd go out and get a Center in the offseason. But Randolph has thrived since I began starting him (12.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG).
- Rubio has began to emerge as well, but he's only averaging 8 PPG. His assist to TO ratio has been good enough for me to keep him as the starter however.
- SG will be the focus in the offseason. I should have a lottery pick, so I could always look to the draft. But what I likely see happening is this. PG (Rubio), SG (Draft/FA), SF (Williams shifting over from the 4), PF (Love), C (Randolph).

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Just found out about this forum,
Regarding my association, Celtics fan, but I always like the idea of fantasy, so I did a fantasy draft. I'm in the second season of my association, 58 games, 6 min quarters, HOF difficulty.
First season had the following roster after multiple trades(including all my draft picks):
S. Curry/ D. Fisher
R. Allen/ T. Sefolosha/ C. Martin
D. Granger/ M. Webster / T. Harris
J. Smith/ K. Humphries
R. Hibbert/ K. Thomas
Second Season, Josh Smith opted for free agency so I traded Him/Granger/future picks immediately for Blake Griffin and now my team is:
S. Curry/ J. Lin / E. Johnston (Generated 2012 52nd overall pick)
R. Allen/ Q. Cheeks (Generated 2012 14th overall pick)
C. Butler / M. Webster / D. Summers
B. Griffin / K . Humphries
R. Hibbert/ D. Milicic
Caron Butler was acquired from trading L. Fields/E. Ilyasova/I. Smith (Free agent pickups) in the beginning of the season.
Looking to do a 2-peat this season even though my team is weaker than it was the first season.Last edited by liveordie56; 02-29-2012, 01:49 PM.Comment

I'm stuck at the moment, if I go as a team that in real-life are not doing so well and I start to do so much better it seems to ruin the enjoyment a little because I know that the team isn't as good as they can be when I'm in control. So is the only way to have a fun association to go as a side that is guaranteed a play-off spot to accommodate my skill versus the computer?Football: Manchester United
MLB: Cleveland Indians

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
After debating on a team I finally went with the Golden State Warriors, my favorite player in the league is Stephen Curry so it seemed right. As they are not bottom of the barrel but they are by no means a play off contender either.
Current Lineup:
PG: Stephen Curry
SG: Monta Ellis
SF: Dorell Wright:
PF: David Lee
C: Andris Biedrins
I'm currently sitting 1-1 after losing to the Jazz, I received my first win in my most fun and pleasing game of basketball I have played. Ever. Against he Clippers. I was down most of the game, and was struggling to hit any shots, the only player I could rely on was Monta Ellis. Blake Griffin is an absolute animal and Chauncy Billups found the fountain of youth as he dropped 31 against me.
The score was 99-97, Ellis hit a clutch mid-range jumper with 30 seconds left. I was able to force a pass to Blake Griffin and I immediately fouled him. He made 1 of 2 to make it 100-97. I have 24.4 seconds to tie the game or hit a quick 2 and foul. I have Ellis bring the ball off and Curry gets open behind the arc after a nice screen by Lee set him up. Curry takes the shot and bricks it. Curry had the hot hand after only having 8 points at half and struggled to hit the 3 or anything for that matter all game. But low and behold I grabbed the offensive board with none other then Kwame Brown who has outplayed Biedrins in 2 games thus far.
Brown kicks it out to Monta to hits Curry in the same exact spot for the 3. Its GOOD!! as time expires. This games going to OT! Warriors win the tip off and Ellis quickly hits a jumper to take the lead. After the game going back and forth with about 4 seconds left the Clippers are up 2 and foul David Lee. The crowd in the Oracle are absolutely silent. Lee hits 1 of 2....now pressures on for Lee. The balls in the air...swish! Tied up at 112! Clippers call a quick T.O. Everyone in the stadium knows who's taking the last shot a quick inbounds to CP3 who....passes to Caron Butler who air balls the shot as time expires...
2nd OT! Opens with a Monta Ellis foul on Billups and that was Ellis' 6th foul He is done! Ellis left the game with 31 points and was the key reason why Golden State was in this game. Marc Jackson has a decision to make, to leave Curry at the point and bring in the struggling Brandon Rush or Klay Thompson. Rush and Thompson are shooting 1/12 and 2/13 respectively on the year. Jackson's toughest decision and it's only his 2nd game into his coaching career. Jackson elects to go with Nate Robinson at the point and slide Curry to SG. While it seemingly didn't matter as it was David Lee in the 2nd OT that made his presence felt. The Warriors survive the Clippers visit 122-118. What a rush.
I noticed a few things though, I am getting destroyed in Points in the Paint, this team has no defensive presence down low. David Lee is great offensively but his a liability on defense, Biedrins is god awful and I do like Kwame Brown who has been playing well, I want to keep bringing him off the bench. I also need to figure out my backup wing positions and I can't the right side of a barn with Rush or Thompson. Someone has to go.
Sorry for the long post lolComment

One of the most fun associations I ever had was taking over the Bobcats. I was getting routinely blown out, but every now and then I would get a nice win and it was sweet. So I built my team up with draft picks, realistically, and when we got into contention, it was well worth it.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
1st season is done for my Suns Associations. I just simmed, scouted, and traded for a few players.
I traded Gortat and Price for Ariza and Nuggets 1st. Later traded that 1st pick and Nash and Someone else for Bobcats 2013 pick. I traded someone for Norris Cole and Mike Miller.
We finished 40-42. I am hoping I scouted well. I didnt target a replacement for Nash this year. I targeted wings in the 1st and a couple of PFs in the 2nd. I have Knicks 2nd round. I want to get one of those PFs. I will replace Nash next year. That Bobcats 2013 #1, should be a high pick.
I hired Howard Mann as my New HC for 3 year. He has A Pot. I signed the best Scout and signed another good scout. I signed a new Assistant Coach. Basically new staff and a new team.
I got the 14th pick. I got offered the 9th pick and Okafor for Morris and 14th pick. I accepted it and got a PF.
I wont play until next year. I am really hoping Bobcats does horribly. There is a PG I want to get that will be in top 5. I went after Javele McGee from WAS, but he resigned. He is on trade block, but they want that Bobcats pick we have, and that is not up for others.
Starter for Year 2:
PG-N.Cole
SG- I think Dudley.
SF-Ariza
PF-The current OSU PF
C-Okafur.
End of Year 2. We finished off near the same as last year, But we had Bobcats pick. They ended off with the 4th pick. With the Lottery, we had the 2nd pick. Which is great. I plan on taking a PG. There will be 2 PGs at top. 1 is good and very tall(6'7)but not very athletic, the other is 6'3 and athletic. I will take the 6'3 guy. I only traded Okafur and Warrick this year because he didnt want to be here, so I kicked his *** out.
I signed Novak and Morrow. So, I got the bench.
Starting lineup:
PG-Cameron(R)
SG-Dudley
SF-Ariza
PF-Sullinger
C-Asik
I finally played a game. We lost against Spurs by 14. Since I never played with them or really much anything outside of MP, it took me a while to get use to people. My rookie PG had 21pts, 7 assists, and 3 rebs. Since I have alot of firing power, I spread the ball out to all my players who played. Out problem was TOs. They had 25 pts off TOs compared to 7pts off TOs.
I feel we have the PG and PF of the Future. I like Asik as our Center. We have good 3pt wings, but none our starter-worthy. So, I will target wing players in the draft.Last edited by illwill10; 03-01-2012, 03:16 AM.Comment

My advice, don't give up on Brandon Rush or Klay Thompson yet. First of all, spend development hours on Klay to make him better on defense, rebounding, etc. Rush can play the 3 and is a knockdown shooter from 3, once you master his release. He will easily be able to give you 3 or more 3s a game if you use him well. He runs the floor and spots up in transition; find him. Also run the play "Mil 4 Offscreen" for both Rush and Thompson when the 2nd unit is on the floor. It's a good play for an open 3 and if the 3 is guarded well, you can dump it down to Kwame and let him bust a move. Kwame is serviceable in this game and can score a little in the post. I really like him on my team. Biedrins is a bit of a train wreck but with his contract it would probably be unrealistic to ship him to another team, unless you take a bad contract in return. The Warriors will have some money to spend in the offseason so you can look at upgrading a few key positions. Good luck!Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Man this forum is just for me. Feels like I have an audience for my fantasy GM skills.
Alrite folks im playing an 82 game 10 minute qtr association with the Wizards.
We opened up the season at home against the Nets. It was previewed to be a match up against two terrific point guards (D Will vs John Wall) - but neither had their usual night as far as scoring.
The Nets were led by rookie Marshon Brooks with 23 pts 6 rbds and 3 asts D Will followed with 14 pts on 4-11 shooting while Brook Lopez also scored 14 and snagged 8 rbds.
Ironically the Wizards were led by rookie Chris Singleton with 26 pts and 9 rbds Javale McGee dropped 16 and snagged 9 boards Nick Young poured 15 on 4-6 from 3 pt range while John Wall tallied 13 pts and 11 asts.
Chris Singleton received Player of the Game honors.
GM Jones Excited
GM Mr Jones is very happy with the season opener victory. Feels like this will be a great season for the Wizards. As being one of the youngest teams in the league this will be a win that they can build on. The fans had the Verizon Center rocking for this game and the energy clearly lifted the team and their play. Chris's first NBA game and he showed why he deserves to be in the starting lineup, his defense is real nice and he showed that his offensive game isnt too far behind.
The Wizards next 5 games will show where this young team is at as they play Orlando @ Washington, Miami @ Miami, Orlando @ Orlando, Chicago @ Washington, Los Angeles Lakers @ Los Angeles

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Well, I was in the middle of saving my Magic association mid-game, and it froze up on me, effectively deleting my association. So, I decided to start another one with the 76ers. I simmed through the first season, and missed the playoffs. During the season, I traded Elton Brand and Lou Williams to the Hawks for their 1st round pick. I ended up with the 6th pick in the lottery with my own pick, and then the Hawks pick was 14th. On draft night, I offered the Hornets Jrue Holliday and my 2nd round pick for the 4th pick in the draft, and they accepted. I drafted Jared Sullinger with the 4th pick and took Austin Rivers with the 6th pick. I then got offered JaJuan Johnson and the 17th pick from the Celtics for my 14th pick and Craig Brackens. I accepted the deal and I ended up picking Perry Jones III with the 17th pick. So, with no 2nd round pick, my night was finished.
When the free agency period started, Dwight Howard and Chris Paul were the big targets for everyone. But since I didn't have enough cap room, I couldn't make a run at either one. I was able to sign OJ Mayo to a 4 year deal, which would push Evan Turner into a backup role. I still had a hole at center, so I signed Omar Asik. I also picked up Selvin Mack and Shaun Livingston to back up Austin Rivers at the point. Chris Paul ended up signing with the Charlotte Bobcats and Dwight Howard took his talents to Phoenix.
So, going into year 2, my lineup is as follows:
PG - Austin Rivers/Selvin Mack/Shaun Livingston
SG - OJ Mayo/Evan Turner/Manny Harris
SF - Andre Igoudola/Thad Young
PF - Jared Sullinger/Perry Jones III/JaJuan Johnson
C - Omar Asik/Nikola Vujecic
I have started the season off 0-4, with losses to Boston, Portland, Dallas, and Milwaukee. Rivers started out slow, but has shown some improvement the last 2 games. Sullinger has been solid, averaging 12 pts and 7.6 rebounds a game. Iggy, Mayo, and Thad Young have been my main scorers. All three are averaging over 16 pts a game. I am thinking about playing Sullinger at C for 6-8 minutes a game in order to get Young on the floor even more. I play the Bulls next. I am anxious to see if I can stop D. Rose and his crew. They have started the season 5-0.Comment
